First dividing the bike into layers shown on the below page and templating parts that are

not needed at this point in the process, so other parts of the bike do not interfere with the current peace of geometry being worked on within the scene. Then named the layers according to that part of the bike by reference photographs also giving some indication of the types of textures needed for the final Render.

Picture 3 has a leather texture taken from a desk chair taken with a Fuji Film FinePix Camera. The textures of the pictures 4, 5, 6 were created in Photoshop with the use of the Gradient Tool then applied versus types of Texture Effects from the Filter Effects Menu giving a bit more of a pattern. The bottom half of picture 7 showing uvs with texture for the frame of the Bike was rotated to better match the same Direction of the gradient for both sides of the bike frame.

720p render Mental Ray

The texture on the side of the bikes folk does not seem quite right at this moment, as it looks like its slanting, although the clogs and bike chain seem ok in a shadowy grey that is noticeable in the picture Render above. Also having the Speedy Logo in white made in Photoshop sticks out well from the rest of the Frame of the bike that is in a textured grey gradient. Below is the first try of projecting a photograph onto geometry, one thing that is most noticeable is the shading on the top part is much more saturated, showing the cut off point of where the other Geometry is overlapped. So the top pece of the geometry and its applied Shader was changed to match the shade of the bottom half making both parts look as one photograph.

Also having the bottom plain level with the placing of the bike has made the bottom half of the photograph slanted slightly which is noticeable looking at the grass of the picture above, looking at the whole bike from the above angle also makes the bike seem smaller than it should be. One other noticeable thing is the darkness of the bike as lighting has not been applied to the scene yet. Then changing the direction of the bottom plain to match the position of the top plain evening the picture out making the bike look like its actually touching the ground of the photograph.

Full HD Mental Ray Render Above Rotating the bike so its looks more like its resting in the fence, applying a Directional Light shows the colours of the bike much better with the white to grey gradients more clearly shown above compared to the two pictures on the previous page. Below is the original photograph using in the Projection as the camera Perspective 1 that was zoomed in closer and rotated slightly gaining a better close up of the bike. Also a volume light was applied for better illumination.

The other picture above I think would have had too much sun shine if the bike was placed at the front side of the fence. Although as an improvement it would have been good to match the direction of the bike shadow pointing in the same direction as the suns rays and shadows of the fence would have been a challenge.
