Mr. HART AND BING

Executive Summary
Case overview: The case is about the two employees who were interviewed by counselor. There is a work group of four men and three women. The payment is done in terms of a piecework incentive basis. The counselor interviewed five times for both the employees, which is Bing, the employee and Mr. Hart, the supervisor.

Analysis: How Bing felt? Carries two or three panels at the same time and inspect them and things that it is legal to do. He feels that Mr. Hart has changed his friendly after he got promoted. When he was called down by the supervisor, he didnt like that and went to the union representative. He says that it is allowed according to the contract, so he feels he is right and so feels like leaving this group and asks for the transfer. He also feels that he can earn money through his singing skills. He feels that Mr. Hart is partial towards the men and very decent and polite with the womens. He feels that Mr. Hart thinks that he is the leader of the group and due to this he always keeps an eye on me. How Mr. Hart Felt? He feels that Bing is heading himself into showdown with him. He has observed and also got complain regarding inspecting of two or three panels at same time, he asked him many times not to do but he still did it.

He also came to know that Bing has approached the union representative. He also mad eit clear with both of them about this issue and also warned Bing if he didnt changed his way of working then official action will be taken. He feels that Bing behavior is also having some effect on the rest of the group members. Bing purposely tries to agitate the other group members against him. He also takes other group members with him before lunch whistle. He feels he has done everything to change him but have failed.

Why there is conflict? We think that Bing is not able to accept Mr. Hart as a supervisor since he used to be one of workers working with him. Through the case we felt that quality policies may not have well communicated to employees hence Mr. Bing feels that he is doing right thing by inspecting two to three panels at one time. Also can be seen that, professional difference have became Personal difference. Mr. Bing feels that Mr. Hart has changed after getting promotion. The effect of this can lead to many problems like there can be problems between the union representative and management. Group suggestions: There are two options available with company since Mr. Bing cannot continue working in this group, that is 1. Transfer Mr. Bing to another group. 2. Sack Mr. Bing from the company Selecting 2nd option would invite small issue in the company, becoming big and political problem (might be Union would grab this chance to break off regular work and may go on strike) Hence, we think Adopting 1st option would be better option.
