Tinnitus can be caused by numerous

chemical, medical and physical conditions. Persistent tinnitus ear ringing can be caused by very high level and loud sounds like music concerts, high impact noises from a bomb or explosion, and/or gunshots, jackhammers, industrial machinery that can cause damage to the inner ear cavity. Too much taking of aspirin for hypertensive patients, patients with Menieres disease, usage of nasal sprays, etc People working on a regular basis with power industrial equipment for a lengthened period of time can also cause tinnitus symptoms. The tremendously deafening noise can cause permanent damage to a spiral shaped organ in the inner ear called cochlea inside the eardrum. A single exposure to a sudden extremely loud noise such as a loud explosion can also cause mild ringing of the ear that later becomes full blown tinnitus. Other physiological and medical disorders like anxiety, stress, hypertension, heart and blood vessels problems, thyroid disorder and anemic conditions can also cause tinnitus symptoms. Other ear problems, conditions or injuries that can damage your auditory nerves and system can cause tinnitus especially when there is tumor growth. Studies show that even the growth of polyps in the nasal cavity can cause the development of tinnitus ear ringing.

Tinnitus can be caused by a broad range of conditions and poor health. Wax and fluid accumulation or buildup in the ear canal or any other blockage in the auditory canal can also increase the risk of tinnitus. Dental problems leading to mercury amalgamation fillings have also been linked to severe ear ringing symptoms. Tinnitus is caused by numerous physiological and medical reasons related with the ear and other organs interconnected to it. The main causes are as follows: Loss of hearing: Research says it generally appears at an old age of 60 years old and above. Tinnitus is more obvious when experiencing general hearing loss. Wax buildup in ears: Cerumen or in laymans terms earwax the waxy material that is secreted by the sebaceous glands in the internal auditory meatus of the outer ear which protect the delicate skin that lines the inside of the meatus, traps the dirt from entering the ear canal and thus acts as a shield or wall for it; however, large accumulation of wax can block the ear canal and thus causes irritation leading to ringing sounds that is associated with tinnitus. Several Ear Infections: Severe ear infections that can cause tinnitus are as follows: Otitis Externa inflammation of the ear canal between the eardrum and the external opening of the ear ( the external auditory meatus) Myringitis inflammation of the eardrum, often due to viral infection.

Acute Otitis Media inflammation usually due to viral or bacterial infection of the middle ear ( the chamber lying behind the ear drum and containing the three bony ossicles that conduct sounds to the inner ear). Secretory Otitis Media (or Otitis Media with effusion) is a chronic accumulation of fluid in the middle ear, causing hearing loss (glue ear). Chronic Supporative Otitis Media a chronic inflammation of the middle ear associated with perforations of the eardrumand in some instances with Cholesteatoma. Labyrinthitis (Otitis Interna) inflammation of the inner ear causing vertigo, vomiting, loss of balance, and deafness. Ear Canal Blockage: Ear canal obstruction due to wax or fluid buildup, fungal, bacteria or any other ear infection is also linked to tinnitus ear ringing. Acoustic Neuroma: A non-malignant tumor growth that begins at the 8th cranial nerve, that runs from the brain to the inner ear cavity. Any interruption in the signals along with the 8th cranial nerve will generate interference in hearing and the patient suffering from this will find it difficult to maintain his equilibrium. Menieres disease: a disease of the inner ear characterized by episodes of deafness, buzzing in the ears and vertigo. Typically the attacks are preceded by a sensation of fullness in the ear. Symptoms last for several hours and between attacks the affected ear may return to normal, although hearing does not tend to deteriorate gradually with repeated attacks. It is thought to be caused by the buildup of fluid in the inner ear. Its caused by abnormal inner ear fluid pressure or composition.

Damage to the ear caused by drugs: There are certain drugs such as aspirin and nasal cold spray which can cause mild to serious damage to the ear cavity that can cause tinnitus specifically the tympanic membrane or the so called the perforation of the eardrum and thus making the condition worse. Blast injury from a blast or explosion: An instant earsplitting sound from a blast, bomb explosion, concerts, etcStudy shows that only 50 decibels is allowed to be accommodated for a normal ear sounds. Thus, more than this can cause tinnitus. Head and Neck Injuries: Neck and head injuries causes damage to the veins and other significant parts that supports proper blood circulation and functions of our bodys vital organs may become a cause of ringing ears tinnitus. Stiffening of ear bones: For the geriatrics, the bones adjoining the ear canal connected with the diaphragm become rigid resulting in hissing or ringing sounds in the ear. There are some other cases like the Malformation of capillaries, Hypertension or High Blood pressure, anxiety and stress, etc. Tinnitus causes are numerous but preventable.
