A Word From Simon Smith First off I would like to say I am not a doctor or health professional. So any references I make to medical terms or conditions are not intended to treat or diagnose. You should always consult with your chosen health care professional. Please don't let that put you off. Our health system or sickness system as I like to call it doesn't have the answers all the time. Mostly because they don't take into account what the body is trying to communicate. They are too busy trying to treat the symptoms instead of taking a holistic view and getting to the cause. When it comes to food/diet which Aloe Vera falls under, then doctors of medicine have very little training - No more than a day in the 7 years of study is the norm from country to country. My Intention It is my intention that the contents of this short manual will give you the incentive to grow and explore other recipes / uses for Aloe Vera. I feel confident that if you give it a go you will come to truly love and appreciate the wonderful health giving attributes that Aloe Vera has to offer, as I do. The Human Body is Born to Survive The human body is pretty amazing and it comes with a built in program called survival. Thats right, from the time you popped out of your mum you were designed to live to 140 to 160 years. This was evidenced by the Biosphere 2 The Experiment back in the early 90s. Clearly though most of us are not living that long. So what is happening ? I believe there are several factors and they all have to do with nutrient loss: 1. Crop Nutrient Losses: Decades of agriculture have overworked and depleted mineral levels in the soil

Copyright 2008 http://aloe-vera-health-benefits.com

2. Poor Digestion: Eating too much or too quickly combined with stress can cause indigestion. Indigestion reduces the absorption of vitamins and minerals. 3. Over Cooking: Can easily destroy valuable food nutrients. 4. Microwave Cooking: Studies suggest that microwave cooking alters the nutritional structure of food. 5. Food Storage: Length of storage and freezing can deplete the nutritional value of most foods. 6. Food Selection: Eating a too limited range from different food groups can result in nutrient deficiencies. 7. Food Omission: Allergies to foods, crash dieting and poorly designed vegetarian diets can omit significant dietary sources and nutrients. 8. Environmental Factors: Herbicides and pesticides are often used on crops and can leave them with low nutritional value. 9. Antibiotics: Antibiotics can interfere with the intake of essential nutrients. 10. Poor Lifestyle Habits: Smoking, caffeine and alcohol consumption can inhibit the absorption of vitamins and minerals or accelerate the loss of nutrients. 11.Stress: Be it physical or emotional, stress can increase the bodys requirement of vitamins and minerals. 12.Out of Balance: The levels of one vitamin or mineral in the body has an effect on the other, so if one is out of balance or missing, all are adversely affected. With antioxidants, one is not nearly as strong as several combined since each enhances the power of the others. 13.Nutrient Variance: There are substantial differences between on fruit or vegetable and another. One tomato can have 10 times more nutritional value than another. Do you know which tomato you ate?

Aloe Vera can provide the body with those much needed nutrients. It contains more than 75 nutrients including: 7 essential sugars [Glyconutrients] Twelve vitamins 18 amino acids Twenty minerals Enzymes *It is very important to use Aloe Barbadensis Miller as this is recognized as being the most potent. Consuming good quality Aloe Vera on a regular basis can do wonders for your health. Ancient civilizations have acknowledged this for eons but is only in the past 50 years being confirmed by science. There is no doubt in my mind that the good nutrition that Aloe Vera contains as Mother Nature intended are essential for healthy living in our modern world. More on Glyconutrients Cell to Cell Communication You will have seen from my website http://aloe-vera-health-benefits.com that I subscribe to a basic formula for optimal health. If you give you body what it needs it can look after its own health challenges The human body is comprised of over 560 trillion cells, each of which has a specific function that must be performed properly and at the right time for the body to work properly as a whole. For cells to work properly, they must be in constant communication with the rest of the body. Each of the 560 trillion cells in the body needs to eat to function the way its supposed to. But the cells dont have their own nervous systems. The dont know :how to feed themselves how to fight off invaders how to secrete enzymes

how to secrete hormones how to make repairs All of these vital functions are controlled by intercellular communication. You may wonder as I did how its possible for trillions of cells to communicate and function properly when they are all so interdependent. What body system could possibly manage such a complex operation? What is controlling the bodys nutritional switchboard? For many years these questions stymied medical science. The human brain is capable of amazing things but it simply isnt directly connected to every cell of the body. What is the mechanism or chemical messaging system that allows cell to cell communication. In 1999, Gunter Blobel won the Nobel Prize for finding the answer to these puzzling questions. Blobel discovered that the human bodys cellular communication network is based on some very special nutrients, 8 essential sugars, also known as glyconutrients. The Aloe Vera plant contains 7 of them. No wonder Aloe Vera is known as the Miracle Plant Conclusion Heres to Aloe Vera giving you the wonderful health benefits it has given me. From my family to yours in health and prosperity.

How to Grow Aloe Vera Aloe Vera propagates via pupping or seed. It has certainly been my experience that it is much quicker to grow Aloe Vera from pups than from seed. Some Aloe Vera documents incorrectly state that Aloe can be grown from a cutting, but they are probably confusing Aloe Vera with other Aloe-like plants.

What are Pups? Pups are the small offshoots that appear at the base of the plant [see photo above]. When they reach a size where they appear to be crowding out the mother plant, just break the soil up and gently separate the pup roots from those of the mother and repot them. [see photo below]

Planting or Re-Potting When first planting or re-potting your Aloe Vera plant the potting soil should be moderately fertile and fast draining with a couple of inches of gravel in the bottom of the pot.

How to Use Aloe Vera Preparation New leaves grow from the centre upward so it is best to leave the fresh, young leaves be which are located on the top of the plant, and just cut the older, outer leaves.

The aloe leaf consists of rind containing sap, the latex layer containing its bitter juice, and the gel layer which is a rich source of over 200 naturally occurring nutritional substances.

Peel off the skin from Aloe Vera. Try not to get the yellow latex juice on your clothes as it will stain. The easiest way to avoid this is to wash the aloe under running tap water until it is clear and transparent.

Skin Care Ideas The easiest way is mix Aloe gel into products you already have, such as shampoo, moisturizing cream and suntan lotion. However it is possible to make your own products. Follow are a few of my favorites. Soap - to help dry or itchy skin Cleanser - to help dry or itchy skin Moisturizing cream - especially good for dry skin Facial Mask - to help cleanse and hydrate face Hydrating Facial Mist - hydrating the face Body Butter - good for skin on whole body Shampoo - to help dry or itchy scalp Suntan lotion - for its cooling and healing effect NOTE: Some recipes require heat to complete. While it is a personal choice I believe it is essential that microwave ovens are not used for heating as microwaving can alter the structure of products and destroy the health giving enzymes. While it is slower, I suggest you use a bowl in water and control the heat by bringing the water to the boil.

Aloe Vera helps to heal wounds of all kinds and acne is no different. The best way is to use fresh Aloe Vera Gel and apply it topically as required. Avoid using normal soap as many are very alkaline. You will need: Tea tree oil soap (this has antibacterial and antifungal attributes). 100% Aloe Vera Gel Application: 1. Gently cleanse your face using tea tree oil soap* 2. Pat dry 3. Some Recipe Ideas Aloe Vera is a plant and like many other plants it can be used in food to add flavor and much needed nutrients to food. So just use your imagination and mix Aloe Vera Gel into food you love - avoid over heating (If you have to heat don't boil only simmer) NOTE: Take the time to wash the Aloe Vera Gel properly in the preparation stage so there is no sap residue present as this has laxative properties. If you dont do this you may end up with more than you bargained for. These are a couple of my favorites to get you started. Yogurt - Mix Aloe Vera diced into small gel cubes 10% with natural yogurt 90%. Add some honey or your favorite fresh fruit to taste. Curry and Chilli Meals Mix Aloe Vera either diced or minced. Approx 60mls (gel contents of one leaf) to your favorite chilli or curry.

100% Aloe Juice You will need: 100% Aloe Vera Gel Vitamin C powder NOTE: For every 3 cups of Aloe Vera Gel add 1 teaspoon of vitamin C powder. The Vitamin C is used to stabilize/preserve formulation so it can be stored. Method: 1. Add ingredients to blender at low speed 2. Store in a covered glass container in your refrigerator Application: 1. Start by mixing 2 tablespoons daily with water or your favorite fruit juice (This will help to disguise the gooey texture and makes it easier to swallow) 2. Slowly increase number of tablespoons of gel until you get a loose poo 3. When this happens cut back 1/2 tablespoon and this will be your saturation point.

NOTE: Consuming the pure Aloe Vera Juice regularly is the most effective way to reap the medicinal benefits of Aloe Vera.
