Joyce Hawkes, Ph.D.


Joyce Hawkes spent fifteen years as a well-respected microbiologist and atheist. She was hit in the head by a leaded glass window in 1984, had a NDE, and has spent the last twenty years as a wellrespected healer. She has explored spiritual and healing traditions during extensive travel to the Philippines, England, India, and Bali, where she discovered many indigenous healers have come to their calling through NOEs. His experiences in researching his books, Life Lessons, which he coauthored with Elisabeth KObler Ross, and The Needs of the Dying, now published in over 11 countries, range from meeting Mother Teresa and visiting Calcutta, health and end-of-life care, police and aviation disaster work, to his present position as Director of Palliative Care for Citrus Val/ey Health Partners, which has three hospitals and an award winning hospice in the Los Angeles area. His work has been discussed in the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Business Week and Ufe Magazine, and has been featured on CNN-Cross Fire, NBC, MSNBC, PBS, Entertainment Tonight and Sally Jessy Raphael. The Healing Connection


Chicago lANDS will be sponsoring a "Healing Connection," allowing attendees to sample various healing modalities which are often received during NOEs. The Healing Connection will be available on Thursday and Friday from 7:30 am - 7 pm and on Saturday from 7:30 am - 5 pm. The healers at the Chicago conference will be carefully selected, representing the best professional healers available. More information will be provided in your registration packet.
