Ultra-compact platform with proven technologies bring you economical advanced 3G services
To meet competitive pressures and differentiate their position in the market, mobile service providers:
Need to control and reduce capital expenses (CAPEX) and operating expenses (OPEX) Continually improve service levels Enable delivery of advanced 3G data services

Alcatel-Lucent has the in-depth knowledge of global customer networks and business challenges to help you achieve these ambitious goals. As the leader in spread-spectrum technologies with more than 42% CDMA infrastructure share globally (source: DellOro, December 2008), Alcatel-Lucent continues to lead the industry in design innovations by reducing footprint, increasing capacity, coverage, and enabling revenue-generating features. The 9224 Base Station Sub-Compact is built on our proven common base station platform. The product brings you an effective and economical way to drive down OPEX and CAPEX, while delivering next-generation capabilities. The 9224 Base Station Sub-Compact meets the need for

low cost 3G deployments requiring low to medium carrier density, and provides additional coverage for holes, hot spots and rural areas. It is global ITU standard compliant. While supporting CDMA2000 mobile high-speed data capabilities, the 9224 Base Station Sub-Compact also delivers the higher voice capacity and quality that accompanies third generation services. Its small footprint helps you improve network performance and coverage with indoor and outdoor deployments. These applications can provide you with both a source of new revenue and a tool to reduce churn. Studies indicate that a leading reason subscribers seek a new carrier is poor coverage the 9224 Base Station Sub-Compact helps you effectively address this challenge to retain and gain customers.

Offer scalability and flexibility, lower CAPEX and OPEX

Mobile operators deploying the 9224 Base Station Sub-Compact can benefit from proven features, such as Multi-Carrier Radios (MCRs), next generation controllers, flexible channel element modular, multicarrier amplifiers, timing, and power distribution. The 9224 Base Station Sub-Compact offers high scalability: you can deploy it as a single carrier omni configuration, and increase to six carriers per three sectors in a single frame. With an add-on auxiliary shelf on the top of the indoor cabinet, operators can enjoy up to 7 carriers 3 sectors capacity support on the same existing footprint when they need it. And because the 9224 Base Station Sub-Compact is built with the same assets as our 9228 Base Station Macro, you can expect the same outstanding performance and reliability. When compared with the 9226 Base Station Compact, the 9224 Base Station Sub-Compact offers more than a third reduction in volume, as well as footprint savings. Its common platform approach and compact design can help you better manage your capital and operational expenditures and gain significant cost savings opportunities. The Alcatel-Lucent 9224 Base Station Sub-Compact supports IP Backhaul and the evolution to an all-IP Transport Network. With IP Backhaul, you can gain backhaul cost reductions by reducing T1/E1 leasing expenses through improved bandwidth utilization. You can anticipate operating savings because of more efficient backhaul provisioning and maintenance. In addition, the product has Ethernet backhaul planned in the future to further reduce operating expenses. Alcatel-Lucent also strives to help service providers reduce their OPEX while enabling them to operate a more efficient network. The 9224 Sub-Compact is equipped with the latest amplifier technology that will lower operators' energy bills by almost 60 percent over the previous generation of amplifiers, creating a more "green" environment.
