Chapter 1

2 John

In these next thr

ee chapters, you will meet very little that you do not already know,
assuming you have nished Basics of Biblical Greek in good fashion. The purpose
of these chapters is to let you sit back, relax a little, and enjoy seeing how much you
have learned. We will start meeting new material in chapter 4.
In the vocabulary section I have listed words that occur less than 10 times. Use the
dictionary in the back of

BBG

to nd those that occur 10 through 49 times. You
should know all the rest.

1

Hint: Look car

efully at the stem vowel and the eta. Ok, this is pretty hard. An-
other hint: the nal eta is a tense formative and one of the stem vowels has
dropped out.

2

Hint: this is a dif

cult augment. You would normally expect

o,rv.

3

Hint: this is not an indicative.

4

Hint: This is a compound verb whose tense stems ar

e difcult to identify. Think
of verbal roots.

Congratulations!

You now have read an

entire

book
of the Greek New Testament!

1

Is this the holy kiss of 1 Cor 16:20?

2

Hint:

You normally see these last two words in reverse order.

3

Why is this in the case it is?
