Associate Prof Dr. Shahul Hameed is an authority in the complex and growing field of Islamic Accounting. Dr.

Shahul Hameed graduate with a Diploma in Commerce (Financial Accounting), Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman,
Kuala Lumpur. A fellow member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK, he also holds a PhD in
Accounting from the University of Dundee, Scotland, where he wrote a thesis on the need for Islamic
Accounting., an MA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lancaster, UK and a Post Graduate
Diploma in Islamic Revealed Knowledge from the International Islamic University Malaysia.

Flexibility and technical expertise have enabled him to diversify his local and global work experience. Dr.
Shahul initially started out in public practice with Kassim Chan & Co.,CPA, moved on to lecture at UiTM and
subsequently worked as a cost accountant at FIMA Metal Box. In 1987.He had overseas to Papua New Guinea
as an Accountant in the Metro Group but soon returned to teaching and lectured in financial and computerised
accounting at the Administrative College of Papua New Guinea for four years. Since returning to Malaysia in
1991, he has taught at the International Islamic University in Kuala Lumpur. He was the Head of the
Department of Accounting, Kulliyah of Economics and Management Sciences at the University for four years
from 2003 until May 2007, during which he organised the development and implementation of a new
curriculum for the B.Accounting in line with IES requirements. He was an active member of the Halatuju II
committee for Accounting programs of the Ministry of Higher Education and holds several curriculum advisory
and examiner positions for various colleges in the country.

Dr Shahul has been a Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants since 2005 and has been
working actively in its Qualifying Examinations and Investigations committees for a number of years. He has
published several scholarly articles in local and international refereed journals, attended and presented
numerous papers at International Conferences and has been invited as speaker in Indonesia, Philippines and
London. Dr Shahul has acted as senior consultant fellow to the Accounting and Auditing Organizations for
Islamic Financial Institutions in Bahrain in 2007 and has published his first book on “Accounting and Auditing
for Islamic Financial Institutions” (IIUM Press) (in print 2008). He joined INCEIF on 1st December 2008 and is
attached to the Department of Finance and Accounting. He is married with 4 children.
