See related Isoxilan informationAbbreviation Index Manufacturer Distributor Contents Indications BioFemme United Lab Isoxsuprine HCl Uterine hypermotility disorders: Threatened abortion, premature labor & dysmenorrhea. An adjunct therapy in the treatment of arteriosclerosisobliterans, thromboangitis obliterans (Buerger's disease) & Raynaud's disease. Uterine hypermotility 100 mg in 500 mL infusion fluid w/ IV infusion rate of 1-1.5 mL/min up to 2.5 mL/min until control is maintained. If IV infusion is not feasible, 10 mg IM (2 mL amp) every 3 hr for 24 hr then every 4-6 hr for 48 hr. Maintenance: 2 tab qid when contractions have ceased for 48 hr.Circulatory disturbances Adult 2 tab tid-qid, or 5-10 mg IM (1-2 mL) up to tid. May be taken with or without food (May be taken w/ meals, milk or antacids to minimise GI discomfort.).

Contraindications Following arterial hemorrhage, CV disease & severe anemia. Hypotension, tachycardia, premature detachment of the placenta & premature labor w/ infection. Special Precautions Adverse Drug Reactions In uterine hypermotility, do not use large vol of fluid to prevent fluid overload. Monitor BP & heart rate. Hypotension, tachycardia, palpitations, dizziness & flushing. May cause slight increase in fetal heart rate if used as IV infusion in premature labor. View ADR Monitoring Website

Category C: Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the foetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women or studies in women and animals are not available. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus.
