UNIT 02: Dos and Donts

ENGLISH 02

Weight loss, Diet & Nutrition Info

Dos and donts in a diet
Eat fiber. We digest protein more slowly than carbohydrates and fat, so it takes fewer calories to fill you up.
DON'T miss out on sleep. Recent studies show that sleep deprivation can make you fatter. When you dont
get enough sleep, your body produces more ghrelin, a hormone that makes you hungry, and less leptin, a
hormone that increases satiety.
Learn to Love Vegetables. Vegetables fill you up without filling you out.
DON'T eat standing up. When you eat only in a particular place, your brain doesnt associate other places
with food, and the bodily signals that stimulate appetite are activated less frequently.
Before You Dine Out, Eat In. Try eating some nuts before leaving the house; the protein helps control your
appetite.
DON'T eat in the dark. In the light you feel more embarrassed if others watch what you eat. Also, you cant see

your food and how much youre eating.

BBC News

Heavy traffic in Cairo

Cairo is notorious for its overcrowded roads, irregular driving practices and insecure old vehicles, but
also for its air pollution. In recent months though, environmental studies indicate there are signs of
improvement because of the removal of many of the capital's antiquated black and white taxis dating
back to the 1960s and 70s and in a poor state of repair.
The idea is popular with customers - they can now travel in air-conditioned comfort. Banks and car
manufacturers are glad for the extra business in hard economic times. As for the taxi drivers, most are
delighted to be driving new cars, although there are a few complaints about the new color. Many
people prefer the old black and white cabs to the new white ones.
