What were the results? Israel expanded their territory by one third more than they were granted. Many Palestinians (peasants & farmers) fled. Gaza Strip & West Bank were forced to also leave. Many homeless Palestinians.

Why were the west hostile to Nassers regime? Because he was making relationships with eastern bloc and China.

Gamal Abdel Nasser description. Very popular in the Arab world, charismatic personality and a brilliant speaker.

Israels fear. Why was Israel scared. Because many Arab nations supported Nasser, so they were scared that he will unify all the Arabs and launch a successful military attack against them.

What did the US do after Nassers popularity kept increasing? They withdraw its support for the Aswan Dam. This led to Arab-Israeli war #2.

Civil war in Lebanon. Between: Conservatives & the leftist pro-Nasser forces. Intervention: by the US, under Eisenhower Doctrine. How did they fix it: reestablishing another league or coalition government of Christians and Muslims in Lebanon.

What is Eisenhower Doctrine? States that the US will interfere in support of governments fighting communism.
