How to have Faith in God

Mark 2:4-5 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, Son, your sins are forgiven When you look at this passage you should ask yourself what stops you from coming to Jesus. There was sold out sold seats because news spread that Jesus was coming to town, but their faith got them in the VIP section. How many churches have sold out seats on Sundays? People arent really faithful that much these days. People go almost mad over Super bowl or concert tickets these events sell out all the time, I believe our faith in God has seen a huge decline just by the way people easily make fun of God on television in our day. How many people would be willing to stand up during an entire church service because of standing room only? For the majority of us if we cant find a place to sit at church then we would probably go home. If we have to go to work in the morning then we will probably stay home, and God probably says to us O Ye of little faith. Jesus was impressed by the faith of the men that brought the paralytic to him on the mat. It seems that Jesus rarely saw this type of faith to be impressed by it. Mark 8:12 But he sighed deeply in his spirit, and said Why does this generation seek a sign? Mark 9:19 He answered and said O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? Mark 6:5 Now He could do no mighty work there, except that he laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. Think about this for a moment Jesus the son of God could was limited to doing only a few miracles because of the peoples lack of faith in his hometown. If you are wandering why your prayers arent been answered it could be because of a lack of faith in your own life. Many people in Jesus day lacked faith. Mathew 17:18-20 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, Why could we not cast it out?

So Jesus said to them, Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move: and nothing will be impossible for you. Jesus tells his disciples that have seen many miracles done by him that they have unbelief. If you have ever seen a mustard seed it is very small, I think Jesus is trying to tell us most people dont even have a little faith.

If you know about mustard seeds then you know the seeds grows rapidly, and was introduced to North America by the Spanish, who (it is said) sowed it along their trails so that the seed would spring up (full height 1' - 2') and leave a golden trail of it's four lobed flowers for them to follow in their return. Once we obtain even a little faith I think it develops and matures rapidly. You can tell through scriptures that there was not allot of faith going on there by the way Jesus was impressed by the faith of a few individuals. If you think about these men when they took the man to see Jesus they couldnt get in. Many of us would stop right there the first road block in our path turns us away but these men were desperate and determined for their friend to see Jesus that day. The bible stays there was allot of places were jesus couldnt do many miracles because of the lack of peoples faith. Is your unbelief blocking things from happening in your own life. If God himself was blocked from doing miracles because of unbelief what does that tell us about why some of our own prayers arent being answered. The women who touched Jesus the bible says he Jesus felt the power go out of him. True faith activates miracles. This womens faith was so strong it not only impressed jesus put the power went out.
