Real Circumstance is launching a series of artist development workshops in Colchester.

Real Circumstance Labs are aimed at enabling artists to take control of their creative career within an encouraging and informal environment. The Labs take place over one or two days and are suitable for both individual artists and theatre companies. The day-long Fundraising Lab takes a comprehensive approach to developing artists fundraising skills, including how to find and approach funders, what funding avenues are available for professional development and creative projects, how to write strong funding proposals, and how to write an appropriate budget. The Lab will be tailored to participants and their requirements. The Fundrasing Lab will be delivered by Anna Bewick, Creative Producer of Real Circumstance and Arts Consultant. Anna has a proven fundraising track record, consistently raising funds from Arts Council England, charitable foundations, local and regional councils, co-producers, and private donors. Artistic Director Dan Sherer says, I meet artists all the time that are looking to get their projects funded, but they dont know where to start and find the world of fundraising intimidating. The Lab addresses this, and artists come away knowing how to move forward. Real Circumstance is running the Labs at a subsidised rate in order to widen access and participation.
