Launch Activity What activity will you use (prior to teaching the first lesson) to HOOK the students into the unit of study? Most of my students know that I design and make earrings. I have my own business, Paper Doll Earrings. (www.paperdollearrings.com) As a hook, I brought in my display and set up my earrings like I was at a festival. I also gave them earrings if they wanted some. I delivered my pitch and everything just like I do at art festivals. I explained to them that I am also an entrepreneur. As a class, we created a list of other entrepreneurs that they knew. How does this activity LINK to prior learning/knowledge/experiences? We have been studying business ventures and what it means to operate a business. We have been looking at it from a managers point of view. An entrepreneur is similar to a manager in that they manager their own company. That is how I linked the lessons.
