Power Factory relay model description

1 Model general description

The Areva P54X relay family model consists of a main relay model and 4 subrelays: Polarizing Differential Overcurrent Voltage

The following functionalities are modelled: Main relay: 5 polygonal phase distance zones (Z1P, Z2P, Z3P, Z4P, ZPP block) 5 polygonal ground distance zones (Z1G, Z2G, Z3G, Z4G, ZGP block) 5 mho phase distance zones (Z1PMho, Z2PMho, Z3PMho, Z4PMho, ZPPMho block) 5 mho ground distance zones (Z1GMho, Z2GMho, Z3GMho, Z4GMho, ZGPMho block) 5 phase timers (T1P, T2P, T3P, T4P, TZPP block) 5 ground timers (T1G, T2G, T3G, T4G, TZPG block) 5 phase current and 5 ground current starting thresholds (Sensit. Iph>1 Ignd>1, Sensit. Iph>2 Ignd>2, Sensit. Iph>3 Ignd>3, Sensit. Iph>4 Ignd>4, Sensit. Iph>P Ignd>G block) Auto-reclose function (Reclosing block) Load blinders (Load blinder block, please note that the reverse angles must be adapted). Note: The simple setting mode isnt supported; individual distance ohmic reaches must be entered. Polarizing sub relay: Double polarizing block for each distance zone mocking up the polarizing voltage as the mixture of Self and Memory polarizing voltage set by the Dist. Polarizing parameter (Polarizing Z1 Self, Polarizing Z1 Memory, Polarizing Z2 Self, Polarizing Z2 Memory Polarizing ZP Self, Polarizing ZP Memory block). Please note that the DistPolarizing variable must be set in the Logic tab page of the Poladder Z1, Poladder Z2Poladder Zp block. Directional feature (Dir Z1, Dir Z2, Dir Z3, Dir Z4, Dir ZP block). Please note that in any directional dialog the Directional angle, phi setting must be set equal to the Delta char angle relay setting. Differential sub relay: Differential current differential with CT ratio/connection compensation(Differential, Wd_1 Adapt, Wd_2 Adapt block) Overcurrent sub relay: Four phase overcurrent elements (I>1 and I>2 (with inverse characteristics), I>3 and I>4 (time defined) block) One negative sequence overcurrent element (I2> block) Four ground overcurrent elements (IN>1 and IN>2 (with inverse characteristics), IN>3 and IN>4 (time defined) block) Four sensitive E/F overcurrent elements (ISEF>1 and ISEF>2 (with inverse characteristics), ISEF>3 and ISEF>4 (time defined) block) One thermal image element (a double thermal time constant is present the feature is implemented by two blocks: Thermal image 1 and Thermal image 2) Voltage sub relay: Two phase overvoltage elements (V>1 and V>2 block) Two phase undervoltage elements (V<1 and V<2 block) Two neutral voltage displacements elements (VN>1 and VN>2 block)

2 Relay not supported features

The following features are not supported: Single phase trip Power swing/out of step. Switch onto fault protection. Broken conductor. Aided DEF. Loss of load. Check synchronization functions. Z1 extension. Circuit breaker failure protection.

The model implementation has been based on the information available in the MiCOM P543, P544, P545, P546 P54x/EN M/I74 document.
