BRIDGES FOR THE MIND 2012 MATHEMATICS EXPERIENCES AND INTERACTIONS BETWEEN ARTS AND
April 12-13, 2012 @ University of Jyvskyl, Finland
Open Seminar and Kick-Off Meeting by the Department of Art and Culture Studies
>>> Our event serves as a kick-off meeting for the introduction of the TAIKU's application plan for the Finnish Academy's new call: "Ihmisen mieli / Human Mind". We would like to provide an opportunity to everyone for an open discussion to develop together our project plan. WE NEED YOUR CONTRIBUTION! COME AND JOIN US! >>> Short Overview: the knowledge gained through blurring the boundaries of the science, art and technology becomes our common experience of heterogeneity, and this common experience is also expressed in the transformation of our sociocultural practices. Our research group is intend to map the creative capabilities of the human mind on the borderland of mathematical and artistic thinking and practice. >>> Our interdisciplinary research project provides a common platform for scientists and humanists to bridge the gaps between mathematics, aesthetics, cognitive sciences, history of science and art, cultural studies, philosophy of mind, educational theories and pedagogical studies and to accumulate a significant knowledge in topical issues, such as learning and creativity. We place particular emphasis on organizing scientific events (symposia, conferences and experiential workshops) and on the publication of books. On the basis of the Finnish research infrastructure and specialists we would like to establish a self-sustaining and permeating international network of scholars, artists and educators and secure the further progress of the field at an international level.
