The bonding of both works of art suggests the philosophy of mind as evoked by the symbolism and physiology of the head in the context of the depiction of a self contained universe within the circular form of Children of the Full Moon 2 . This circular structure itself calls up a range of ideas. These extend from the wholeness represented by the self contained harmony of cranium and the mental space it enables, to the synthesis of various aspects of the self, to the unity of self and cosmos, and to the transcendent circularity of eternity, itself grounded in the terrestrial reality of space and time through its realization in the abstract form of mind and the enabling of mind through the internal matter of brain, itself encased in the bone and flesh of the head.
The initiate is led through a series of rooms, each containing ever more recondite representations of the Godhead, till in the last room, he encounters only an empty space, and his guide whispers in his ear There is no God. Dion Fortune
