The Lexmark Imaging Studio

The Lexmark Imaging Studio is a new software application that integrates the Scan, Copy, Fax and Print functions and includes new photo features such as photo management, photo editing and improved photo printing. To open the Lexmark Imaging Studio: 1. From the Windows Start menu, select Programs. 2. Select Lexmark 2500 Series. 3. Select Lexmark Imaging Studio. Display settings Works best on 96DPI with screen resolution not less than 800x600 screen resolution. There may be some clipping issues on settings other than 96DPI. Images not updated correctly If images looked like they have not been updated correctly, do a Save as operation and re-open the file. Opening the Lexmark Imaging Studio After closing the Lexmark Imaging Studio, wait 3-5 seconds before opening it again. Slideshow and Photo Greeting Card changes Make sure to save your changes on Slideshow and Photo Greeting Card before you exit Lexmark Imaging Studio. Lexmark Imaging Studio will not prompt you to save your changes if you exit. Deleting a computer disk drive Deleting a computer disk drive in Lexmark Imaging Studio will prompt a message to confirm the deletion. If you click Yes, all contents of that driver including Lexmark Imaging Studio will be deleted and will cause some errors to occur. Poster preview may display incorrectly The poster preview may display incorrectly when used on some images, especially those with transparent background. The printer output, however, will not have such defect. Some dialogs of the Lexmark Imaging Studio may contain untranslated strings You may need to update your system by downloading the Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 Language Pack corresponding to the language of your system. You can find the language pack at http://www.microsoft.com.

Video Cards
If you experience "slow response" on the User Interface, verify that your video driver is the latest available for your operating system. Many vendors will make updated drivers available on a Website.

Speeding up your system

Print in Normal or Quick Print mode if possible. Remove as many unused fonts as possible from your system. While printing, close all unnecessary software applications. Increase computer memory.

No communication with All-In-One

If communications problems occur while printing/copying through a USB Hub, remove the Hub and connect your All-In-One directly to the computer. If communications errors persist, please follow these steps: Unplug your All-In-One Power Supply for 30 seconds. Plug the Power Supply back in. Make sure the All In One is turned on.

Restart your computer.

Print quality and color issues

Print outs are too dark or fuzzy Some software applications have their own half toning and color correction methods. If possible, disable these functions in the application. Generally, the Lexmark 2500 Series driver's half toning and color correction methods produce better results.

Spool formats
The different spool formats supported include LEMF, RAW, and EMF. The Lexmark 2500 Series is designed to work best with the LEMF spool format. The other formats can cause unpredictable results and should only be used when LEMF mode fails to print correctly. Note: Changing the Default Data type while some applications are open can result in printing problems. For best results, close all applications before changing this setting.

"Out of Memory" message with high print quality

If you receive this message while using Best print quality, try using Normal print quality instead. If you encounter memory problems during high resolution scanning, try scanning at lower resolution.

Borderless Printing
Some applications do not support borderless printing, and may put margins on your output even if you correctly choose a borderless paper size from the Lexmark 2500 Series Printing Preferences. Particular applications may require the user to change the Page Setup to remove margins, select an option that expands the image to fit the page, or alter other settings in the application. Other applications impose margins on all output, and will not support borderless printing. Use your application's Print Preview option to check on your output before printing.

Bi-directional support
If your printer is not functioning correctly, go through Printer Properties for your Lexmark 2500 Series and insure that bi-directional support is turned on.

DOS Printing
The Lexmark 2500 Series does not support printing from DOS.

Windows XP/2000
Increasing Computers Memory
Making sure you have at least 128 MB of RAM and setting Virtual Memory Initial Size to at least 300MB will eliminate many printing problems. You should also set the Virtual Memory Maximum Size to at least 512MB. Check your Windows Help system on your PC for information on how to do this. Start menu, select Help

Application specific Issues

In Adobe PhotoShop 5.x, if you are logged into Windows 2000 as a user without administrator access, when you choose the Print, CMYK Setup, Profile Setup, or Profile to Profile command PhotoShop returns the error, "Could not complete the [command name] command because of a disk error." This is a known Adobe Photoshop issue.

Installation Issues
If you are using Windows 2000 or Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4, and the printer driver does not install, visit http://support.microsoft.com. Download the appropriate support package. For more information, see Article 822831 on the same website.
