a) List any TWO learning outcomes for the topic on adding and subtracting money in the school canteen

Student will be able to :


1. Add a. coins up to RM 1 , and b. notes up to RM 10

2. Subtract a. coins up to RM 1 , and b. notes up to RM 10

Explanation of activity : Students do simulation of real life situation in the classroom such as : a. classroom shop b. school canteen , and c. buying grocery

b) Design an original teaching-learning activity in the form of role-playing or a game which will require students to add and subtract money in the school canteen. ( DO NOT use any of the activities in the module )

Title Buying and Selling Food

Objectives : Pupils should be able to : 1. Have a hands on experience of buying and selling with money within RM 10.00 . 2. Use addition and subtraction of money in mentally method. 3. Solve exchange problems in sen and RM 4. Create and solve problems

Strategy : Pairwork and Individual

Materials : 1. Play Money 2. Jotter Books 3. Buyers Shopping Card 4. Sellers Shopping Card

Kronology : 1. Create 3 stalls in the classroom : i. ii. iii. The first stall is fried foods. The second stall is cutting fruits. The third stall is cold drinks and mineral water.

2. Each stall has RM 50.00 value of foods for buying and selling activities. 3. Each pupil is to prepare his play money worth of RM 10.00 a day before. 4. The variety of money are : i. ii. iii. iv. v. One piece of RM 5.00 Two pieces of RM 1.00 Three pieces of 50 sen Ten pieces of 10 sen 10 pieces of 5 sen Total provided RM 5.00 RM 1.00 RM 1.50 RM 1.00 ______50 sen RM 10.00

5. Ask pupils to recall the algorithm of addition and subtraction of money. 6. Emphasize the importance of the RM sign , the . and the alignment of the signs and numbers. 7. Choose pupils for split cartegory of buyers and sellers. 8. Choose pupils from buyers cartegory for advance trade activities. ( individual ) 9. Split the class up into two groups and start briefing to the pupils ( add-on rules and regulation ) 10. Each buyers group will be three members and assign them as Seller and Buyer .

11. Three groups are choosen to be seller and the rest of groups will be buyer. 12. Each of buyers group is to combine their play money to total up to RM 10.00 . 13. Buyers group are free to buy food from each of three stall. 14. The total spending of each group must not exceed RM 10.00 . 15. The best buyer from each group will be choosen to do advance trade activities. 16. The choosen buyer can buy food up to RM 15.00 . 17. Brief Buyer on their roles : i. ii. iii. iv. v. vi They will go on shopping spree to buy any food that their like using play money. Once they buy an item , they keep the item in shopping card. The items bought and spending amount are to be recorded down on their jotter book. At the end of the shopping activities , they are to total up their expenditure and find out how much they have left. They have to count their play money to tally with their jotter book list. If the calculation didnt tally between jotter book and shopping card , they have to find out the problem and recalculate.

18. Brief Seller on their roles : i. ii. iii. iv. v. Each group of seller is to display their foods along with the price tags . ( Different colour for each type of food ) Each seller will be given different type of food. The total up of each sellers food are RM 50.00 , many variety of foods in the same cartegory . They will sell their foods to all groups . When the foods is sold , sellers must keep record in their selling cards.

After each sale , they are to record down thye item sold and the amount got on their jotter book. At the end of the spree , they are to total up their earnings with the RM 50.00 they have at the start of the activity. Then , they have to count their play money to tally with their jotter book.

19. One buyer of each group will be choosen to perform individual shopping. ( game ) i. ii. iii. iv. v. They will provided with RM 10.00 and RM 5.00 extra for buying activities. They are also provided with shopping card that have a list of foods to buy. All buyers will be given time within 3 minutes to buy all the foods in the list. The fastest buyer and high accuracy will be the winner. The winners group will get a surprise present.

20. Pupils must use their jotter books to do working when calculating the change. 21. All buyers and sellers must have tally balance between shopping/selling cards and jotter books. 22. The total of play money must be accured. 23. Distribute worksheet all pupils fullfil the worksheet with data from their groups jotter book. 24. Carry out the activity. 25. Collect the worksheet and shopping/selling cards.

c) Briefly discuss how you will evaluate pupils to determine if they have acquired the skill of adding and subtracting money in daily life.

1. Worksheet Each pupil will be given a worksheet. They have to fill the worksheet with buying and selling data . From the worksheet ,each pupils will be evaluate.

2. Reflection Each group have to explain what they have done during the selling and buying activities. They must report what food that they have bought and balance of play money.Teacher will record and culculate the data. From the data each group will be evaluate.
