Principali
- Per scrivere le lettere maiuscole non necessario schiacciare contemporaneamente Shift: possibile premere prima Shift, e poi la lettera. - Numeri senza premere SYM: ALT + [riga superiore della tastiera, con Q (1) fino a P (0)]. - Aggiornamento / refresh dello schermo: ALT + G - Catturare uno screenshot in formato GIF (sar nella cartella Documents): ALT+SHIFT+G. - Mostra ora: premere MENU: l'ora verr visualizzato nella barra di stato superiore oppure scrivi "TIME" + INVIO. - Mostra la quantit di spazio libero: MENU (lo spazio libero in alto a sinistra) - Vai al Kindle Store: ALT + HOME - Ricontrolla all'interno delle cartelle del Kindle per cercare nuovi libri, musica, foto: ALT + Z - Mostra il numero di serie e codice a barre: ALT + SHIFT +. Raccolte - Collection
- Ordina i libri per raccolta: col pad a 5 vie selezionare la riga sopra al libro pi in alto (Visualizza Tutti gli Oggetti x ...), click destro e scegliere Collections - Aggiungi / Rimuovi pi libri da/nella la raccolta: col pad a 5 vie selezionare la raccolta, fare clic col pulsante destro e poi Aggiungi / Rimuovi elementi. Nella lista di tutti i libri cliccando col pulsante di centro possibile aggiungere o rimuovere libri da collezione - Per facilitare la cernita delle raccolte all'inizio dei loro nomi possibile utilizzare lettere extra. Dal momento che lo stesso tipo della collezione sar vicino, ma non in ordine alfabetico. Esempio: # Fiction, @ Feynman, (Current_reading), (Someday_reading). Un effetto simile pu essere ottenuto a partire dal nome della raccolta con i numeri: 111Fiction, 112Non_fiction

Lettura
- Inserire/rimuovere un segnalibro: ALT + B - Per spostarsi tra i capitoli, i segnalibri, le note e i pezzi selezionati (indicati da punti sulla barra di avanzamento in basso) premere il tasto sinistro o destro sul pad a 5 vie. - Selezionare un pezzo del libro, costituito da diverse pagine: Vai alla parte superiore del pezzo da selezionare usando il pad a 5 vie, clicca sul suo centro, fare clic su Pagina successiva, premere il tasto centrale del pad a 5 vie. - Tutti i record e i pezzi selezionati sono memorizzati nella directory principale del Kindle in My Clippings.txt - Alt +0 (zero) abilitare / disabilitare avanzamento automatico (nota bene: questo funziona anche con il testo. Non vi alcun controllo per la velocit ma cambaire la dimensione del testo potrebbe aiutare in qualche modo.) - Alt +1 avviare l' avanzamento automatico (se abilitato) - Alt +2 fermare l'avanzamento automatico - Clicca per ingrandire l'immagine: posizionare il cursore sulle immagini utilizzando il pad a 5 direzioni (il cursore si trasforma in una lente di ingrandimento con segno +), premere il tasto centrale a 5 direzioni. Kindle mostra una illustrazione in modalit landscape (orizzontale). Per tornare clic su Back. - Spostare la "finestra" durante la visualizzazione di un file PDF: SHIFT + [Direzione del pad a 5 vie] - Rimozione di qualche segnalibro, nota, pezzi scelti:

Cerca
- Per copiare del testo nella stringa di ricerca (per ricerche in Internet, per esempio):

Fare clic col tasto centrale del pad a 5 vie, all'inizio del testo che si desidera copiare Premere il tasto destro del pad a 5 vie per evidenziare la parola (testo) Invece di premere il tasto centrale a 5 direzioni per evidenziare la parola, premere la barra spaziatrice le parole evidenziata (testo) sono ora nella barra di ricerca che possibile modificare Premere verso il basso e destra, scegliete un area di ricerca

- Per cancellare tutto il testo dalla stringa di ricerca: ALT + CANC - Se la stringa che si vuole cercare inizia con un simbolo (il tasto SYM attivo solo in un momento in cui la linea di ricerca aperta) per aprire la stringa di ricerca:

Sulla Home: premi CANC o ENTER sulle altre schermate: premere la barra spaziatrice ed poi cnacellare lo spazio

- Per visualizzare data e ora cercare nella barra di ricerca "DATE" o "TIME" e il primo risultato sar la data corrente. Cliccandoci sopra col tasto centrale del pad a 5 vie saranno visualite le informazioni complete su su data/ora eccetera. - Comandi speciali che possono essere inseriti in una stringa di ricerca:

@ dict [word] - la ricerca di parole nel dizionario di default @ store [word] - Ricerca su amazon.com @ author [autore] - Cerca su amazon.com libri di un determinato autore @ url - apri il browser open @ url [indirizzo] - apre l'indirizzo nel browser @ web [parola] - ricerca su Internet per parola chiave @ wiki [parola] o wikipedia @ [parola] - ricerca in wikipedia per parola chiave @ help - visualizza un elenco dei comandi disponibili

Reboot
(Al riavvio il Kindle mostra l'immagine di un ragazzo che legge sotto un albero.) - Alt+Shift+R reboot Kindle - Alt+Shift+. (punto) riavvia la GUI - Riapartenza durante la carica: sufficiente scollegare dal caricatore/PC - Soft reset (quando i tasti e lo schermo rispondono): HOME - MENU - SETTINGS - MENU RESTART - Hard reset (quando il Kindle non risponde a nulla): spostare e tenere premuto il pulsante di accensione per 30 secondi e poi aspettare un minuto o due

Musica
- I file devono essere in formato MP3 e copiato dentro la cartella "music" - Play / Stop: ALT + barra spaziatrice - Passa al file successivo: ALT + F - I file vengono riprodotti nell'ordine in cui sono stati copiati nel Kindle

- Per far si che i file audio compaiano nel menu principale (che poi per comodit, si possono spostare dentro ad una raccolta - ad esempio un intero album), copia il file nella cartella "Audible". In questo caso la musica potr essere sentita beneficiando di controlli migliori ma non potr essere sentita durante la lettura di un libro (la cartella Audible serve per contenere gli audiobook e si suppone che mentre uno sente un adiobook non legga conpemporaneamente un libro)

Foto Album
Procedura per l'aggiunta e la visualizzazione: - Collegare il Kindle al computer - Creare la cartella "pictures" nella directory principale del Kindle - All'interno della cartella Pictures, creare una o pi cartelle col nome della raccolte di immagini (per esempio, Vacanze). possibile creare pi cartelle. - Copiare le foto dentro le cartelle create (formati: JPG, GIF, PNG...). La dimensione consigliata di 800x600 - Scollegare il Kindle dal computer - Aggiornare l'elenco dalla schermata iniziale, premere ALT + Z - Le foto appariranno come una nuova voce in elenco. - Quando si visualizzano le foto il tasto MENU mostra le opzioni di visualizzazione delle foto - possibile aggiungere immagini, non solo in sottocartelle all'interno della cartella Immagini ma anche come archivio .zip o .cbz contenente immagini. Gli archivi posono essere messi anche nella cartella Documents!! L'album appare anche nella lista dei libri (anche senza fare refresh in questo caso). - Scorciatoie da tastiera durante la visualizzazione delle immagini:

- Il browser pu aprire pagine HTML salvate localmente. Per fare questo:

crea una cartella a parte (ad esempio pagine_web) nella root del Kindle. nella riga del browser scrivi: file:///mnt/us/pagine_web/miapagina.html

usare il kindle 3 come calcolatrice

nella barra di ricerca della homepage va scritta l'operazione da calcolare (senza indicare il segno = alla fine), quindi si clicca su "search my items" e il risultato appare sulla pagina, oltre alle 4 operazioni di base ( + - * /) vengono supportate: potenza: ^ radice quadrata: sqrt --> esempio sqrt(81) trigonometria: sin, cos, tan, atan ---> esempio sin(60)
