6900 W. 55th Pl., Arvada, CO Demonstration: Plant Select
This N0-LAWN-GARDEN is planted exclusively for adaptability to the Rocky Mountain Region. The energetic gardener experiments with plants propagated by her brother (propagator at Denver Botanical Gardens). She grows plants that are recommended by great local plants men and highlighted at a local nursery, where she is the garden care-taker. Many of the plants found here originate from Central Asia and Argentina. You will be inspired to think outside the box after a visit to this garden!

Tucked into the foothills of Golden, CO, this small yet well-tended garden has unusual plantings and special features. Nanking cherry, Persian lilac, Pink Dawn viburnum and an espaliered tree create a border for raised vegetable beds, and perennials. A raised deck gives a view to the open space beyond the yard. Starting this spring, a few chickens will call this garden their home. Botanical art on display demonstrate Julie Anns talent and desire to extend her relationship with the garden.

This 5-year-old garden belongs to an experienced Rocky Mountain plant addict. Standing on the front porch, surrounded by potted sempervivums and small cactus, visitors look out on a river of mini roses flowing between a xeric perennial/ rose border and a vegetable garden. A short walk leads into a small, enclosed woodland garden with many unusual plants. Around back, a narrow border of easy-to-grow perennials complements a small nursery for mini roses and creates a quiet and secluded retreat.

3665 S. Moore St., Lakewood, CO Demonstration: Hypertufa

This gardener and author practices what he writes about: dry southwest gardening with limited water use. Manzanita, cactus, Asian bulbs and a wide variety of conifers have filled this garden since 1985. Backyard berms and hyper tufa containers overflow with hardy rock garden plants that bring the mystique of the Sonoran Desert to mind.
