Q.1. A.

In my own opinion, the best Filipino values or traits are that of being family-oriented, being hospitable and being God-fearing. These are some of the best values because it is to be known that Filipinos really value their families, as embodied by those Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who are working abroad just to give sustenance for their families. Being hospitable is also one of the good traits of a Filipino because it is known worldwide that Filipinos are really accommodating especially to visitors and tourists. Being God-fearing is a also a good trait because even during hard times, Filipinos are known to be prayerful so that they do not easily give up on lifes miseries.

B. Some of the worst traits of Filipinos are that of being pomp or luxurious despite difficulties of time, that of being lazy and the bahala na culture. Being luxurious and not thrifty on money can be shown when Filipinos celebrate some important events, such as that of fiestas, birthdays and weddings. Even if they cannot afford to have a grand celebration, they really would get money for such. Being lazy or the bahala na culture is embodied when one does not do his best and instead would just give in on fate and destiny.

Q.2. 2. In my own opinion, the best kind of government is the present government we have. That is of being a republican-democratic government, in which the power of the public officer emanates from the people as they are being elected. This is still a working or effective setup for the Philippines, so that the freedom of the people can still be ensured and also for the government to be accountable to the people. This is also a good kind of government as this ensures check and balances among the different branches of government.

DISCUSSION PAPER NO. 1 To make the Philippines a strong state or nation, we need the following: A strong and dedicated leader. I think that this is what is needed by any country, that is to have a well-dedicated leader who will strive hard in order that the country will be geared towards development. A strong leader will be the father/mother who would put the future of its residents as the goal above anything else. A citizenry who helps. I think that if all Filipino citizens will envision and work hard for the betterment of the country, the Philippines will be a strong state. This means that citizens should follow the laws enacted by the legislature, follow the rules of law and never do anything to the detriment of the nation. They should not also just entrust everything to the government, but that they must also have an initiative.
