This procedure describes the magnetic particle inspection method applied by Transwater API Sdn Bhd in this project.

This procedure covers the repair of pressure retaining welds during the fabrication of Multiphase Metering Skid.

PROCEDURE 4.1 The location and extent of defect detected by visual or NDT inspection shall be marked on the weld. 4.2 The defect shall be removed by either grinding or gouging depending on their suitability. Any gouged area shall be made smoothly by grinding. 4.3 Liquid Penetrant inspection or magnetic particle inspection shall be carried out to ensure that no defects remain. 4.4 If no future defect is detected in the repair area, the area shall then be thoroughly cleaned by means of wire brushing. 4.5 The welding procedure used for repair shall be the same as the original welding procedure. If the welding process and repair welding process is different, a repair welding procedure shall be qualified to simulate these two processes. 4.6 Preheating and interpass temperature the repair works shall be as shown in the original welding procedure. 4.7 All repair shall be executed by qualified welders according the approval repair welding procedure.
