Student Information Maintenance System Project

The purpose of this project is to create a new application STUDENT INFORMATION MAINTENANCE SYSTEM.It is used to maintain student information which includes managing personal details, maintaining attendance, maintaining marks, internals and generating reports. We can easily add, modify, update or delete the information whenever required.The tedious job of managing attendance can be easily performed using the system and the regular class time table can also be preserved in the database. Periodic and university marks of every student can be sustained and reports can be generated.

OBJECTIVE Student Information Maintenance System (SIMS) is developed to efficiently maintain information of students which is currently done using files and records. Information maintenance includes maintaining students personal details, attendance, periodic marks, university marks, internals. Present system of information maintenance consumes huge amount of time and demands lot of man power since every activity must be done manually. In order to make information maintenance more time efficient and to reduce manpower involved we develop SIMS. ADVANTAGES Adding, deleting and updating information can be performed. Man power and time consumption is very minimum. The system is much more secure than file system. Multiple users can simultaneously use the system without any concurrency and consistency problems. Reports can be generated and viewed easily. The system is user friendly and interactive.

STUDENTS PERSONAL DETAILS

The personal details of students can be stored it in the database. The information of students can be added or deleted as per the requirement.The user can enter all the personal details of the student which includes his name, admission number, date of birth, branch marks obtained in the qualification exam, caste, personal address etc. Once details entered its just a button click to save them all in the database. Also if we wish to edit any details of a student its just another button click. Each and every combo box is maintained as a separate table in the database. If we wish to add any field to any combo box it can be easily done by using the edit option in the main menu. Thus, the system will be very easy to handle even for novice user.

ATTENDANCE
The system provides a very easy and user friendly way to handle attendance. The user must enter the various fields asked for in the form like branch, semester, section, period etc after which he can enter the roll numbers of the students absent in the given text box. User can select whose numbers he is going to enter, whether absentees or presentees, by selecting the appropriate radio button provided. TIME TABLE Depending on the number of periods, the system generates the required number of cells in the grid. The user can then place the name of the period in each cell. The staff name who handles the subject can also be stored in the database. Time table for regular classes can be viewed using the system and reports can be generated.Reports can be generated in seconds. Report can be generated for both attendance for a single subject and period attendance. A printed copy can be taken if required.

SUBJECT DETAILS Different subjects will be handled in colleges and many new subjects are being added. In order to maintain them the system is provided with this module. Any number of subjects can be added and the subjects stored in the database can be viewed as and when required. This module acts as a source for other modules in case they require the subject details. MARK MAINTENANCE The marks students score in their periodic and university exams can be easily stored and maintained in the database. It is pretty easy to add, view and modify the marks.Reports of students marks can be generated and a printed copy can be taken, if required, for both periodic and university exams. INTERNALS MAINTENANCE The internal marks students score based on their periodic performance can be stored and maintained in the database. As in marks maintenance, user can add, view and modify internals. Reports can also be generated and printed copy can be taken PLACEMENT ACTIVITIES The purpose of this module is, firstly, to obtain the details of various companies visiting the college and generating the required list of students eligible to attend the particular company. After the students complete each level of test, a new list of selected students will be generated.Finally the students who clear all the tests will be declared selected and a new list will be generated which will contain various details including placed company name, remuneration details.
