LEDshaveagreatpotentialtoprovidehighlyefficientlightingwithlittle environmentalpollutionincomparisontotheIncandescentLamps(ICLs) andflorescentlamps(FTLs,CFLs). PenetrationofLEDsinIndiacouldsignificantlyreducelightingloadas almost1720%ofelectricityisconsumedforlighting,whichisalsoa majorcontributingfactorofpeakdemand. DirectionalLightingwithflexibilityincombinationsandcompactness makingthemveryusefulinvirtuallyalllightingapplications. Durabilityandlowpowerconsumptionleadingtoveryeconomicallife cyclecosts. EnergymandateswilldriveupLEDefficacytonearlybeyond incandescentandnearlylowvoltageMHandfluorescentsourcesby 2020. Priceswillinevitablystarttofall,asnewmanufacturerenterthemarket andcompeteformarketshare.
