To: 2012 Tournament Teams

The Tournament Directors of the 2012 Battle @ the Border Basketball Tournament would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teams and parents who participated in making the annual Battle at the Border Basketball Tournament a great success. In all, over 193 teams participated in the tournament. Over 20,000 young people, parents, grandparents and community members came through the tournament doors and were able to view talented athletes play competitive basketball. Our tournament showcased teams from throughout the Texas region, as well as teams from Arizona, New Mexico, and throughout Mexico. We are grateful to the many teams that travelled hundreds of miles to attend the tournament. We would like to extend a special thanks to Zacatecas (Colegio De Bachilleres Coyotas Cobaez) who traveled 756 miles to participate in our tournament as well. A special thank you to Telemundo our Title Sponsor of this tournament. The exposure your network provided for this tournament made a great impact, and was a big part of our success. The Hilton Garden Inn for their hospitality and professionalism in offering our out of town teams a wonderful place to lodge. Your staff demonstrated the utmost professionalism and organization. One of the highlights of this year's tournament was the Dream Arena. The Dream Arena was the site for many of our younger divisions of boys/girls basketball. We would like to thank Mr. Cervantes and his staff for graciously allowing our Tournament to be the first organization to bring a tournament of this magnitude to his venue. Throughout the tournament, parents, coaches and players shared their excitement about how this venue was a great atmosphere for families to come out and support their teams. Thank you to the Dream Arena staff and security for their dedication and support of the Battle @ the Border Basketball Tournament.

The tournament directors would also like to thank Mike Sanchez and the officials from the EL Paso Basketball Officials Association for their professionalism and dedication to ensuring our tournament was well organized. Mr. Sanchez's ensured all games had referees, as well as ensured all games started on time. The referees worked very hard throughout the tournament and moved the games along smoothly. Over 300 games were supervised by some very talented men and women. Once again, thank you for your hard work! We would like to also thank the West Coast Hoops Report, Hoops Report.com and Area Codes Basketball rating systems for attending the Battle at the Border Tournament and allowing us to showcase the talented athletes in the city of El Paso. Your presence at the tournament inspired many of our athletes to continue working hard and to persevere towards a future in basketball. Again, thank you for your time! Finally we would like to thank the YISD, Faith Christian Academy and Harmony Academy of Science and all the security officers and custodians, countless volunteers, scorekeepers, ticket takers, and gym managers. Your hard work, dedication, professionalism and willingness to give to the community is greatly appreciated. We look forward to working with many of you again next year. As we close out another year, we have already began to plan for next year, we are excited to bring bigger and even better things to our tournament. Each year, our tournament sees an increase in the number of teams participating, next year we are expecting one our biggest years yet. We look forward to your return to our tournament next year, until then, good luck to all teams for a successful 2012 summer of basketball.
