Types of Engineering Survey 1.

Reconnaissance Survey (a) Aerial Reconnaissance: this provides birds eye of the alignment under consideration along with the ar3ea. One advantage of theis type of survey is that the locals will not get to know anything until the government approves it. (b) Ground Reconnaissance: this is all about field inspection 2. Preliminary Survey: this is a large scale study of one or more feasible route within a corridor. The purpose is to eliminate all but the final alignment for the proposal and collecting all physical information that may affect the location of the proposed road way. It is more of paper allocation. 3. Final Location Survey; this is a type of survey which the base line traverse are established for the accepted route or routes eg. Straight lines, deflection angles, the elevation at cross roads, streams and other physical points are determined. (a) The drawing will enable the center line to be selected on paper (b) Position of the center of highway on ground (c) Continuous transit survey and pegging at the same time FOREWARD The reality of Abuja coming together as Nigerias federal capital city is most gratifying. I saw the transformation of Abuja from a thick savanna to a glamorous glass and light dotted sky line with international standard silk tars and lush greenery.
