Waldorf Lilys Babushka Dolly

By Adriana (kaaktus on Ravelry)

Every Waldorf doll needs her own dolly! Made from scraps of pure wool, stuffed with pure wool roving and embellished with pure wool felt and pure cotton threads, this little dolly is a delight to make. Youll be tempted to make a whole basket of them for your favourite Waldorf dolls Fast and simple, a fantastic way to use up odds and ends from your craft stash. Enjoy! REQUIREMENTS Scraps of pure wool yarn you can use up even the smallest scraps by knitting the doll in colour blocks or stripes etc. Total yardage required will depend on the gauge of your yarn but you really wont need much at all Knitting needles - (see note on gauge below). Sewing-up needle. Pure wool roving or other natural materials for stuffing. Circle of pure wool felt for face (size will depend on gauge of yarn used and finished size of doll). Scraps of cotton embroidery thread for embellishment.

GAUGE Not really important, as long as you use a needle size a couple smaller than the recommended needle size to ensure that you end up with a tightly knitted fabric so the stuffing doesnt show. ASSEMBLY Using mattress stitch, sew two pieces together, leaving the bottom cast on edges open for stuffing. Stuff your doll to desired firmness (bearing in mind its a flat dolly) and close opening. Cut a round piece of wool felt and attach to head for face using blanket stitch (I recommend experimenting with a round piece of paper first to make sure you are happy with the size of your face before tracing this stencil onto your precious felt). Embroider facial features as desired (I used small running stitches for the eyes and mouth and satin stitch for the cheeks). Place in your Waldorf dolls arms and smile. 3|Page
