PD The Boers were farmers in Africa that were from European descent.

They lived under British Rule in Cape Colony but wanted to be free from their rule, so they went on the Great Trek. The result of this was the eventual creation of the Orange free state and Transval. The British went to war with the Boers in the Boer war. Joseph Chamberlin was a British politician who had influence in the second Boer war. Rhodes discovered diamond and gold in Africa, making him become one of the richest British men. PF Indian Imperialism The Sepoy Mutiny occurred because the Indian soldiers fighting for the British were displeased with British rule. Their excuse for uprising was because of religious reasons. The empress of India was another name for queen Victoria, because of Britains imperial rule over India. Strategic Locations The panama canal was an essential location for the U.S. in their imperialistic efforts. It allowed them to get from the pacific to Atlantic oceans faster. This helped them with trade and keeping control of territories. Indo China was also a strategic place that helped secure a place for the French in the world of trade and militarily. World War I In the first world war, there were two forces : the allies and the central powers. On the eastern front you had Russia for the Allies. The central powers were boxed in by Russia, Great Britain, and France. So the Germans tried to go after France first with the Von Schlieffen Plan. The Treaty of Brest Litovale and Balfour Declaration were attempts to make peace with enemies, weather that be the Germans or the Jews. African Imperialism Leopold II started the African Imperial revolution and from then on everyone was scrambling for Africa. Many European powers went in and took over African countries, but Menelik II helped keep the Ethiopian people from Imperial control. Livingston was a master African observer who was lost in the depths of Africa, only to be found by Stanley. With the Imperial control came conflicts, such as the Battle of Adowa. Asian Conflicts

The Sino and Russo Japanese wars were both wars that were fought by the Japanese with the Russians/Chinese for the lands in Korea and Manchuria. Japan won and established their Asian dominance. The treaty that ended the Russo Japanese war was the treaty of Portsmouth. China and .. idk what that says The opium war was a problem where the British imported opium and it was affecting the Chinese population and government. This led to Extraterritoriality. The treaty of Nanking was what stopped this problem. This also led to the Open door policy. The boxer rebellion was another conflict in China that led to a problem with the government.
