FOREWORD
Welcome to the First Edition of the SFC Campus Manual! Whether youre from a starting school, or an already-established school: this manual is meant especially for YOU. Though the people behind this manual have tried their best, it still may not contain every single thing that you need to know about SFC Campus Based. This is because each campus is different and unique. Thats why some things that are written here may work in your campus, others may not. However, one important thing remains, and remember this: PEOPLE DONT REALLY CARE HOW MUCH YOU KNOW UNTIL THEY KNOW HOW MUCH YOU CARE. We are called to LOVE GOD and LOVE HIS PEOPLE. As you take time to read this manual, we ask that you do the following things: 1. PRAY. Before anything else, lift up everything to the Lord, especially your intentions to serve in Campus; and the people you will encounter along the way: school administration, faculty, students, etc. 2. PLAN. Know your campus/area and come up with strategies that you may find useful in bringing Christ there. Know the people you serve and serve with. Seek out advice from other people who can help you in SFC Campus (CFC and other community members working in your respective campuses). 3. PERSIST. Working for God does not mean that life will be easy. Many trials may come your way, especially as you serve Him through Campus-Based. Always remember that God is by your side, and He will never leave you. Fear not for I am with you (Isaiah 41:10) cling to His word! Be faithful to Him at all times. 4. PRAY. Gods soldiers fight best on their knees. If we want to conquer our campuses for Christ, we must first be conquered by Him. To be conquered by Him is to be consumed by His love. To be consumed by His love is to have a personal relationship with Him to be rooted in Christ and rooted in His word. May God bless and guide you as you work to bring Christ to the campuses!

SFC CAMPUS BASED

True to the commission of Christ, As the Father has sent me, so I send you (John 20:21), CFC Singles for Christ (SFC) is truly an empowerment for the new generation of leaders and martyrs; not only to be good Christian men and women, but to spread the Good News and Renew the Face of the Earth. As SFC members find themselves being sent to serve we realize that a major arena in this mission is the educational institutions. Therefore, the work of SFC in the campuses is an urgent response to the need to provide a healthy and exciting environment in all educational institutions, where faith among teachers, staff and students can flourish, and bonds of friendship, brotherhood and sisterhood with others can be formed.

UNDERSTANDING SFC-CAMPUS
A Step-by-Step Guide for New SFC Campus-Based Groups

WHY CAMPUS?
There is an ongoing battle for the hearts and minds of single men and women today. We see the values of the generation of single men and women being wrongly influenced by different elements in society (e.g. the promotion and toleration of abortion, premarital sex, rebellion to family and parents, corruption etc.). We realize that in order to counter these threats, there has to be a massive evangelization and re-evangelization today. Every person today should know the joy of receiving the gift of salvation and of living a dynamic personal relationship with Jesus Christ. However, this is not easy because of the many distractions, attractions, worldly lures, pressures and diversions that are pulling people away from the plan of God. SFC finds itself effective in the evangelization of single men and women as it provides: 1. A point of conversion / re-conversion where a person can grow as a man / woman of God and be encouraged to take responsibility and leadership as he/she leads others (his/her co-workers, students, superiors) to God as well. 2. A program that accepts the vibrancy, energy, dynamism and free spirit of single men and women of today, and strives to re-channel this spirit for use in the mission of building Gods kingdom in their homes and campuses. 3. A venue where single men and women can converge and where they can relate and share with other singles.

WHAT DO WE MEAN WHEN WE SAY SFC CAMPUS BASED?

SFC Campus is CFC Singles for Christs official evangelization program based within educational institutions (pre-school, grade school, high school, colleges, campuses, law schools, medical schools, etc.). It caters to single men and women in educational institutions. SFC Campus Based is affiliated to the Couples for Christ Global Mission Foundation and the network of its family ministries within the Philippines and abroad. Note: Official recognition from the campus administration is strongly recommended since this will strengthen greatly the effectiveness of the group in its evangelistic efforts. As such, this manual takes every effort to assist the group in achieving this recognition by providing the necessary documents for it.

THE VISION BEHIND SFC IN THE CAMPUSES

A Renewed Society in Christ through the Campuses
We have a dream We dream of a society very different from what it is today. People say we cannot realize it, yet we dream. We dream of a day when husbands will be faithful to their wives and children. Fathers will protect instead of abuse their children. Lawyers will actually fight for justice, and not just for the highest paying client. Doctors will preserve life, instead of abort it. Governments will serve its people, instead of exploit it. There will be less crime because businessmen will not push their employees into the kind of poverty that breeds crime. We believe this dream can be realized through our work in the campuses. We believe that if we Christianize the values of the teachers who contribute greatly to the formation of our future leaders, lawyers, doctors, businessmen and professionals, government leaders, this vision can be realized. We believe this vision can be realized because it is the Lord who gave it to us. The Mission and Vision of SFC Campus is based on the words of Scripture, to "Unite All Things in Christ" (Ephesians. 1:10). It is a response to the call of our Church leadership to proclaim Christ to all men.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Movers in Campus The basic structure is pastoral in nature, since this is our main concern. (After all, we are in the business of loving). The basic unit in this structure is the household, a group of 8-10 brothers and sisters ideally grouped during their Christian Life Program (CLP), led by the brother and sister, respectively who facilitated them. Households are conducted separately, the brother leads the group of brothers and the sister leads the group of sisters. THE SECTOR CAMPUS PROGRAM HEAD Oversees the campus based groups within his sector (start up and sustenance) Preferably a Unit Head in the chapter THE CHAPTER REPRESENTATIVE CAMPUS Oversees the campus based groups under his chapter (start up and sustenance) Preferably a Household Head

THE HOUSEHOLD HEAD Ideally, the chapter representatives must be able to raise and empower leaders at the end of 6 months after the CLP. He/She must be able to appoint household heads for the brothers and the sisters. During the first few months and start up months of the campus, the chapter representative must lead the household but at the same time, look for potential leaders among his/her members who will in turn take his/her place as the household head. The household is the source of nourishment and empowerment for everyone serving in Campus Based. It is also our way of building and strengthening relationships of the people we serve with. THE CAMPUS SUPPORT GROUP Ideally, a unit in the chapter should support the campus based groups under their chapter. This is for manpower and support especially during the CLP and to sustain SFC in the campus (SFC 3-year formation track and other activities).

SFC CAMPUS ACTIVITIES

SECTOR PROGRAM HEADS MONTHLY RECOLLECTION In addition to the households of the Sector Program Heads, a Campus Core Recollection is held once a month as a pastoral formation and service support tool for these top campus leaders. It is three-hour activity that includes a recollection format and a service meeting afterwards. The service team is composed of: Team Leader leads the worship, summarizes the recollection talk and sharings, and gives the final announcement. He also presides the service meeting The Speaker-Facilitator Gives the talk for the day and helps process sharings and concerns of the participants based on their personal testimonies. Music Ministry assists the Team Leader in leading worship, and teaches new songs to the group. Secretary assists in the registration, and documents the meeting, as well as the recollection. There are three (3) basic reasons for this activity: 1. Spiritual nourishment for the Sector Program Heads. 2. Stronger working relationship among leaders share resources and talents to accomplish specific tasks. 3. Closer relationships with other Sector Program Heads. CHAPTER ASSEMBLY AND TEACHING The campus groups attend the once-a-month chapter assembly and teaching to the chapter where they belong for nourishment as well. HOUSEHOLD The campus group also attends their regular household meetings twice a month in the campus. This is their source of nourishment and empowerment as they serve.

STARTING UP A NEW SFC-CAMPUS GROUP

A Step-by-Step Guide for New SFC Campus-Based Groups

9 STEPS TO START A SFC CAMPUS GROUP

1. DECIDE TO START UP A SFC CAMPUS GROUP IN YOUR SCHOOL

The work of SFC in your campus can begin with just one individual (male or female, student or part of the faculty / administration) who has a longing to bring Christ, through SFC, in his/her campus. You dont have to know exactly how to put it up as long as you are willing to champion the cause of Christ through SFC. The work should start from within the campus since students / members of the faculty or administration have the right to move within the campus and have access to school facilities a privilege SFC Full Time Mission Workers and others do not enjoy.

2. DETERMINE WHICH SECTOR OR PROVINCE OR STATE YOUR SCHOOL FALLS UNDER

Look for the SFC Campus Program Head in your area or contact the CFC Mission Center directly through (632) 7270681 or by fax (632) 7275777. A SFC Campus Program Head will supply you the information you will need as well as guide you through the process of establishing SFC in your campus. Appoint an acting campus leader. In most cases, if the campus chapter representative is the initiator, he must first take on the role as acting household head, unless he has sufficient reason to choose another. If this will be the case, someone within the campus who has a vision for SFC and is willing to champion SFC as much as or more than the initiator should be chosen.

3. BUILD A TEAM / FORM A CORE GROUP

Gather a small group of SFC members working or studying in your school who also have the longing to put up SFC in your school. Share to them your vision of building Gods Kingdom in your campus through SFC. Create an ad-hoc structure (other SFC members who are willing to help or within the school) e.g. setting up posters to gather existing SFC members, applying for the use of facilities / venues etc.

4. GATHER ALL POSSIBLE MEMBERS

All existing SFC members who have joined through community, provincial or foreign SFC groups. (This may be done by going room to room, setting up registration tables, flyers etc.) All interested to be part of SFC Campus. Members of Couples for Christ and its ministries (HOLD, SFC, SOLD) may also be invited to act as advisers and eventually be part of a Campus Support Group (CSG) for SFC in that campus. This gathering may be a simple get-together / getting to know you meeting. Serving snacks is optional in order to help set in the atmosphere of fellowship, after which the initiator shares his vision or intent to set up a SFC Campus group. A suggested format is as follows: 00:00 00:15 00:20 00:30 00:40 00:45 01:00 00:15 00:20 00:30 00:40 00:45 01:00 01:25 Gather/ small talk or exhortation Song and opening prayer to bless the snacks Meal / snack Introductions / games Initiator shares his intent to establish SFC Campus. Others share their thought on the idea Planning (schedule for next meeting, where, who will be acting campus leader etc.)

5. ORGANIZE YOUR CSG (CAMPUS SUPPORT GROUP)

Ideally, the Campus Support Group of the campus is a unit in the chapter so that they can help through manpower and support for the sustenance of the SFC Campus Group. This is usually for support, especially in planning and conducting the CLP in the campus.

6. SEEK RECOGNITION

Refer to the procedures required by your campus. Ask the administration in your campus for the checklist of requirements for recognition. Documents required to facilitate recognition in most universities are included in the SFC Campus Start-up Kit.

7. PLAN AND CONDUCT A CLP

Follow the Basic Christian Life Program (CLP) Track for Singles for Christ. Ask for support from the CSG in conducting the CLP for your campus.

8. ORGANIZE HOUSEHOLD GROUPINGS

Divide the present membership into households. Establishing households are crucial to the work in the campus since at its core, SFCs mission is to preach Christ by caring for people the way He cares for us. The Household is our main tool in achieving this mission. A Standard Household is composed of 5 members (all brothers or all sisters) to be led by a brother and a sister, respectively. Household Heads are discerned by the Chapter Representative. The discernment process is based on: o Love for God o Commitment to SFC in the Campus o Ability to Lead (Do people listen to him? Does he have moral authority, or is he a good witness?)

9. FOLLOW THE 3-YEAR PASTORAL TRACK OF SFC

Refer to the Basic 3-Year Pastoral Track of SFC.

SFC CAMPUS STAGES OF GROWTH:

SFC Campus groups are conferred different stages / levels depending on their growth as a group in their campus. This is done for the following reasons: 1. To give the group goals to work for. This will give them a sense of achievement and growth. (In essence this is incentive for the group to reach greater heights). 2. To ensure that the basic culture of SFC Campus Based is observed. 3. PRAYER MEETINGS
Guiding Us to Heaven: A Guide To Organizing Prayer Meetings in Your Campus

GUIDE

Prayer meetings are part of the culture of Singles for Christ, the single men and women arm of the Couples for Christ community. SFC Campus Based in particular, realized the need for the prayer meeting as a culture to be a lifestyle among its members. It aims to establish a culture of prayer as a community or as a group with the elements of fun, friendship and freedom. This guide aims to orient the campuses about the basics of prayer meetings. It also intends to give the campuses the adequate materials and documents for a paralleled spiritual growth through the tracks, checklist, etc., especially designed for SFC Campus-Based.

What is a Prayer Meeting?

A meeting of SFC members in the campuses held at least twice a month in the premises of their college or university or educational institution. It is a time to come together to worship the Lord, hear His words and share the goodness and blessings He has given the group. It is an affirmation to everyone that truly God works not only in their individual lives but also to other members of their campus as well. Prayer meetings are also used as a venue to respond to the spiritual needs or address the different concerns of the members. Therefore, each campus should strategically select the time and day they will conduct the prayer meeting to ensure that the members are able to attend and participate in it. We should then realize that a prayer meeting should be: o Nourishing It should leave the members encouraged and refreshed of Gods love for them. Christ-centered It should be for Christ, about Christ and be all because of Christ. Exciting It should be fun and be a place where people can enjoy and build friendships.

Sharings - People share about the blessings they have received, victories in their lives and lessons they have learned for the past week. Songs may be sung from time to time to avoid the monotony of sharers. What You Should Know:

o Prayer meetings should be held consistently at least twice a month so as to promote a culture of prayer and sharing among SFC Campus-Based members. The planning for a prayer meeting will be done by the Chapter Representative and Campus Leaders. But the implementation will always be the responsibility of the Campus Leader. In the Basic 3-Year Track for SFC, a topic can be selected to be discussed each month. These topics are carefully chosen to address the basic needs of a SFC member. Therefore, to further this goal, a Talk should be given based on the topic for each month to be followed up by an Implementation Activity on the next prayer meeting of that same month. This activity is to ensure that theres a concrete application of the topic being discussed. The Talk given should always be followed by the Implementation Activity in the next prayer meeting. A Prerogative Talk is to be given in one of the remaining prayer meetings. This talk is to discuss certain issues, concerns or needs that were not covered by the specific topic chosen for that month. The Chapter Representative and Campus Leaders, could choose from the various talk outlines in the teaching track of SFC. The Prerogative Talk and the Free Hand Activity can be conducted at any time during of the month provided that the Talk and Implementation Activity has already been conducted.

SFC HOUSEHOLD LEADERS TRAINING PROGRAM

Basic Training for New SFC Household Leaders

HOUSEHOLD LEADERS TRAINING

SFC Campus Based Program
The Household Leaders Training of the SFC Campus Program serves as the initial training program for new household heads. It also serves as an effective addition to the Facilitators Training for Discussion Group Leaders in a camp. Ideally, this training should be given as an overnight activity, preferably in the house of a participant / organizer of the training so as to ensure a more relaxed venue conducive for group discussions and processing. The overnight activity covers the first two talks. The third talk is given in a separate 3-hour session that introduces these new household heads to their monthly pastoral-monitoring meetings with their Unit Head. The Household Leaders Training is designed to be a low maintenance high result activity. It is to be organized by the Household Head assigned to lead a camp, assisted by the VP Evangelization, for his household members who will be serving as facilitators in his camp. Because of the size of the group, there will be no need to rent venues for the training as mentioned, it can be held in a members house or in the room of the Household Head. Also, because of the schedule, there is no need to prepare meals.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

1. To teach skills in facilitating 2. To teach the concept and skills of being a Household Head

1. Registration should be done per talk to monitor complete attendance of the household leaders. This is crucial to the unit head because it will help hi know who among his members has not yet gone through the training. 2. The first session should begin with full worship. As new Household Leaders, participants should be encouraged to pray harder, to sing in tongues, and prophecy. As leaders, they should be able to fully experience the gifts that the Holy Spirit has given. 3. House rules will be determined depending on the venue. 4. Participants should always be reminded to take down notes during the whole training. 5. The Team Leader explains the rationale behind the the speakers. activity as well as introduce

6. After the first talk, the participants will be led into a fifteen-minute reflection based on the questions found in the talk outline. During this time, participants may move to their own private corner where it may be easier for them to pray and write down their reflections. 7. The session ends with big group sharing. During this time, the team leader or speaker may call on volunteers to share their reflections regarding the first talk. A response song and prayer may be used to end this session. 8. At the end of the break, the music team may play a few gathering songs to bring participants into the second session.

9. After the second talk, the speaker or team leader brings the group (or for interhousehold training divides the group into smaller discussion groups/their own households) into a group sharing and processing session similar to a household meeting. Participants will be asked to share their own concerns based on the issues mentioned in the talk. 10.After the household type discussion the group / each group ends with a prayover. Each household head leads his group for the Commitment of a Household Leader and Pray-over. (Refer to the talk outline of The State of our hearts) 11.Before the final song, announcements should be made regarding the details and schedule of the camp and the first pastoral meeting. (In case of inter-household trainings, this should be done before the participants go into their discussion / processing groups).

COMMITMENT OF A HOUSEHOLDLEADER
1. I will care for my household members by communicating with them regularly, informing them of all SFC activities and by making their concerns my own. 2. I will bring my household members to the Lord by teaching them how to apply Christs words in their personal lives their family, friends, schooling and love life, and in praying for them always. 3. I will teach my household members to love their fellow household members. Their brothers and sisters in SFC, their family and friends and all those around them. 4. I will attend all activities of SFC that are applicable to me especially the regular household leaders training. 5. I will be a witness of Jesus Christ by being pure and righteous, faithful to my studies, loyal to my brothers and sisters in SFC, and my family especially to my parents.

The Household Leaders Prayer

Lord you have searched me and You know me. You know everything I do Find out if there is any unrighteousness in me and guide in the everlasting way. (Psalm 139:1-2,24) Lord Jesus, I thank you for choosing me to serve you by caring for Your people. You know me, my guilt, my sin and my pain. I realize that I am most unworthy, yet You call for me, and so I ask for your grace. Forgive my sinfulness and my stubbornness. Take my heart of stone and turn it into flesh. Teach me to love. When I lack patience, genuine concern and courage, let Your love and strength bridge the gap. Let me love with Your Love and Wisdom, and bless those I will care for that they may love. Fill me, teach me, guide me and give me strength. AMEN.

2.2 To help instill among its members in general, Christian values and principles, in preparation for the challenges they will be facing in life in general. 2.3 To evangelize and re - evangelize single men and women by providing venues where Christ and His gospel can be proclaimed. 2.4 To be of service to the Church and the University by supporting and participating in its endeavors. Sec. 3 PHILOSOPHY We in CFC Singles for Christ believe, 3.1 That God is calling everyone to a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ, 3.2 That this call is not exclusive, but shared with all sectors of society, regardless of age, color, nationality, status and beliefs in life; 3.3 That single men and women have a very special place in God's heart, and that they in return have a very deep sense of love of God, and that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is something that they desire, 3.4 That single men and women have a vibrant, energetic, dynamic and free-spirited nature rather than denying this nature and forcing them into a mold that satisfies our own perception of Christianity and holiness. We accept their nature, not curtailing it, but rechanneling it into an active expression of submission to and participation in the plan of God, 3.5 That single men and women who detached themselves from God have not done so just because of their own liking or plan, but also because of societal deficiencies in family life, education and government structures; 3.6 That single men and women are full of ideas and are blessed by the Lord with talents, and therefore should be given the opportunity to develop these skills and relationships in a healthy Christian environment; 3.7 That single men and women realize the need to make decisions in life; but they should also know that as they do so, God should always be an inseparable part of these decisions knowing also that they are future leaders of families and societies, we realize that their future depends on how they are molded today as God's children; 3.8 That single men and women are responsible as long as they are given the appropriate amount of guidance, trust and loving care, 3.9 That single men and women grow not only from what they receive, but more through with what they are able to share with others, 3.10 That single men and women are at the forefront of a spiritual battle and that the evil one knows just as much, that the deception by the evil one, intended to confuse, mislead, and even initiate the single men and women into his evil plans, comes in the form of day to day experiences in family life, school, society, relationships, values and practices, music, language and ideals; 3.11 But we also believe that as the plan of God unfolds, there is nothing and no one that can separate us from His love in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:38-39). His love is our source of wisdom and His life becomes our model in helping build this present and future life. 3.12 Our Philosophy is a statement of victory for Christ's single men and women. It is a declaration of active submission to the will of God - primarily believing that the true purpose in life is to serve God above all things. Sec. 4 COVENANT The covenant of a CFC Singles for Christ member: 4.1 I believe that I am special because I am a son/daughter of God. Date: __________________________ __________________________ __________________________ Dear ____________________________, CFC Singles for Christ (SFC) is a ministry of Couples for Christ (CFC) Global Mission Foundation, a Catholic Charismatic lay movement officially recognized by the Vatican. Since its official launch in 1994, SFC has spread to already 68 provinces in the Philippines and over 60 countries worldwide. Recognizing that the campuses form a major part of Gods kingdom, SFC has also brought its mission to the Education Institutions setting, with groups established in universities in Manila such as Ateneo de Manila, UP Diliman and Manila, Miriam College, De La Salle Universty, Mapua Institue of Technology, University of Santo Tomas, Far Eastern University, San Beda College, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, as well as colleges and universities in Bacolod, Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Baguio, Laguna and many other provinces. More than our numbers however, the Lord has blessed us with countless stories of people coming to know the Lord and striving to improve themselves in their personal lives. It is for this reason that we write to you. We in the CFC Singles for Christ community would like to ask your permission to be introduced to the institution and be recognized as an official organization. Our objective is to evangelize single men and women of today and bring them back to the Lord and the service of His Church. We believe that there is a strong need for evangelization and SFC can be of help in this work, as well as serve as a support group for the students and faculty while working hand in hand with the school and the Church. Aside from this, SFC also provides opportunities for your employees, students, faculty and staff to be involved with nation-building through Gawad Kalinga (GK), CFCs Work With The Poor Program. We believe that faith and patriotism go hand in hand, and would like to help in building our nation and renewing the land. Other activities include Christian Life Program, Talks and Households (small peer-support groupings). These activities will help in the growth of the faith of SFC members, leaders and their friends.
