Identify the standard you have chosen. 4.1.1 Read, view, and listen for pleasure and personal growth. 4.1.2 Read widely and fluently to make connections with self, the world, and previous reading. 2. Analyze the target audience for your presentation. Audience The target audience for this presentation will include first grade students in the Special Education program at Bleckley County Primary School. There are students in this class who range in age from 6 years old to 8years. These students are from various cultural backgrounds and include Caucasian, African American and Latino students. Most of these students are from low income families. The educational level of these students is very low due to their disabilities. These students are not in the severe and profound special education classes, but their abilities place them in the lowest 2 groups in the grade. The majority of these students learn by using hands-on manipulatives. Specific Entry Skills Students need to understand what reading materials/topics interest them. In addition, students need to understand what it means to read fluently and how fluency will establish personal growth. Attention- Attention will be gained when students see their peers having fun while reading. Overall student interest of a novel will be the factor for appealing to the students. Relevance- Relevance is shown by having young students find pleasure in reading with fluency. Students will see other children being successful while reading. Confidence- Confidence is gained when students are able to read fluently for pleasure and personal growth. Students will overcome challenges presented and feel successful. Satisfaction-Satisfaction is found with each student individually when he/she is able to select a book, read fluently, and achieve personal growth. Students will be able to have similar success to students in the regular education classroom. 3. Write the objectives for your presentation.
