Home Improvement BDUMC

Bother Ernie The Tool Man Carmicle has been the
catalyst for some much needed and appreciated
improvements. First, he jumped in on a need thats been
discussed for years an upstairs bathroom. Working
with the Trustees, a plan was developed to convert the
old classroom adjacent to the welcome center.
Contractors provided the necessary plumbing rough-in
and electrical work and Brother Ernie along with Jason
Carmicle and Marion Taylor and a few other helpers
finished out the rest. Not only did they construct a super
nice handicapped accessible restroom, we now have a
convenient kitchen space for preparing welcome center
coffee and snacks.
The Tool Man was not done. Noticing that the steps
into the basement were steep with narrow treads, he
leapt into action again. Along with his trusty helpers,
they completely replaced the stairs with a new wide tread
at the proper spacing and height. This stairway is no
longer a fall waiting to happen. Special thanks to Tim
and Mickey Boone who donated their carpentry skills to
frame up the stairway and to Youngs Manufacturing who
donated the oak treads and risers.
But no, the intrepid tool man was still not done! We now
have nice new vinyl tile at both the front and rear church
doors - a bright and inviting replacement of the dark
brown tiles that have been there for years.
Whats next for the Tool Man? Well have to see, but we
all owe Brother Ernie, Marion, and Jason a big thanks for
their hard work, the vision to see whats needed, and the
enthusiasm to get it done.

NOTES from Bro. Ernie

This year Easter time will be
particularly beautiful with the trees
and grass a lovely shade of Spring
green, flowers blooming everywhere
and the iconic robin busily preparing
its nest for the coming of New Life.
Nature seems to be shouting to us
that something wonderful is about to
happen. Jesus said to the Pharisees
when they demanded that the
people cease praising Him, that the
very rocks (nature) itself would lift
up its voice and give the praise He
deserved. With all this beauty
surrounding us this time of year
there is an even greater beauty in
what God has done for us through
his son, Jesus Christ. Imagine the
utter darkness that permeated our
very souls before He came and gave
Himself for our sins and the sudden
burst of glorious light that came
with the shout that He Is Alive, For
He Has Risen. There is no greater
beauty than the soul of mankind
being reconciled to its creator
through the sacrifice of the one
who became sin for us that we
might become the righteousness of
God. Yes, beauty is all around us;
both in the coming spring and
Resurrection of our Lord and Savior.
Enjoy!

EXPERIENCE A DIFFERENT WAY TO WORSHIP!

If you havent seen the sanctuary adorned with a drum

th
set and electric guitars, come on out on the 4 Sunday
at 6 PM. The service is led by our own praise &
worship band Combustible Dust. Our praise and
worship service is a time to praise God with music and
songs and includes a short devotional. It is informal
and relaxed - come as you are there is no dress
code. As a matter of fact, sandal and shorts weather
is close by, so come in your shorts and sandals! The
goal is to praise God in an upbeat and joyful way.
Bring your kids and your friends, too.

LENT
Lent is a time of repentance, soul searching, and
taking stock as we prepare for Easter. Historically,
Lent was a time when the faithful rededicated
themselves and new converts were prepared for
baptism. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and is the
40 days before Easter not counting Sundays.
Sundays are the day of resurrection and are little
Easters.
The last week of Lent the week before Easter- is
called Holy Week. Holy Week began in the ancient
church when pilgrims traveled to Jerusalem to reenact the last week of Jesus life. It begins with Palm
Sunday and includes Maundy Thursday and Good
Friday and ends on Holy Saturday; the day before
Easter.

SUNDAY SCHOOL - Its not just for kids!

Please come join us for Sunday School at 9:30 a.m.
on Sunday Mornings. Most importantly, if you have
children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or neighbors
who arent attending Sunday School, bring them we
have plenty of room.
The Lightseekers class has just begun a new study by
James Moore entitled Faith Is The Answer, But What
Are The Questions? Join them as they explore our
faith and have some fun along the way.

CHOIR
Havent you always wanted to sing in the Choir? Join
them Wednesdays at 6 PM.
No experience
necessary. Come make a joyful noise.
