WELCOME TO PEACE WITH CHRIST

LUTHERAN CHURCH!

We give thanks to God that you are joining us today!

Many of our guests are seeking a home church where they
can be part of the Fellowship of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Peace with Christ is a congregation that is a family not an
“organization”. We are small enough to allow people to
know each other by name, and yet large enough to offer
opportunities for growth and service. What we “specialize”
in is not programs or productions, but simply The Gospel
of Our Lord Jesus. Christ, His Word, and the Cross are
what provide the foundation for faith and ministry. If you
are interested in learning more about Peace With Christ
Lutheran Church, please call the church office at 226-4721.
Pastor Patrick would welcome the opportunity to visit with
you personally.
THE TIME before the service may be used for prayer and
preparation. Read through the worship bulletin and familiarize
yourself with the service. Use the hymn marker to mark the Psalm
for the day. A few moments spent this way will help make the
service more meaningful.

NEXT WEEK’S LUTHERAN HOUR MESSAGE:

“Sent to Save!” Guest Speaker: Rev. Dr. James
Kalthoff. “Now is the favorable time...now is the
day of salvation.” Those words of St. Paul, written
to Christians more than 1900 years ago, are true for
us, as well. (Galatians 4:4-5) Listen to The Lutheran
Hour Message on KOA, Denver (AM850) at 6:00
a.m. and KFKA, Greeley (AM1310) at 9:30 a.m.
LUTHERAN TALK RADIO: You can listen to Issues, Etc.
on-demand. Issues, Etc. is produced by Lutheran Public Radio and
hosted by LCMS Pastor Todd Wilken. Listen to what you want when
you want to at: www.issuesetc.org

Commemoration with biography
Katharina von Bora Luther, renew of the church (1499-
1552)
Katharina von Bora was placed in a convent when still a
child and became a nun in 1515. In April 1523 she and eight
other nuns were rescued from the convent and brought to
Wittenberg. There Martin Luther helped return some to
their former homes and placed the rest in good families.
Katharina and Martin were married on June 13, 1525. Their
marriage was a happy one and blessed with six children.
Katharina skillfully managed the Luther household. She
was so influential that Luther took to calling her “my lord
Katie”. After Luther’s death in 1546, Katharina remained in
Wittenberg but lived much of the time in poverty. She
died in an accident while traveling with her children to
Torgau in order to escape the plague.

We really enjoyed ourselves at the Fall Craft Fair. My husband
passed away Nov. 11 and I wanted you to know that he really en-
joyed himself and the friendly way we were treated. By the way, he
was using a walker & I came back three times. This may help you
remember who we were! I thought you might enjoy this
wreath. It was made and came from Wisconsin on Nov. 19.
Thank you for your kindness and your special thoughtful-
ness. Mary Tate-Romero

Jewish Mission Work – Dec. 16-31

There are approximately 5.2 million Jewish people in the United States.
In 1973, the LCMS passed a resolution calling on the church body to
begin to study ways and means for helping congregations to witness to
the Jewish people.
Daily Prayers:

Sunday: For God to raise up more volunteers to work with AOHE on

a regular basis and/or at one-time outreach events in big cities. Volun-
teers form a critical part of AOHE’s mission force.

Monday: For the outreach events in urban centers to strengthen the

faith of volunteers who step out to share Jesus’ with strangers. Pray also
that those who hear the Gospel from these volunteers and the materials
that they distribute would consider the claims of Bible.

Tuesday: With thanksgiving for all of the Jewish people who have
come to a believing relationship with Christ through AOHE and other
ministries, and who now testify in His name to their fellow Jews.

Wednesday: That the Holy Spirit would open the hearts and minds of
Jewish people around the world to see that the Messiah, Jesus Christ,
has already come, and invites them into communion with God the Fa-
ther through Him.

Thursday: That Christians around the world would bear loving wit-
ness to Jewish people as they celebrate Christmas, and would be able to
graciously but confidently point to Jesus Christ as the true Messiah.

Friday: For Lutherans in Jewish Evangelism (LIJE), another mission

society that focuses in reaching out to Jewish people.

Saturday: For the St. Louis staff of LIJE, including Executive Direc-
tor Rev. Kevin Parviz, as they strive to share the truth with the Jewish
people of St. Louis.

A READING FROM THE BOOK OF CONCORD
4TH SUNDAY IN ADVENT
FORMULA OF CONCORD, EPITOME
ARTICLE VIII: THE PERSON OF CHRIST
The divine and human natures in Christ are personally united. So
there are not two Christs, one the Son of God and the other the
Son of Man. But one and the same person is the Son of God and
Son of Man (Luke 1:35; Romans 9:5).

The divine and human natures are not mingled into one sub-
stance,
nor is one changed into the other. Each keeps its own essential
properties, which can never become the properties of the other
nature.

The properties of the divine nature are these: to be almighty,

eternal, infinite, and to be everywhere present, to know
everything, and so on. These never become properties of the
human nature.

The properties of the human nature are to be a bodily creature,

to be flesh and blood, to be finite and physically limited, to
suffer, to die, to ascend and descend, to move from one place to
another, to suffer hunger, thirst, cold, and the like. These
never become properties of the divine nature.

The two natures are united in one person. This union is not the
kind of joining together and connection that prevents either
nature from having anything in common with the other person-
ally.
It is not like when two boards are glued together, where neither
gives anything to the other or takes anything from the other.
But here is described the highest communion that God truly has
with the man. (paragraphs 5-9)
