Pedagogy: The Department of mechanical Engineering adopts innovative methodology in imparting in- depth knowledge of the subjects through lecture-based approach and small-group tutorials, special classes to back log students and experimental work, weekly seminars and group discussions to develop learning and presentation skills. Counselors are assigned with 22 students to monitor the specific academic needs of the students. Students of both UG and PG courses are required to complete a project/thesis as a part of the curriculum under the supervision of a well experienced faculty member. The students are allowed to work for their project work internally and at industries.

Evaluation: The assessment of the students performance in each course will be based on continuous internal evaluation through two mid semester examinations and two quiz examinations. In addition the students are required to fulfill attendance and assignments for all subjects before the completion of the semester end examinations with high level of transparency.

20

Ph.D. The Department also offers Ph.D programs in different specializations of the Mechanical Engineering. The research activities of the department involve areas like condition monitoring, nanotechnology, composite materials.

Duration Duration for Ph.D. programmes is three years for full time scholars and four years respectively for part time scholars.

Evaluation: Ph.D students have to undergo a course work and they must pass through pre Ph.D examination and submit their thesis / dissertation before the stipulated period. The candidate should give a seminar on the research topic after obtaining positive response from the adjudicators.
