About This Chapter

APM30 Installation Guide

This describes the procedures and methods for installing the APM30. 4.1 Preparing for APM30 Installation Before installing the APM30, you must perform unpacking inspection and keep the tools and instruments ready. 4.2 Installing the APM30 The equipment to be installed include the extended battery cabinet, APM30 cabinet, Power Monitoring Unit (PMU), Power Supply Unit (PSU), user equipment, cables, and batteries. The extended battery cabinet and user equipment are optional and can be installed for specific needs. 4.3 Installing the Extended Battery Cabinet The extended battery cabinet of the APM30 can be installed on the concrete floor. 4.4 Installing the APM30 Cabinet The APM30 cabinet can be installed on the concrete floor, on an overhead platform, on a metal pole, or on a wall, depending on field conditions. 4.5 Installing the Power Monitoring Unit The Power Monitoring Unit (PMU) provides power system management, battery management, and environment monitoring for the APM30. 4.6 Installing the Power Supply Unit The power supply subrack of the APM30 is installed with three Power Supply Units (PSUs) for rectification. 4.7 Installing the User Equipment The APM30 provides space for the user equipment. APM30 installers can determine an appropriate position for the user equipment to meet actual needs. 4.8 Installing the Heater and Related Cables The heater can be installed in the APM30 cabinet or the extended battery cabinet. It applies to low-temperature environment. 4.9 Installing the Cables of the APM30 The cables to be installed on site include the AC input power cables, DC output power cables, PGND cables, and communication cables.

4.10 Installing the Batteries of the APM30 Different batteries are used for the APM30 in different scenarios. The batteries can be installed in the APM30 cabinet without an extended battery cabinet. If the APM30 has an extended battery cabinet, the batteries are installed in the extended battery cabinet. 4.11 Sealing the Cable Holes The cable holes need to be sealed with fireproof clay after the installation of the APM30 cables. 4.12 Checking the Installation of the APM30 After the APM30 is installed, you must check the cabinet installation, electrical connections, power-on status, and field cleanliness.

4.1 Preparing for APM30 Installation


Before installing the APM30, you must perform unpacking inspection and keep the tools and instruments ready.

Unpacking Inspection
The APM30 can be unpacked only after the equipment is delivered to the installation site. The unpacking inspection must be performed by the representative of the customer and the personnel authorized by Huawei. To perform unpacking inspection, unpack the APM30, take out the Packing list, and then check the customer's name and address, machine number, total number of products, case number, and contract number according to the Packing list.

If the product type and quantity comply with the packing list, sign the Packing list with the customer. If there is any missing or wrong shipment, fill in the Cargo Problem Report and provide feedback for the order management engineer in the local Huawei office within three days.

Tools and Instruments


Table 4-1 lists the tools and instruments for the APM30 installation. 4.2 Installing the APM30


The equipment to be installed include the extended battery cabinet, APM30 cabinet, Power Monitoring Unit (PMU), Power Supply Unit (PSU), user equipment, cables, and batteries. The extended battery cabinet and user equipment are optional and can be installed for specific needs.

Procedure
Step 1 Install the APM30 cabinet. For details, refer to 4.4 Installing the APM30 Cabinet. Step 2 Install the PMU and PSU. For details, refer to 4.5 Installing the Power Monitoring Unit and 4.6 Installing the Power Supply Unit. Step 3 Install the user equipment. For details, refer to 4.7 Installing the User Equipment. Step 4 Install the cables. For details, refer to 4.9 Installing the Cables of the APM30.

Step 5 Install the DC power cable of the BTS3006C/BTS3002E. For details, refer to 4.9.5 Installing the DC Power Cable of the BTS3006C/BTS3002E. Step 6 Check the installation of the APM30. For details, refer to 4.12 Checking the Installation of the APM30. ----End

4.3 Installing the Extended Battery Cabinet


The extended battery cabinet of the APM30 can be installed on the concrete floor.

Context
The extended battery cabinet can be installed directly on the concrete floor or fixed on the base of the APM30. In the following example, the extended battery cabinet is installed on the concrete floor. To install the extended battery cabinet on the base, which is the same as to install the APM30 cabinet on the base, refer to 4.4.2 Installing the APM30 Cabinet on the Concrete Floor.

When the extended battery cabinet is installed on the concrete floor, the cables must be led through the side cable holes at the lower part of the cabinet. When the extended battery cabinet is fixed on the base, the cables must be led through the cable holes at the bottom of the cabinet.

Procedure
Step 1 According to the space requirements, determine the position for installing the extended battery cabinet on the concrete floor. Step 2 Mark the four anchor points according to the spacing between holes, as shown in Figure 4-3. Figure 4-3 Determining the anchor points (unit: mm)

Step 3 Use a percussion drill with a 16 drill bit to make holes at the marked positions.

CAUTION

When drilling holes, ensure that the drill bit is vertical to the floor. Ensure that the depth of the holes ranges from 52 mm to 60 mm.

Step 4 Use a cleaner to clear the dust inside and around the holes. Step 5 Measure the spacing between the holes. If the spacing has an error, relocate and drill another hole before installing the expansion bolt assembly. Step 6 Align the expansion bolt assemblies with the holes, and then use a claw hammer to hit each assembly until the expansion tube is completely buried into the hole, as shown in Figure 4-4.

CAUTION
When installing the expansion bolt assembly, ensure that the guiding rib of the nut are in full contact with the guiding slot of the tube. Step 7 Remove the bolt M12 x 60, spring washer 12, and flat washer 12, as shown in Figure 4-5. Figure 4-5 Disassembling the expansion bolt assembly

CAUTION
After disassembling the expansion bolt assembly, ensure that the top of the expansion tube is on the same level as the ground. Step 8 Repeat Step 6 and Step 7 until all bolts are inserted into the expansion tubes. Step 9 Place the extended battery cabinet on the concrete floor and align the holes at the bottom of the cabinet with the bolt holes in the floor. Step 10 Install the spring washers and flat washers on the four bolts M12 x 60. Then lead the bolts into the expansion tubes through the holes in the floor, as shown in Figure 4-6. Step 11 Use a wrench to fasten the cabinet onto the ground by tightening the bolts clockwise. ----End

4.4 Installing the APM30 Cabinet


The APM30 cabinet can be installed on the concrete floor, on an overhead platform, on a metal pole, or on a wall, depending on field conditions. 4.4.2 Installing the APM30 Cabinet on the Concrete Floor This describes how to install the APM30 cabinet on the concrete floor. 4.4.3 Install the APM30 Cabinet on an Overhead Platform This describes how to install the APM30 cabinet on an overhead platform. 4.4.4 Installing the APM30 Cabinet on a Metal Pole This describes how to install the APM30 cabinet on a metal pole. 4.4.5 Installing the APM30 Cabinet on a Wall This describes how to install the APM30 cabinet on a wall. 4.4.6 Installing the APM30 Cabinet on the Extended Battery Cabinet The extended battery cabinet and the APM30 cabinet can be installed separately or installed together. Installing the APM30 cabinet on the extended battery cabinet can save space.

4.4.1 Installing the Base


When installing the APM30 cabinet on the concrete floor or on the overhead platform, you must install the base and then fix the APM30 cabinet on the base.

Procedure
Step 1 Determine the position for the base according to Space Requirements of the APM30.

Step 2 Place the base in position and use a marking pen to mark four anchor points. You can also mark the four anchor points according to the spacing between holes, as shown in Figure 4-8. Figure 4-8 Determining the anchor points (unit: mm)

Step 3 Use a percussion drill with a 16 drill bit to make holes at the marked points.

CAUTION

Take measures when drilling holes lest the flying dust hurt your eyes or you inhale the dust. The expansion tube must be fully buried into the floor to ensure that the cabinet can stand steady on the floor. The depth of the hole must range from 52 mm to 60 mm. The depth of the hole must be the length of the expansion tube plus the length of the drill bit. If the depth is out of the range, the expansion bolt cannot be fastened. If the floor is too hard or too smooth to hold the drill bit, use a chisel to dig a pit.

Step 4 Use a cleaner to clear the dust inside and around the holes. Step 5 Measure the spacing between the holes. If the spacing is too long or too short, relocate and drill holes. Step 6 Insert the guiding rib of the nut into the guiding slot of the expansion tube. Step 7 Align the expansion bolt assemblies with the holes, and then use a claw hammer to hit each assembly until the expansion tube is completely buried into the hole, as shown in Figure 4-9.

Step 8 Remove the bolt M12 x 60, spring washer 12, and flat washer 12, as shown in Figure 4-10. Figure 4-10 Disassembling the expansion bolt assembly

CAUTION
After disassembling the expansion bolt assembly, ensure that the top of the expansion tube is on the same level as the floor. Step 9 Repeat Step 7 through Step 8 until all bolts are inserted into the expansion tubes. Step 11 Install the spring washers and flat washers on the four bolts M12 x 60. Then lead the bolts into the expansion tubes through the holes in the floor, as shown in Figure 4-11. Figure 4-11 Fixing the base

Step 12 Turn the bolts clockwise using a wrench to fix the base on the floor. ----End

4.4.2 Installing the APM30 Cabinet on the Concrete Floor


This describes how to install the APM30 cabinet on the concrete floor.

Context

CAUTION
The APM30 in full configuration is 130 kg. The concrete floor must be able to bear the weight of a full APM30 cabinet.

Procedure
Step 1 According to the Space Requirements of the APM30, determine the position for installing the cabinet on the concrete floor. Step 2 Check the installation of the APM30. For details, refer to 4.4.1 Installing the Base. Step 3 Lift the APM30 cabinet onto the base. Step 4 Open the cabinet door. Step 5 Adjust the position of the cabinet to align the holes at the bottom of the cabinet with the holes of the base. Step 6 Lead each bolt M12 x 25 through the spring washer 12 and flat washer 12 in turn. Insert the bolt assemblies into the holes at the bottom of the cabinet, and then tighten the four bolts diagonally, as shown in Figure 4-12. Figure 4-12 Fixing the APM30 cabinet

Step 7 Remove the lifting eyes and keep them for future use. Fill the sealing clay delivered with the APM30 in the holes. ----End

4.4.3 Install the APM30 Cabinet on an Overhead Platform


This describes how to install the APM30 cabinet on an overhead platform.

Context

CAUTION
The APM30 in full configuration is 130 kg. The platform must be able to bear the weight of a full APM30 cabinet.

Procedure
Step 1 According to the Space Requirements of the APM30, determine the position for installing the cabinet on the overhead platform. Step 2 Install the base on the overhead platform. Step 3 Lift the APM30 cabinet onto the base. Step 4 Open the cabinet door. Step 5 Adjust the position of the cabinet to align the holes at the bottom of the cabinet with the holes of the base. Step 6 Lead each bolt M12 x 25 through the spring washer 12 and flat washer 12 in turn. Insert the bolt assemblies into the holes at the bottom of the cabinet, and then tighten the four bolts diagonally, as shown in Figure 4-13.

4.4.4 Installing the APM30 Cabinet on a Metal Pole


This describes how to install the APM30 cabinet on a metal pole.

Context

CAUTION
The APM30 in full configuration is 130 kg. The metal pole must be able to bear the weight of a full APM30 cabinet.

Procedure
Step 1 Use bolts M10 x 180 and nuts to install the two fixture assemblies on the metal pole, as shown in Figure 4-14.

Step 2 Fasten the bolts and nuts, as shown in Figure 4-15.


NOTE

Because it is very difficult to keep the two fixture assemblies on the same plane, Huawei recommends that you should not fasten the lower fixture assembly until the cabinet is properly positioned.

Step 4 Install the screws assembled with spring washers and flat washers on the fixture assemblies and fasten the screws for six to seven pitches, as shown in Figure 4-17. Figure 4-17 Installing the screws on the fixture assemblies

Step 5 Lead the screws through the mounting ears, put on the spring washers and flat washers, and then install them on the fixture assemblies. Fasten the screws in turn, as shown in Figure 4-18.

Step 6 Use a wrench to tighten the bolts clockwise. Step 7 Loosen the screws on the anchor bolt blocking plate, turn the anchor bolt hole blocking plate by 180, and then tighten the screws to block the anchor bolt holes, as shown in Figure 4-19 and Figure 4-20. Figure 4-19 Anchor bolt hole

4.4.5 Installing the APM30 Cabinet on a Wall


This describes how to install the APM30 cabinet on a wall.

Context
The APM30 in full configuration is 130 kg. The wall must be able to bear the weight of a full APM30 cabinet.

Procedure
Step 1 According to the Space Requirements of the APM30, determine the position for installing the cabinet on the wall. Step 2 Place the mounting bracket against the wall. Then mark four anchor points using a marking pen. You can also mark the four anchor points according to the spacing between holes, as shown in Figure 4-21.

Step 3 Use the percussion drill with a 12 bit to make holes at the marked points. Use a cleaner to clear the dust both inside and around the holes. If the inter-hole spacing is too long or too short, locate and drill holes again.

Step 4 Mount the flat washer, spring washer, and nut on the expansion bolt M10 x 60, slightly fasten them, and then put the expansion bolt into the hole. Hit the expansion bolt using a rubber hammer until the expansion tube is completely buried into the hole, as shown in Figure 4-22.

Step 5 Remove the nut, spring washer, and flat washer in turn.

CAUTION
After disassembling the expansion bolt assembly, ensure that the top of the expansion tube is at the same level as the wall. Step 6 Use screws M8 x 16 to install four mounting ears on the back of the APM30 cabinet, as shown in Figure 4-23.

Step 7 Align the mounting ears with the four holes and insert them into the holes. Then, put the flat washer, spring washer, and nut on the expansion bolt in turn and fasten the nut, as shown in Figure 4-24.

Step 8 Turn the bolts clockwise using a wrench to secure the APM30 cabinet to the wall. Step 9 Loosen the screws on the anchor bolt blocking plate, turn the anchor bolt hole blocking plate by 180, and then tighten the screws to block the anchor bolt holes, as shown in Figure 4-25 and Figure 4-26.

4.4.6 Installing the APM30 Cabinet on the Extended Battery Cabinet


The extended battery cabinet and the APM30 cabinet can be installed separately or installed together. Installing the APM30 cabinet on the extended battery cabinet can save space.

Space Requirements
Figure 4-27 shows the space requirements for installing the APM30 cabinet on the extended battery cabinet.

Procedure
Step 1 Determine the position for installing the extended battery cabinet on the concrete floor by referring to Figure 4-27. Step 2 4.3 Installing the Extended Battery Cabinet on the concrete floor and apply fireproof clay around the cable outlet at the top of the cabinet. Step 3 Lift the APM30 cabinet onto the extended battery cabinet. Align the cable inlet at the bottom of the APM30 cabinet with the cable outlet at the top of the extended battery cabinet. Place the APM30 cabinet on the extended battery cabinet, as shown in Figure 4-29.

4.5 Installing the Power Monitoring Unit


The Power Monitoring Unit (PMU) provides power system management, battery management, and environment monitoring for the APM30.

Context

CAUTION
Take proper ESD protection measures, for example, wear an ESD wrist strap or a pair of ESD gloves, to prevent electrostatic damage to the PMU. The PMU of the APM30 is of two types. The front panels of the two types of PMU are shown in Figure 4-30 and Figure 4-32 respectively.

NOTE

For the second type of PMU, the DIP switch is at the rear of the PMU.

Procedure
Step 1 Determine the position for installing the PMU. Figure 4-33 shows the position of the PMU. Figure 4-33 Position of the PMU

Step 2 Set the DIP switch according to different applications of the APM30. Table 4-2 shows the setting of the DIP switch on the PMU of the APM30. Figure 4-31 shows the DIP switch on the PMU.

4.6 Installing the Power Supply Unit


The power supply subrack of the APM30 is installed with three Power Supply Units (PSUs) for rectification.

Context

CAUTION
Take proper ESD protection measures, for example, wear an ESD wrist strap or a pair of ESD gloves, to prevent electrostatic damage to the PMU.

Procedure
Step 1 Determine the position for installing the PSU. Figure 4-36 shows the position of the PSU. Figure 4-36 Position of the PSU

Step 2 Place the PSU in the slot, loosen the screws on the handle of the PSU panel using a straight screwdriver, as shown in Figure 4-37.

4.7 Installing the User Equipment


The APM30 provides space for the user equipment. APM30 installers can determine an appropriate position for the user equipment to meet actual needs.

Context
The user equipment that can be installed in the APM30 cabinet includes the BBU3806 and transmission equipment. They are installed in the same way. The following task takes the BBU3806 as an example.

Procedure
Step 1 Determine the position for installing the BBU3806 in the APM30, as shown in Figure 4-39.

NOTE

A space of 1 U under the power distribution box (position 1 shown in Figure 4-39) is unfurnished by default. The BBU3806 is usually installed in position 2 or 3, as shown in Figure 4-39.

Step 2 Loosen and remove the panel screws M6 x 12 from the mounting bar, and then remove the filler panel. Step 3 Check whether there are floating nuts on the square holes of the mounting bar where screws of the BBU3806 panel may be installed. If there is no floating nut, install floating nuts on the screw holes, as shown in Figure 4-40.

NOTE

To install the floating nuts, do as follows: 1. Attach the lower part of the floating nut to the square hole. 2. Use a straight screwdriver to press the upper part into the square hole. 3. Release the screwdriver to make the upper part automatically hook to the square hole. Then, the floating nut can be firmly fixed on the mounting bar.

Step 4 Slide the BBU3806 gently along the guide rails into the cabinet and fasten the screws M6 x 12 on the panel, as shown in Figure 4-41.

4.8 Installing the Heater and Related Cables


The heater can be installed in the APM30 cabinet or the extended battery cabinet. It applies to low-temperature environment.

Context
l

A heater keeps the cabinet temperature higher than 10. When the internal temperature of the cabinet is lower than 5, the heater starts to work; when the internal temperature is higher than 15, the heater stops working. The maximum power consumption of a 220 V heater is 300 W.

Procedure
Step 1 Install a heater in the APM30 cabinet. 1. Place the heater in position and gently push the heater along the heater tray until the holes of the mounting ears are aligned with the holes in the support. Then, fasten the screws delivered with the cabinet, as shown in Figure 4-42.

Remove the nuts and flat washers from the screws of the voltage converter, align the groove of the voltage converter with the screws, and then put on the flat washers and nuts, as shown in Figure 4-44.

Connect the OT terminals of the blue wire and brown wires to AC OUTPUT wiring terminals N2 and L2, as shown in Figure 4-44. Connect the self-contained red and black power cables of the heater to the L and N wiring terminals on the voltage converter, and then bind the cables properly, as shown in Figure 4-45.

Step 2 Install a heater in the extended battery cabinet.


NOTE

The voltage converter must be installed before the heater in order not to affect equipment installation.

4.9 Installing the Cables of the APM30

4.9.2 Installing the AC Input Power Cable of the APM30 The APM30 obtains AC input power through the AC input power cable. 4.9.3 Installing the Power Cable of the BBU3806 When the APM30 is installed with only one BBU3806, the 48 V DC power cable (with signal wires) is used for the BBU3806. When the APM30 is installed with two BBU3806s, the 48 V DC power cable (with signal wires) is used for the active BBU3806 and the 48 V DC power cable (without signal wires) is used for the standby BBU3806. 4.9.4 Installing the DC Power Cable of the RRU The DC power cable of the RRU is a shielded cable. 4.9.5 Installing the DC Power Cable of the BTS3006C/BTS3002E The BTS3006C/BTS3002E obtains power from the APM30 and so you must use a DC power cable to connect the APM30 and the BTS3006C/BTS3002E. 4.9.6 Installing the Internal Communication Cables of the APM30 For the APM30, the internal communication cables to be installed on site include the RS485 communication cable and the PMU monitoring cable. 4.9.7 Installing the E1/T1 Cable of the BBU3806 The E1/T1 cable transmits baseband signals between the BBU3806 and the RNC. 4.9.8 Installing the CPRI Optical Cable Between the BBU3806 and the RRU3801C The CPRI optical cable connects the BBU3806 to the RRU3801C and transmits CPRI signals between them. 4.9.9 Installing the Alarm Cable Between the APM30 and the BTS3006C/BTS3002E This describes how to install the alarm cable between the APM30 and the BTS3006C/ BTS3002E.

4.9.1 Installing the Grounding Cables of the APM30


A grounding busbar is available inside the cabinet. The grounding bus of the cabinet, the grounding cable of the surge protector, and the grounding cable of the user equipment are connected to the grounding busbar.

Grounding Instructions
l

Three lightning protection grounding terminals are available on each column in the front of the cabinet. The user equipment can be grounded nearby. For the detailed grounding method, refer to the installation guide of the user equipment. The PGND cables of the door, DC power distribution subrack, AC surge protector, and DC surge protector are connected before the delivery of the equipment. You need not connect these PGND cables on site.

Procedure
Step 1 Determine the position of the grounding busbar in the APM30 cabinet, as shown in Figure 4-49.

Step 4 Route the grounding bus through the cable hole at the cabinet bottom, lead it into the cabinet through the cable hole for AC power cables, and then fix the OT terminal of the grounding bus to the grounding busbar. Fasten the nuts on the grounding busbar. Step 5 Connect the other end of the grounding bus to the outdoor grounding bar nearby. ----End

4.9.2 Installing the AC Input Power Cable of the APM30


The APM30 obtains AC input power through the AC input power cable.

Context
When the 110 V AC dual-live-wire input is used, the L1 wire connects to AC terminal L and the L2 wire connects AC terminal N. When the 220 V AC single-phase three-wire input is used, the L wire connects to AC terminal L, the N wire connects AC terminal N, and the PE wire connects to the grounding terminal. This task takes the 220 V AC to 240 V AC single-phase three-wire input as an example. Figure 4-52 shows the AC wiring terminals on the power distribution unit. Figure 4-52 AC wiring terminals

Wiring terminals L and N are AC input terminals. Wiring terminals L1 and N1 are AC output terminals, which are connected to the power subrack. Wiring terminals L2 and N2 are AC output terminals, which are reserved for the heater.

Procedure
Step 1 Loosen the nut and remove the transparent protecting hood from the AC input terminal. Step 2 Strip off the power cable jacket in proper length at one end to expose the L, N, and PE wires. Step 3 Make the L, N, and PE wires into OT terminals. Step 4 Lead the AC power cable into the APM30 cabinet through the cable hole, as shown in Figure 4-53. Step 5 Connect the OT terminals of the L and N wires to AC input terminals L and N on the power distribution unit. Connect the OT terminal of the PE wire to the grounding terminal and then tighten the nut. Step 6 Secure the nut and the protecting hood. Step 7 Bind the AC power cables neatly with cable ties.

The AC power cables are shielded cables. An AC power cable inside the cabinet is shorter than 100 mm. If the AC power cable is longer than 100 mm, it should be routed separate from other cables in an independent cavity. The AC power cables and the DC power cables should be routed separately. The power cables and the signal cables should be routed separately except when they are required for lightning protection and decoupling.

4.9.3 Installing the Power Cable of the BBU3806


When the APM30 is installed with only one BBU3806, the 48 V DC power cable (with signal wires) is used for the BBU3806. When the APM30 is installed with two BBU3806s, the 48 V DC power cable (with signal wires) is used for the active BBU3806 and the 48 V DC power cable (without signal wires) is used for the standby BBU3806.

Procedure
Step 1 Loosen the screws and remove the protecting hood of the DC wiring terminal. Step 2 Remove the two green connectors from the left of the DFFU/APMI panel and connect the four signal wires to the connectors. The sequence of connecting the signal wires is shown in Figure 4-56. CAUTION The signal wires must be connected to the ports labeled TX and RX

Step 4 Link the 7W2 female connector of the power cable to the PWR/RS485 port on the panel of the BBU3806 and fasten the screws. Step 5 Connect the blue wire and black wire of the power cable to one pair of DC output wiring terminals LOAD2 on the PDU. The blue wire connects to wiring terminal NEG(-) and the black wire connects to wiring terminal RTN(+), Step 6 Plug the connector with signal wires into the panel of the DFFU/APMI.
NOTE

The signal wires are connected in the order of orange, white, blue, and white from left to right.

4.9.4 Installing the DC Power Cable of the RRU


The DC power cable of the RRU is a shielded cable.

Context

CAUTION
If a DC power cable leads external power input to the RRU, the cable must be shielded. If the DC power cable is not shielded, the equipment is prone to lightning stroke.

Procedure
Step 1 Loosen the screws and remove the protecting hood of the DC wiring terminal. Step 2 Strip off the power cable jacket and shielding layer about 100 mm. Step 3 Make the blue wire and black wire of the power cable into OT terminals. Step 4 Lead the power cable into the cabinet through the bottom hole for the DC power cable, and connect the cable to one pair of wiring terminals LOAD1 for DC output on the power distribution box. The blue wire connects to wiring terminal NEG(-) and the black wire connects to wiring terminal RTN(+), as shown in Figure 4-59. Figure 4-59 Connecting the power cable of the RRU

Step 5 Strip off the power cable jacket about 20 mm to 30 mm from the part near the hole to expose the shielding layer, as shown in Figure 4-60.

Be cautious when you use the conductive cloth. The conductive cloth tears easily. If the conductive cloth is torn, loosen the captive screws around the cable hole and use a piece of new cloth.

4.9.5 Installing the DC Power Cable of the BTS3006C/BTS3002E


The BTS3006C/BTS3002E obtains power from the APM30 and so you must use a DC power cable to connect the APM30 and the BTS3006C/BTS3002E.

Procedure
Step 1 Loosen the screws and remove the protecting hood of the DC wiring terminal. Step 2 Strip off the power cable jacket about 100 mm. Step 3 Make the blue wire and black wire of the power cable into OT terminals. Step 4 Prepare a corrugated pipe in proper length and lead the power cable through the corrugated pipe to wrap the part outside the APM30 cabinet with the pipe. Step 5 Lead the power cable into the cabinet through the bottom hole for the DC power cable, and connect the cable to one pair of wiring terminals LOAD1 for DC output on the power distribution unit. Step 6 Connect the other end of the DC power cable to the corresponding wiring terminal on the BTS3006C/BTS3002E. Step 7 Bind the cable with cable ties. ----End

4.9.6 Installing the Internal Communication Cables of the APM30


For the APM30, the internal communication cables to be installed on site include the RS485 communication cable and the PMU monitoring cable.

4.9.7 Installing the E1/T1 Cable of the BBU3806


The E1/T1 cable transmits baseband signals between the BBU3806 and the RNC.

Procedure
Step 1 Lead the E1/T1 cable into the APM30 cabinet through the cable hole for the signal cable at the cabinet bottom. Step 2 Link the DB44 male connector of the E1/T1 cable to the E1/T1 port on the panel of the BBU3806 and fasten the screws on the connector, as shown in Figure 4-65. Step 3 Strip off the cable jacket about 20 mm to 30 mm from the part near the cable hole. Expose the shielding layer and apply fireproof clay to the cable hole. Then, bind the conductive cloth and shielding layer with cable ties to ground the shielding layer, as shown in Figure 4-66.

4.9.8 Installing the CPRI Optical Cable Between the BBU3806 and the RRU3801C
The CPRI optical cable connects the BBU3806 to the RRU3801C and transmits CPRI signals between them.

Precautions
l

The bending radius of the CPRI optical cable should be no less than 20 times the diameter of the cable. Do not bend the optical cable and the fiber tails too much. Take proper ESD protection measures, for example, wear an ESD wrist strap or a pair of ESD gloves, to prevent electrostatic damage to the board, module, or electronic parts.

Procedure
Step 1 Insert the optical module into the CPRI0, CPRI1 or CPRI2 port on the BBU3806, as shown in Figure 4-67.

4.10 Installing the Batteries of the APM30


Different batteries are used for the APM30 in different scenarios. The batteries can be installed in the APM30 cabinet without an extended battery cabinet. If the APM30 has an extended battery cabinet, the batteries are installed in the extended battery cabinet. 4.10.1 Installing the Batteries of the APM30 The APM30 obtains backup power from batteries. 4.10.2 Installing the Batteries of the Extended Battery Cabinet The extended battery cabinet can be configured with a group of 48 V 50 AH or 48 V 200 AH batteries to supply backup power to distributed base stations and mini base stations for a relatively long period of time.

4.10.1 Installing the Batteries of the APM30


The APM30 obtains backup power from batteries.

Before installation, set the MCB labeled Bat under the rectifier to OFF in case of high current. During the installation, the positive and negative poles of batteries should not be shortcircuited. Tools like wrenches and screwdrivers must be insulated. Otherwise, a burnt battery may cause human injuries.

Precautions
l

The power cables of batteries are black and red cables, among which the 48 V power cable is black and the RTN(+) power cable is red. The batteries are very heavy and so you must hold them with both hands. You must carry and place the batteries gently to avoid damage to the batteries. The installation tools must be insulated. The plastic housing of the batteries and the electrode wiring terminals must be kept intact during the installation. The inter-spacing of batteries must be kept longer than 10 mm.

When the 48 V 12 AH or 48 V 24 AH batteries are available, they are installed in a space of 3 U in the APM30 cabinet. When the 48 V 36 AH built-in batteries are available, they need to use the space of 3 U reserved for the user equipment.

Step 2 Place the four 12 V 12 AH batteries in the front of the battery cabin. Step 3 Use cables to connect the batteries in series, as shown in Figure 4-72. Figure 4-72 Connecting the batteries in series

NOTE

The two ends of the cables are female connectors. The positive and negative poles of the batteries are male connectors. When connecting the batteries in series, link the female connectors of the cables to the male connectors on the batteries.

CAUTION
The positive and negative poles of the batteries cannot be short-circuited.

Step 4 Connect the power cables to the positive and negative poles of the batteries and wrap the OT terminals of power cables with insulation tapes. One end of the power cable is a female connector that connects to one of the poles on the battery, whereas the other end is an OT terminal that connects to the battery busbar. Step 5 Push the battery gently into the rear of the battery cabin and install another battery. Step 6 Loosen the screws and remove the protecting hood from the battery busbar, as shown in Figure 4-73. Figure 4-73 Removing the protecting hood from the battery busbar

Step 7 Use a 48 V power cable to connect the negative battery busbar to wiring terminal BAT(-) on the power subrack, and use an RTN(+) power cable to connect the positive battery busbar to wiring terminal RTN(+) on the power subrack. Step 8 Remove the insulation tapes from the OT terminals of the power cables at both positive and negative poles of the batteries, as described in Step 4, and connect the OT terminals to the battery busbar. Lead the 48 V power cable of the battery busbar from the left side of the protecting hood, lead the RTN (+) power cable from the right side, and then route the two power cables along the right side of the cabinet to the power subrack.

Step 9 Reinstall the protecting hood of the battery busbar. Step 10 Bind the DC power cables neatly with cable ties. ----End

4.10.2 Installing the Batteries of the Extended Battery Cabinet


The extended battery cabinet can be configured with a group of 48 V 50 AH or 48 V 200 AH batteries to supply backup power to distributed base stations and mini base stations for a relatively long period of time.

Before installation, set the MCB labeled Bat under the rectifier to OFF in case of high current. During the installation, the positive and negative poles of batteries should not be shortcircuited. Tools like wrenches and screwdrivers must be insulated. Otherwise, a burnt battery may cause human injuries.

Precautions
l

The power cables of batteries are black cables and red cables, among which the 48 V power cable is black and the RTN(+) power cable is red. The batteries are very heavy and so you must hold them with both hands and carry and place them gently to avoid damage to the batteries. The installation tools must be insulated. The plastic housing of the batteries and the electrode wiring terminals must be kept intact during the installation.

Step 3 Use the RTN(+) power cable and 48 V power cable to connect the positive and negative poles of the batteries to the copper bar, and install the protecting hood of the wiring terminals. Figure 4-80 shows the connection of the RTN(+) power cable. The 48 V power cable is connected in the same way.

Step 4 Route the power cables along the copper bar through the DC cable hole on the right of the cabinet top into the APM30 cabinet and then connect the cables to wiring terminals BAT(-) and RTN (+) on the power supply subrack respectively, as shown in Figure 4-81.

4.11 Sealing the Cable Holes


The cable holes need to be sealed with fireproof clay after the installation of the APM30 cables.

Procedure
Step 1 Route the cables orderly and bind them with cable ties. Step 2 Seal the cable holes with fireproof clay. To seal the cable holes, do as follows:

Fill the fireproof clay in the cable holes. If the APM30 cabinet is installed on a pole or a wall, you can fill the clay from both inside and outside of the cabinet. If the APM30 cabinet is installed on the floor, you can fill the fireproof clay only from inside of the cabinet. To fully seal the cable holes with fireproof clay, you should keep the cables in the center of the hole.

Figure 4-82 shows the fireproof clay filled from outside of the cabinet.

4.12 Checking the Installation of the APM30


After the APM30 is installed, you must check the cabinet installation, electrical connections, power-on status, and field cleanliness.

Procedure
Step 1 To check the cabinet installation, refer to 4.12.1 Checklist for the APM30 Cabinet. Step 2 To check the electrical connections, refer to 4.12.2 Checklist for the Electrical Connection of the APM30. Step 3 Check the power-on status.

DANGER
The power-on status check involves high-voltage operation. Be cautious when conducting the power-on check. Any direct contact with the input voltage or indirect contact through damp objects might endanger your life. 1. 2. 3. Ensure that the input voltage of the APM30 is from 176 V AC to 290 V AC and that the equipment is powered on. Set the AC input MCB SW1 of the APM30 to ON to power on the APM30. Turn the multimeter to the DC range. Measure the voltage of the DC output terminals LOAD1 and LOAD2 in the power supply subrack. The proper range is from 58 V DC to 44 V DC. Set the DC power distribution MCB to OFF. Turn the multimeter to the DC range. Measure the voltage of the DC output terminals in the DC power distribution unit. The proper range is from 58 V DC to 44 V DC. Set the AC input MCB SW1 of the APM30 to OFF to power off the APM30. Check whether the DC backup power is in normal condition by referring to 3.3 and 3.4.

4.12.1 Checklist for the APM30 Cabinet


This describes the checklist for the APM30 cabinet. Table 4-4 Checklist for the APM30 cabinet SN 1 2 Item The cabinet is located in strict compliance with the engineering design. When the APM30 is mounted on a wall, the holes of the mounting ears are aligned with the bolt holes. The mounting ears are placed against the wall securely. When the APM30 is mounted on a metal pole, the pole fixtures are secure and reliable. When the APM30 is installed on the floor, the base is securely installed. The horizontal error of the cabinet is less than 3 mm and the vertical error is not greater than 3 mm. All the bolts are tightened, especially for electrical connections. The flat washers and spring washers are completely and properly installed. The cabinet is neat and clean. The paint on the surface of the cabinet is satisfactory. The space reserved for the transmission equipment is covered by a filler panel. The cabinet door and the lock are functional. The locking lever is tightened. All the labels are complete, correct, and legible.

4.12.2 Checklist for the Electrical Connection of the APM30


This describes the checklist for the electrical connection of the APM30. Item According to the wiring diagram of the power system, check whether the PGND cables are securely connected, whether the AC lead-in and cables inside the cabinet are properly connected, and whether the screws are tightened. Ensure that no short circuit occurs in output and input cables. The redundant part of the power cable or PGND cable is stripped off rather than coiled. The lugs at both ends of the power cable or the PGND cable are securely soldered or crimped. The exposed wires at the wiring terminals and the lug handles are insulated by the insulating tape or heat-shrinkable tube. The flat washers and spring washers are well mounted to all wiring terminals. The connectors of each cable are securely connected, especially those at the bottom of the APM30 cabinet. All cables are neatly bound with cable ties arranged at even intervals, to proper tightness, and in the same direction. The power cable and PGND cable are routed separately from other cables. The cables are distributed in a way to facilitate maintenance and capacity expansion. Both ends of each cable are legible. That is, both ends of the cable are labeled. Extra cable ties are stripped off. All cuts are smooth without sharp projections. The negative pole and the positive pole of batteries are correctly connected.

This describes the checklist for the installation environment of the APM30.
