Chapter I A MIRACLE MINISTRY "Anything that pertains to a person's physical body getting well is healing. Anything else is confusing." The above statement is the exact words which were given to me last night in a dream. Just as I spoke these words I awoke! Then at 5 a.m. I felt impressed to write this explanation of the difference in the Gifts of Healing and the Gift of the Working of Miracles. Some Wrong Explanations of the working of these two gifts are given by various writers, ministers, and scholars, many times because they seek to justify themselves before an audience that does not see an instant healing in the prayer line. The explanation only confuses the audience more. A healing is a healing, whether it is instant or gradual. When a healing is done by the Supernatural power of God it is divine healing. 1. Some people explain that when a healing takes place suddenly it is the gift of working of miracles in operation. All divine healing is miraculous. Every time God heals someone supernaturally it is a miracle, but it Goes not come under the gift of working of miracles. All nine of the Spiritual Gifts, recorded in I Corinthians Twelve, are supernatural, and must be called miracles, But eight of them are not listed under the heading of the Spiritual Gift of Working of Miracles. The Spiritual Gift of the Working of Miracles is a supernatural manifestation of the Spirit of God, which is not incluued in the other eight gifts. That includes all the miracles which the other eight gifts do not include. The Gifts of Healing have to do with making any part of the body well, by the supernatural working of God's Spirit, whether it takes place gradually or instan taneously.

How Healing Takes Place is not for us to decide. That is up to God. He divides the gifts to every man severally as He wills. There are diversities of Operations (I Cor. 12 :6). When Jesus healed the Nobleman's son at a distance, and he began to amend from that hour, that was the Gifts of Healing in action. (John 4 :46). When Jesus spoke to Peter's mother-in-law, and she arose and ministered unto them, that was the Gifts of Healing in action, (Matt. 8:15),When Jesus spoke to blind Bartimaus, and his eyes were instantly opened, that was also the Gifts of Healing in operation. When Paul laid his hands on Publius' father and healed him I'm sure that the bloody flux was not healed as instantly as when Paul said to a man, "Stand upright on thy feet". (Acts 28:8; 14:10). In one case the people would know the healing was done as the blood passed from the man's body; in the other case the man leaped and walked then and there for the first time in his life. In each case the Gifts of Healing was in operation. One time Peter lifted a man up, who was lame from his mother's womb. He was healed instantly and walked! He even ran and leaped! (Acts 3). Other times people discovered that they were healed as Peter's shadow crossed over them. In either case the Gifts of Healing were in operation. Jesus touched a man's eyes twice before he was made perfectly whole. Another time He put mud into a blind man's eyes and told him to go about five miles across town and wash in a pool. Ananias laid his hands on Paul. "And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received his sight forthwith ... " (Acts 9: 18). Jesus spoke to a leper, "I will; be thou clean". "And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed" (Mark 1 :42). Another time Jesus told some lepers to go show themselves to the priest. " ... And it came to pass, as they

went, they were cleansed" (Luke 17: 14). In all the above cases, although there are diversities of operations, the Gifts of Healing an! in action. Rev. X Says that "When your deaf ear opens instantly that is the Gift of Miracles and not the Gifts of Healing in operation. Healing will cause your ear to open a little at a time for several days." But we do not lind in the Bible that Jesus told the people that the Gifts of Healing were so powerless and weak. Rev. X tells his audience that they should not expect a blind eye to see perfectly as soon as he prays for them, that healing will cause the eye to see little by little cay by day. He says they should not expect a miracle. But the Bible teaches that divine healing is always miraculous. Rev. X tells the people the Gifts of Healing will cause nature to heal them gradually. But when nature heals you that is natural healing. The Spiritual Gifts of Healing are supernatural healing. Rev. X says, "When one is healed instantly that is the Gift of Miracles in action. One should not expect the Gifts of Healing to heal him instantly." But it looks as if that is negative preaching, that Rev. X is afraid instant healings won't occur, that the audience won't believe he has the Gifts of Healing. Rex. X says that when he prays for someone who has his arm burned the Gifts of Healing will gradually let the skin grow back on, as nature takes its course; that if anything supernaturally takes places, that is the Gift of Miracles and not healing. This only confuses the audience more and causes them not to expect anything supernatural to take place. Rev. X says that a man over seventy years old cannot receive healing by the Gifts of Healing, that if he ever happens to be healed it is just because God diu something He did not promise to do, and just happened to perform a miracle. But the Gift of Healing is just as much a miracle as the Gift of Miracles.

The Bible Says that Jesus healed all manner of sickness and all manner of diseases, the hard cases as well as the easy cases. Jesus healed ALL those who were oppressed of the devil, not possessed, but oppressed. Sickness and disease are oppression. Notice in the case of the healing of the withered hand in the synagogue: "And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would HEAL on the sabbath day ... But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth ... And his hand was restored whole as the other" (Luke ,6). Jesus did not tell the man who had. the withered hand that he would have to wait until a certain "miracle night". He did not tell him that the hand must wait until nature took its course and gradually grow larger. In this case the man was instantly healed! That is what the Gifts of Healing will do. In another place, as Jesus was teaching in a certain place that "the power of God was present to HEAL." Four men let an incurable cripple, who was unable to walk, down the roof of the house. IMMEDIATEL Y the man was healed and walked out carrying his bed. Jesus taught him to expect instant healing! He received what he expected. A certain woman was given up to die by the physicians, after she had spent all of her money. She grew worse. She was facing death. Jesus did not tell her that healing would cause her to get well little by little for several months. Read the record: "And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was HEALED of that plague" (Mark 5 :29). Jesus did not tell her that the Gifts of healing could not do anything miraculous. He told her that she was made whole! When Jesus was arrested in the garden the servant

of the high priest had the terrible misfortune of getting his ear cut completely off! What happened. Here is the inspired record: "And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear and HEALED him" (Luke 22 :51). The Gifts of Healing are just as miraculous as any other spiritual Gift! Believe and receive! Expect a miracle! You don't have to wait until "nature heals you some far distant, hoped for time". If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE UNTO YOU! If your nerves are strained; if your ear drum is burst; if your hair has fallen out; if your eyes are dim; if you are ninety years old; regardless of your condition, the Gifts of Healing can make you whole, without having to wait until sometime in the longa I for distance, when there happens to be someone in town with a special night! Jesus passed by the pool of Bethesda one time. He saw a multitude of people. He told a man to pick up his bed and walk. The man obeyed and was made whole i~stantly. He had been in that condition for thirtyeight years. He had waited long enough I think. Jesus did not tell him that the Gifts of Healing were so weak and little that he would need to wait another year until nature took its course and finally made him well. No, the man picked up his bed and walked that minute! He was made whole. "And he that was HEALED wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away ... (John 5: 13). So he was HEALED. Healing is a miracle if it is done by God's power! Peter looked on a man at the Gate called Beautiful. The man had been lame from his mother's womb. Peter did not tell him that the Gifts of Healing would make him get better, and that he might learn to walk sometimes. No, he shook hands with him. The man went leaping, walking and running through the church! Was

the man healed by a miracle? Is healing a miracle, or is it just nature helping you? "And beholding the man which was HEALED standing with them, they could say nothing against it" (Acts 4 :14). Paul perceived that a man had faith to be HEALED. He told him to stand upright on his feet. The man had never walked. He arose and walked then and there! No one taught him to walk. God said he was h-e-a-l-e-d healed! " and perceiving that he had faith to be HEALED (Acts 14 :9). Had that man been near some evangelists today he would have been taught that he had to get better little by little, and nature would help him, that the Gifts of Healing could not heal him suddenly. I am telling you to be ready! You may receive instant healing! Take it anyway God gives it to you! It is just as easy for the Lord to heal you instantly as to take weeks for it. He would receive more glory. Gifts of Healing. The Gifts of Healing are plural. (I Cor. 12). Every man has his proper gift of God. "Having gifts therefore differing, according to the grace that is given unto us ... let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: ... " (Rom. 12 :6-7). Each of us must minister according to the gift God has given to us. Some have different results in healing than others. There are diversities of operation of the gifts of healing (I Cor. 12). One evangelist prays a simple prayer. Another anoints with oil and lays his hand on people. Some agrees with another and prays. One prays over the radio. One has people healed over television. One minister sees instant healings more than another. One minister sees more gradual healings. One man sees blind eyes and deaf ears opened quicker than another. Wheel chairs are emptied in one meeting more than in another evangelist's healing line. Crutches and braces

are discarded in one meeting, while another man has faith for a gradual deliverance. They minister according to the proportion of their faith. They praise the Lord for each other's ministry and do not criticize another. If they have more faith they have it to themselves and to God and do not brag too much about it. The Gift of Miracles will do many things, but it never heals the sick. Regardless of your condition the Gifts of Healing will HEAL ALL thy diseases (Ps. 103 :1-3). The Gift of Miracles will include any miracle God performs that the other eight gifts do not cover. The Gift of Miracles casts out devils. We see that gift manifested in many of our services. Most every night devils are cast out of people. But that is no more a miracle than the Gifts of Healing. When the Gift of Miracles is in operation people receive the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands. We have seen that happen every night for many years in succession. But that is no more a miracle than the Gifts of Healing. The Gift of Miracles will divide the waters. As Moses stretched out his rod the waters rolled back! The River of Jordan piled up for Joshua. But that is no more a miracle than the spiritual gift of the Gifts of Healing. The Gift of Miracles will still the storms. The waves and the winds will obey God's command. But that is no more a miracle than when God heals a cancer. The iron will swim. The lions will refuse to eat Goo's servants. Money will appear in a fish's mouth. Water may be turned to wine by the Gift of Miracles. But that is no more a miracle than the Gifts to Heal. The Gifts of healing are Spiritual. They arc powerful. Believe it. The Gift of Miracles will raise the dead. It works in its place but is not any more a miracle than the rest of the gifts. God may not always divide the Sea, raise the dead, or put money in the fish's mouth or make the iron to

swim, but He has promised to forgive ALL OUR INIQUITIES and HEAL ALL OUR DISEASES. (Ps. 103: 10-3). And He will.

Chapter FIVE FINAL

II SIGNS

Since I permitted one of the inspired dreams to be printed in the Herald of Deliverance I have noticed that several others also had been spoken to in like manner. In March 11th issue of the Pentecostal Evangel WI: see that a man was shown something about the Communist twelve years ahead of time. I have heard from other states since this piece has been published. Others have written me that they have also had dreams about the future of our nation. Let me pause to say that dreams and visions which are contrary to Scripture are never of God. Keep that in mind. But if we only knew of the dreams given to people of the rapture, Heaven, or Hell alone they would fill volumes. WOMEN'S PART IN THE CHURCH. For a person to remind us of what was not permitted in the early days concerning women taking part in public v-crship is to acknowledge that it is only in late years that women have taken part in pulpit ministry. Is not that a sign that the sun is to be turned into darkness and the moon into blood'? None will deny, after reading about these signs, that this is a major sign; for we have many women and girls preaching now. Little girls are winning people to God under the anointing of the Spirit. Why close your eyes to the fact that God's "daughters" and "handmaidens" have a prominent part in the last day signs? From now on just say, "The next thing, we will see the sun turn into darkness and the moon into bloocl; the rapture will take place before that terribla <lay." WONDERS IN THE HEAVENS: What does it mean when we read and hear about the atoms being split. We simply say, "That is a wonder." It is a wonder in the natural Heavens. It fulfills prophecy by melting the elements. Did it just happen so that the six of the eight planets, lined up as if they were on a parade, in the west close to Christmas at the end of the first half of the twentieth century'? No, scienists tell us it was the first

When we are on the road we notice the signs to see if we are on the right road. But just before we arrive at the town we are bound for we see a few large signs. They are easy to read. Part of them are Iightecl; they are surely noticed. In Joel 2 :28-32 and in Acts 2 :15-20 we are told of five final signs so we will know where we are on the road we are traveling. For this road has no end. God says these five sure signs will occur JUST BEFORE THE SUN IS TURNED INTO DARKNESS AND THE MOON IS TURNED INTO BLOOD; just before the TERRIBLE DAY OF THE LORD which we call the Great Tribulation. We should observe these five large signs; for the Spirit-led Saints of God, the overcomers, will be snatched away from this earth just before the Great Tribulation period, in which there will be tribulations worse than the world has ever known. For convenience I will list firstDREAMS AND VISIONS: I am not a man given to dreams so much in the natural, but since I received the Holy Ghost some eighteen years ago the Spirit has spoken to me many many times in dreams or visions showing me the future, showing me things existing giving me directions on this road I am traveling, or warning me of danger. I have been saved thousands of dollars, or have been permitted to win many people to God in this way. After all, why have the Spirit if He noes not teach you? He is our teacher. Did He not speak to Peter, Paul and others in the same way? Are not we men of like passion?

time since just before Noah's flood. Did it just happen so that two of the planets passed each other for the first time since just before the birth of Christ? And what about all the problems the wise men are faced with today? They tell us that the sun will be close enoug-h to burn people. We have already read that in the Bible. What about the little things, as the picture of Jesus taken in the air with a kodak? about the hundreds of people seeing Jesus in the air during a battle? I wish I had time to mention the times people have seen Jesus, stars, or lights over our revival services' and you know of the wonders we see our tlying rnachines perform above our heads. WONDERS IN THE EARTH: Since the wise men have discovered that there is liquid fire 18 miles below us they are learning the Bible is true. And the Bible told us that waters would turn to blood before the late papers stated that in many places the water has already formed a red color, and the scientists cannot tell it from blood. They might take notice that it will all be blood soon! What means all the records being broken over the world? New things are taking place each day. I am speaking about the droughts, explosions, freezes, cyclones and scores of other things that we cannot find on the record before. Is it a wonder that all our gold is under granite rock? And in England it is under 60 feet of concrete. Does that fulfill James five? In the 26-mile cave, Jessie James and other out-laws used to hide in; they are talking of spending a million dollars to fix it up for our "key men" to hide in from the bombs. The great men (that means rich men of course) will hide where the robbers used to hide. Think of the bomb-shelters under every major city where people will den up like rats! In one nation they can shelter about one-third of their population uncler the ground. In other nations the defense plants and the

national capitals will be uncler ground. People say these are modern day wonders! God says they are signs! In this verse it speaks of blood, fire and vapor of smoke. If you were in the battle fields you would have no trouble believing this. Men's blood is poured out like water, as the enemy sprays gasoline on them and sets them on fire! Soon there will be over two hundred miles of human blood deep enough for a horse to swim in. UPON ALL FLESH: I used to wonder what this meant. He said He would pour out His Spirit upon ALL FLESH. Upon ALL PEOPLE, regardless of nation, state, church, race or color the Spiirt is being poured today. And if Jesus tarries a few more months you will see it in a greater measure. THERE WILL BE A WORLDWIvE CRUSADE FOR PENTECOST. THE INVITATJON WILL BE TO ALL PEOPLE OF ALL CHURCHES. I want to remind you narrow-minded, prejudiced, isolated people that go by the name Pentecost, and call your church by that name, that it will not be for your church only. Already the Spirit is being poured out on preachers, teachers and members from every church under the face of the sun. There is no lines drawn with God. Some whole denominational churches are "comeouters". They are receiving the out-pouirng of the Spirit, Glory to God! I want you to know that the out-pouring of the Spirit means not only tongues, shouting and other things, but it means all the trimmings. It means healing from every disease or sickness known to man. It means miracles! It means the blind, deaf, dumb and lame are delivered! No one has a "corner" on this. It is world-wide! It is city-wide! It is nation-wide! It is church-wide! This universal outpouring is not only for a few old women, although they play an important part, but the young men and the old men (Joel 2 :28) are streaming

down the aisles with the "sons and daughters". It seems that we have more men to receive this outpouring than women. The other night when those four men, about 85, received this experience, and we have many men around 75 years old receive this oxper ience who have never been saved before, we realize God is lighting His signs up. It is unto you and your children, even as many as the Lord shall call, to every creature, even to the end of the world, to the uttermost parts of the earth, to every language, tribe and tongue. Even the Jews are on the list to receive this outpouring just in the future. It means deliverance from habits, from bondage, from spirits! I like Joel 2:32. "WHOSOEVER shall call upon the name of the Lord SHALL be DELIVERED." Whosoever means any nationality, race, color, denomination whosoever WILL. Will you be delivered? Whosoever means YOU-regardless of what you need deliverance from! That is why we have deliverance services all over the country, states, nation and the world.

Chapter III I TOUCHED JESUS Covered with sores, with his flesh rotting off his bones, cast out from society, forsaken by men-a poor helpless leper comes limping humbly to the Master. Hear him saying, "If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean." "And Jesus moved with COMPASSION, put forth his hand and touched him, and said unto him, 'I will; be thou clean'." (Mark 1 :41) Darkness, gloominess, sadness and lonliness was all two men knew, as they sat beside the dusty road, wishing for a nickel to help satisfy hungry children, not to say anything of the pains gnawing in their own bodies. Hut the hunger in their souls and spirits was more in-12-

tense. Hear them crying out as only hungry men can: "Have mercy on us 0 Lord." "So Jesus had COMPASSION on them and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him." (Matt. 20 :34) Crying, suffering, screaming, cutting himself, bleeding, and foaming at the mouth, a wild, naked, filthy, unruly, demon-possessed man, with over 2000 demon spirits is tearing down the tombs, breaking the cords and chains. See him! The jails crumble from round him! His family cannot stay close to where he is! Now, see him standing normally, in his right mind, and clothed! What has made the change? The Master is saying something! Listen! "Go home to thy friends and tell them what great things the Lord hath done for thee, and had COMPASSION on thee". (Mark 5:19) Picture number four: I see Peter, James and John the next day after they came from their mountain-top experience. A valley is after every mountain. That is where we meet the devil. Their case was no exception. Hear them crying! "Come out, you devil, in Jesus' name come out of the boy." They mean it. They are red in the face as they scream louder; but, why does he not come out? This is the kind that will not yield unless there has been prayer and fasting. But look! Here comes a man who has been praying and fasting: "And one of the multitude, answered and said, Master I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; and wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him; and he foameth and gnashed with his teeth, and pineth away ... and straightway the spirit tare him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed foaming ... and oft time it has cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him; but if thou canst do anything, have COMPASSION on us ... and the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and cast out of him: (Mark 9: 14-29). form of her last boy toward the cemetery: This was her last son and bread-winner. With all her sons, her husband, her home, her hopes gone, she cannot choke back her tears! No future! No courage! Full of darkness and despair she is led slowly along the dusty road by a few neighbors! "And when Jesus saw her he had COMPASSIO~ on her, and said unto her, weep not, and he came and touched the bier, and they that bare him stood still ... and he that WAS dead sat up and began to speak." (Luke 7 :13-15) In all five pictures above we see oneword used: What does it mean '? the word COMPASSION? In recent months and years I have met with people, such as the above--bound, oppressed, possessed, depressed, diseased, deaf, heart-broken, discouraged, forsaken, and almost every other condition. To see spastic children who cannot walk is heartrending. Every time I see a little blind girl in the arms of a broken-hearted mother it makes my heart cry out, "Oh, for the COMPASSION of Christ." Some with water heads ! Some with cancer of the blood! Others deaf, mute, deformed, with palsy or polio! If I were the Mother I could understand more. What if you were the mother who has to sit with the child year after year! What if it were your child! The Lord's heart is more compassionate than a mother's. That is the reason He heals, because He is moved with compassion-not to show He can, to prove the Bible, or to build a Church altogether. I refuse to serve a God who is not moved with COMPASSION. That is the reason why we have Deliverance Services. Without the Spirit of God we are none of His. Every Christian wants to see people well. Listen, do you believe this? "He keeps us as the apple of His eye." (Deut. 32:10) "He is touched with the feeling of our infirmity." (Hebrews 4:15) "The minute I suffered He was touched.' (Heb. 4:15). When I touched

Him I was made whole. (Mark 6 :56). Do you have infirmities? THEN YOU HAVE TOUCHED THE COMPASSIONATE CHRIST! ARISE AND BE MADE WHOLE.

Chapter IV GBNUINE EXPERIENCES

"Do you think people receive genuine experiences to~ay when they receive the Holy Spirit'? Don't you thmk we received a better experience several years ago than the people do today'?" A minister has just asked me that question. I was dumb with silence. I was just thinking for awhile. Then very lowly I asked, "Does God give false experi:~ces.? Something that is not real'! (Luke 11 :913). ThI~ scripture comes to me: "And I say unto you, Ask, and It shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find : Knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son s~all a.sk bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent'? Or if he shall ask an egg will he offer. him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, k~ow how to grve good gifts untc your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him T" If God does give false experiences then people will be afrui? to yield La God to receive something that is not g.enum~. l:'e?ple who do not have the Holy Ghost Baptism WIllthink they are better than the ones who have it, thinking the latter have a false experience. If anyone had the right to say that there was a false baptism it was the Jews when the Gentiles received the Holy Spirit. But Peter was honest. He said they received the Holy Spirit, "For we heard them speak

with tongues and magnify God" (Acts 10 :46) "as on us at the beginning" (11: 15). Peter did not say he would have to watch them for a certain period of time to see how they grew or how they lived. I am sure they all received the same experience (Ads 11 :15). However, if they were like all other people, their experiences were not the same six months later. Why does it seem that the people fifty years ago received a better experience than some do today? Is the Pentecost Experience running out? Persecutions Past Persecutions followed the Pentecostals a few years past more than at the present. Most of the people today have Pentecostal kinsfolk. Naturally people do not pray as much when they do not meet whips, rotten eggs, rotten tomatoes, brick bats, and rocks. Perhaps if people were locked in jail, had their ears poured full of hot lead and tarred and feathered we would have real possessors instead of mere professors. Then it would seem they had "real experiences." Demons of Darkness The very air around us today is infested with demons of darkness, disease, discouragement, despondency, and dread. After one receives an experience with God he may fail to fast and obey God; and let the enemy "cool him off" within a few days. Even Jesus, just after He received the Holy Spirit, received worse temptations from the devil than He did before. But He fought the devil with God's Word. He said, "It is written." People today are not better than J esus, They must use the same weapon of the word or they will decide they did not receive the real thing t Especially with the teachers we have today who build doubt instead of faith. It is not what one obtains, but what he retains, that counts. People do not hide themselves away in secret prayer today as much as they did in days gone by, Although they need to pray more.

Weare living in a fast "push button" age, when things come at a touch or at the turn of a switch. But we cannot keep victory that way. We cannot get "three for a quarter." He that waiteth on the Lord shall renew his strength ... he shall run and not fain (Isa. 40 :3]). Men ought to always pray and not to faint (Luke 18 :1). But the main part of my message isA Baptism in The Power In Prayer A sailor boy who prayer through to the Holy Spirit the other night, asked me how he could keep what he had and get more. I told him to pray someone else through in every service. Had I sat on my seat in church to be entertained just after I received the Holy Spirit I would not have had a 'real experience long. But each time I prayed someone else through I received a fresh experience. Church members are not all to blame today. There are two extremes. Some evangelists do all the praying and let the members sit and be entertained. They backslide just sitting and watching. It is better to get ten people to work than to do the work of ten. The ones the evangelist actually prays through have nothing to do. So they sit with folded arms giving the people reason to think they didn't get the real thing. The evangelist would be the same way if he never worked. Faith without works is dead. Your arm would wither if it were never in use. The other extreme is that some evangelists preach there is a false baptism which is not a "real expe;rience." This makes seekers afraid to accept the Holy Ghost or to even seek, for fear they will receive a "false baptism." People sit back with none to pray for. Even if one does come to the altar they are afraid to help him get through for fear they will do the wrong way and get him through to a false experience. If one gets the Holy Spiric they think it might not be a "real experience", so they let the evangelist do all the praying for people to receive the Holy Spirit.

All who get the Holy Spirit receive a genuine experience at the beginning, though they all do not act alike. God has no respect to persons. The way they get into the service, and work, and help others through, determines their present experience and reward.

V
RIDE

THE MIDNIGHT

"The Red-Coats are coming! The Red-Coats are coming!" The horse was running as fast as it could run. The man was crying at the top of his voice, "The RedCoats are coming! Get ready!" It was midnight. That is the reason history calls it, "Paul Revere and the midnight ride." The load was getting heavier and heavier! Then came the "Boston Tea Party" and the "Stamp Act". To add one more thing to the heavy load of taxes the Bri:tish put on the Stamp Act to raise more taxes. That was when Patrick Henry made the famous speech and spoke those words that have been ringing down through the ages, "Give me liberty or give me death." I wish people had the "back-bone" to say the same thing today. Midnight Cry It was midnight when the plagues came to Egypt. It was midnight when the Israelites were supernaturally delivered. It will be midnight when the Lord comes (Ez. 11 and 12.) Oh, no, it may not be what you call midnight. But Matthew 25 :1-6 tells us it will be midnight. The first two days was up until Noah's flood. The next two until the birth of Christ, and the next two will be until the return of Christ. And those days will be shortened. A thousand years of peaceful will be the seventh clay. That is God's plan. He is working to it. The sixth day is over and gone! Darkness and gross darkness is covering the people. There will be seven

years of night time, or tribulation days. I don't know how far we are into that, but a diagram the scientists drew when the H bomb was made says it is three minuets until twelve. Job 34:20 says, "The people will be troubled at midnight." It also speaks of death. The Revolution The people did not sit idle. They heeded the warning. They loaded their guns. As the British marched, well trained, up the country that night they fell all along the road. The battle was on! Months of bitter fighting went on and on. It went on until the clothes and shoes wore out. George Washington's army could be traced in the snow by the blood which came from their feet. On they kept fighting! They were determined. And because they were determined, they won the battle, and threw off the yoke. In spite of the hardships and proverty they were granted freedom. Independence Signed John Hancock signed his name in large letters so the king of England could read it without his glasses. As they all signed it each spoke famous words of determination and victory. Thus our nation was set free. You have whatever you sign your name to. The devil says you are under bondage. The Lord says you are free. If you sign what the devil says, you are signing your name to this: "You are not saved, you are just partly saved." If you sign what God says, you say, "The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses me from ALL sin." (I John 1 :9). The devil says, "You only got a touch, but you didn't get your healing." God says, "You shall recover." (Mark 16:18). Sign what God does and you shall have your independence. God says, "I am the Lord that healeth thee" (Ex. 15 :26.) Sign it. Sign it and ring the liberty bell. They rang the liberty-bell so hard it cracked. If you will have the deterlmination l If you will fight! If you will get in earnest! Y0U do not have to sit and let the enemy put a heavy bondage on you. You don't have to let the enemy come

in and possess your property. Get some fight in you! Sign a declaration of independence after the victory. Make a constitution and go by it! Then guard your deliverance after you get it! Liberty or Death Can you say that? The Bible is a perfect Law of Liberty. (James 1 :25). It will set you free if you say what it says. "By his stripes you are free" (Isa. 53 :5). He still sends His Word and heals people. (Psa. 107 :20). Glory! He still forgives sins! Believe it! But you must say it! You have what you say. (Mark 11 :23). He that is of God says what God says (John 3 :34) God says He heals all your diseases (Psa. 103: 1-3 and 34 :19). You must have a determination (Heb, 11:6). You must get in earnest (James 5:17). If you will you will get it (Jer. 29 :13). If you have a "mid-night" in your soul, 1 feel like Paul Revere; I am sounding the Mid-night cry. Why don't you be like Patrick Henry? Say, "Give me liberty or death.is surely coming." Right now, revolt against the enemy which is binding you tighter all the time. Get some fight in you! Throw off the yoke! Sign the declaration of independence! Make a constitution! If YOU don't over-come that it is going to overcome you! will get healed or death will overtake you! You wiil get saved or eternal death awaits you! Say, "Liberty or death." Get liberty for soul and body. God will turn your midnight into daylight. (Mal. 4 :2).

VI

HOW TO GET FAITH A question in all our minds today is, "How can I have faith in these trying times?" Some jump to get it; others reach up and scream for it; but faith does not come by trying to have faith. A man who is married does not have to go around

trying to be married. The President of the United States does not have to try to be president. He already is president. If you believe me you do not have to try to believe me. It is the same with believing God. Faith comes simply by hearing the Word of God (Rom. 10 :17) and accepting it. God's Word Brings Faith for Salvation "Receive with meekness the engrafted Word, which is able to save your souls." (James 1 :21). If you want a person to get under conviction, get him reading the Word, or teach him the Word. A few minutes of instruction in the Scriptures may save him months of seeking God. Too many altar workers shout in the ears of those seeking salvation when they ought to be putting Scriptures into their ears. Philip proved the value of the Word when he won the man from Ethiopia. (Acts 8 :35). God's Word Brings Faith for Sanctification "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John 17:17). The more of the living Word we get in our hearts, the more of the divine nature of Jesus we have. In some churches we find people in the ditch of fanaticism, condemning themselves over things the Word does not mention, and trying to get others to measure up to their man-made standard. In other churches we find people have gone in the other direction and are in the ditch of formalism, doing things which the Word speaks against and yet saying they don't feel condemned over it. The Word of God will get both groups out of the ditch and into the middle of the Highway of Holiness, where the way is so plain that a wayfaring man, though a fool, need not err. God's Word Brings Faith for the Baptism " ... the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey Him." (Acts 5:32). We need more wisdom in praying with those who are seeking God for the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. Some-21-

times one person is yelling in the left ear of the seeker, "Hold on," while another person is saying in his right ear, "Turn loose." I think it would be a lot better .i ust to give seekers the Word. Show them the promise of God in a simple way before they start seeking. Sometimes we expect them to know the Scriptures just because we do. A few minutes of down-to-earth Scripture teaching may save them months of seeking. God's Word Brings Faith for Healing "He sent His Word, anci healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." (Psalm 107 :20). Every time I ever received healing for my body I stood on a Bible promise until healing came. I can point you to the verse now. When a man is trying to trust God for his healing without having a promise from God, especially quickened to him by the Holy Spirit, and standing upon it, he is like a man who builds his house without a foundation. The winds will certainly come. Regardless of who may pray for you, you should be rooted and grounded in the Word to obtain and retain your healing. The other night I started to pray for about six women who wanted God to heal them. The first one had been totally deaf in one ear since childhood-about fifty years. I was impressed to hand her the Bible. I told her to read Exodus 15 :26 while I was praying for the others. When I came back to her 1 asked if she had read the Scripture. She said that she had. 1 asked what it said. She replied, "It says, '1 am the Lord that healeth thee,' and He has done it." She could hear a whisper with the ear that had been deaf. She did not need me to pray for her. I was called to go six miles into the country to pray for a woman suffering from gallstones. The neighbors had come together for a prayer meeting. 1 was 'Neary already and had a long service ahead of me, so 1 walked in and showed her the Scripture referred to above. 1 felt 1 was led by the Spirit. 1 asked her whether she believed it. She said that she did. 1 said, "Tell the Lord

that you believe it." She looked up and said, "Lord, You are the Lord that healeth me." I said, "If that is true, you are perfectly easy." She said that the pains were gone. She was up when 1 left. She was healed without our praying. The Word was sent to do the healing. Last Saturday some people came to our door asking for prayer. There were two women who were suffering. While I was reading a Scripture they were healed by the Word, for when 1 started to pray for them they' both told me that they were already easy. One had come to ask prayer only for the suffering around her heart, although she suffered from a goiter and deafness as well, but she discovered that these troubles also had disappeared She said she had been completely deaf in one ear for twenty years, and about 75 per cent deaf in the other, but now she could hear a whisper out of either ear. That woman received the Baptism and her husband was saved because her faith had been quickened. The Word did it. God's Word Brings Faith for Trials When we are tempted to doubt, to be discouraged, to grow careless, or to indulge in sin, we need only to resist the Devil and he will flee. He will not walk away ~he will run away. We resist him with the Word of God. Weare no better than our Lord Jesus. If it was necessary for Him to use the Word to overcome the Devil, we need the Word too. When Jesus was tempted He answered, "It is written," and Satan left Him for a season. If Jesus said, "It is written," we need to say, "It is written." When a person has ears to hear, and listen to the Word of God, that Word brings salvation, sanctification, the Baptism, healing, and whatever he needs. 1 have noticed in conducting revival meetings that in places where a Sunday School is established and the Word has been planted in the people's hearts, the people can get through to God much easier than in places

where they have no Sunday School. In a family where the Word of God is taught in the home, the children can all get saved in one night, whereas it might take weeks to get the family saved otherwise. Truly the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharp-saving, sanctifying, healing, filling, and keeping full those who obey it.

Chapter VII LORD HAVE MERCY Darkness! loneliness! sadness! Many, many long years of weariness! The minutes seemed hours! The hours seemed days! Days slowly grew into weeks, weeks grew into months. And so it went for many years. He had never seen his mother. Neither had he seen father, sister or brother; none of his relatives. He longed to see his wife he loved more than his own life. But even this was denied him. His little daughter and son sat upon his knees. He would hold their hands, hear their vo-ices,and feel the kisses they placed on his face. They discussed the matter with him many times: "Daddy, wouldn't it be grand if you could only see, see the moon, the stars, and the sun, the flowers and the birds and pretty trees. The world is wonderful." None wished it more than this unfortunate man, but he had rather see his family. Or, if he could only make a living for the ones he loved, the other wouldn't matter, and he would be so thankful. It grew so tiresome sitting by that dusty road day after day holding his little cup for a penny now and then. There was no Red Cross or pensions to depend on. What is this a traveler is telling him? "No, that is impossible! That can't be; don't tell me the blind are receiving sight. I know they will some day when our

Messiah comes." The man had told him of a Man who opened people's eyes with a touch. Wha t is that he hears'! Voices-a crowd is coming! "This Man opened my eyes." "This Man healed me." "Jesus opened my ears." "He cast seven devils out of me." He raised me from the dead. "He straightened me out after I was bent over for eighteen years." Then a lady says: "I had spent all I had on doctors; I grew worse, I was sick for twelve long years, the doctors said I couldnt live, but, glory to God, I am well." Yes it sounded much like the testimony-meetings we have at our church. What is that the blind man feels? He has never felt that way before. He knows the presence of God, for he is a praying man. Faith springs up in his heart. "This must be the long-looked-for Messiah." Hear him calling: "Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me." But he is stopped by the Pharisees: "You are making too much noise; let everything be done decent and in order." But it seems that his heart will burst. He cries louder, only to be stopped again by the more severe type. Hear him, at the top of his voice, a heart cry: "Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me." It reached the heart of Jesus; a heart-cry always does. "Be of good cheer, He is calling for thee," someone is telling him. He has the attention of Jesus. A person in earnest always has. He does not hear much of the rest of what is said, FOR HE SEES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HIS LIFE. He is thinking of his little girl. He thanks the Master and hurr-ies toward home, leaving the crowds cheering and glorifying God. One more is healed. He reaches the little cabin at the edge of town, He has made his way somehow. "Why didn't you tell me everything was so wonderful?" he inquires. But they reply, "We have been trying to tell you a long time, but you couldn't understand."

Public Opinion . He could have stood back and stayed quiet. He could have thought about what people would think of him. But he did not. Lots of people will wonder what their preacher will think. They say that their church believes in being quiet. They miss the blessings of God because of the Pharises, Sadducees, those who can't see or those who don't want to see. We need to do as this man, forget about what people will think and do somePersistant Seeking He sought Jesus with all his heart. Jesus promised. us the answer when we seek Him with all our heart (Jer. 29:13). Those who half-heartedly seek God will never get anything (Jas, 1:6-8). He is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him (Reb. 11 :6). We are to pray earnestly (Jas. 5:17; Jude 3; 1 Cor. 12:31). A lazy person will not get many things from God. Regardless of public opinion ana all the opposition; press right on through and get the answer. You can be made whole. Present Mercy The tradition of the elders has made the Word of God of none effect. If the present day Pharisees had their way they would keep everyone from receiving healing. They would like for us to stay quiet. They have a form without the power. They say it is done away with, Jesus is not moved with compassion any more, and that times have changed. They preach on the subject of the blind man. They write commentaries on it. They try to spiritualize it all. They liken it to getting our spiritual eyes open. The commentaries make it apply to spiritual things these days. I am so glad it means just what it says (Luke 4:18; John 14:12). We have scores of testimonies in our files, with names and addresses, where the blind receive sight in our revivals. We can furnish doctor's statements. Leave them alone, preachers and let's seek God!

This man said, "Have mercy on me," and he received healing (Luke 18 :35-43; Matt. 20 :29-34; Mark 10 :4652). HEALING IS MERCY. Every verse in Psalms 136 says, "His mercy endureth forever." Do you believe it? Micah 7 :18 says, "He delighteth in mercy." Psalms 86:5 says, "He is plenteous in MERCY to ALL them that calion him." Psalms 100:5 says, "His word endureth forever." Jesus is the same today (Heb. 13 :8). Suffering friend, get in earnest. Regard not public opinion. Healing is mercy! Mercy i.s healing! God is a merciful God.

Chapter VIn I WAS IN A COMMUNIST COUNTRY There were only three in my family r my wife, boy and myself. As all other citizens we were to register everything we had with the government. Living in the country we had to walk a mile and a half to an olel school house to do this. There was a grocery store there. It was a general store, as they have in the contry, where you could buy nearly everything. I didn't want to register my Bible with the government, for to do so we had to strike out certain verses, not to be used. That was a privilege we had, to keep our Bibles, providing they were registered with the government, and if we would agree not to mention certain things which were considered to be causing confusion. I had two guns. There was one that I didn't want to register. So I let my wife and boy take one Bible and one gun to the school-house to register them with all the other things we had. I went all the way through the woods with my gun and my Bible. I hid them. No one would know about them. I arrived at the school house and the store. I was just sitting there until my wife awl boy arrived, so we could buy something, for I was tired and hungry.

About that time someone came up to the door. Three or four men conversed with each other a few minutes and asked some questions, looked at me for a while, and walked off. Then one of the boys laughed and told me that the men, who were "laws", had mistaken me for a preacher, Brother G. was who they were looking for; he had failed to register with the government. Of course I was a preacher, but I was so glad they were looking for the other one. I felt relieved; but not for long. For my wife and toy had arrived. We just had to do some trading. I asked a man beside me, who was my fellow-citizen, if we were to go free and settle down and be peaceful again, without being bothered by the government. He replied, "Sure we can." He had. I was feeling so relieved. But he added, "We can if we will register." He had registered already and he was counted a citizen. He could get his "portion" from the government each month. What a privilege! I wanted to be respected. I wanted to be loyal to the government. I did not want to be counted a law-breaker, or an outlaw like Brother G., who the officers were looking for. So I decided to register. But I was asked if that was my only Bible, and if that was my only gun. 1 was asked if I was a firm believer in the communist government. I was asked if J would stand by the government, to defend it and support their policies. 1 didn't want to sign that unless I knew what their policies were. In reading the policies I noticed that they did not believe in Christ. I was in a strait what to do. I did not want to lie about the extra Bible, which contained the Scriptures in their fullness. I wanted to be truthful about the extra gun. I didn't want to sign that I would be loyal to this government, or that I would support it, or be a firm believer in it. But I must do so if my family got its "portion." We couldn't as much as get a ration book unless we registered. We could not get car-license. We couldn't get a social-security card. 1 wouldn't be appointed my job to work at. I wouldn't be a free citizen

like the rest of the peeople in the store who were taking it easy. They were not worrying. Of course 1 didn't want to be an "out-law." I wanted peace. We had war long enough. My friends and relatives would think me awful if I didn't want peace. By signing my name J could be at ease Otherwise, what was I to do? Then I awoke! I felt so relieved. It was a dream! But I could not sleep any more that night. I felt the power of God. The Lord talked to me. This was in America! One thing that impressed me was that these officers, these people at the store and all these "loyal citizens" were my own people, some I had been reared with. They were loyal to their government. They wanted their "portion." How else could they live? It seemed that they were contented and happy? But they had signed away their right to Christ. They had denied the blood, for the things that "caused confusion" were marked out of their Bibles they were "privileged to keep". Being loyal to the government they could have church. Of course they must not preach anything which would cause 'tr-ouble.' America had been run over by the Communists. It was my own people who were officers. They were loyal. It was "peaceful America" once more. Everyone seemed to be so glad of it. 1 thought of the Scripture where a man's foes would be those of his own household. A brother shall betray a brother unto death. The father-in-law against the son-in-law. I thought about the Mark of the Beast. But would it come that way? "How foolish" the average person thought. They had signed without bothering to read what they signed. Should they not be a "peaceloving people, loyal to their government." They didn't want to see any more of our boys die, or any more bloody revolutions. They wanted to rebuild our cities 111 a peaceful world. Everyone had plenty of work who "registered". And the Mark of the Beast comes through a mark in the forehead or in the hand. But I thought if I signed my name with my right hand or even gave

consent with my mouth, providing I couldn't writewhat would that be? And many people around the . defense jobs near Chicago, who have lost their social security number, in order to work, has their number put in their hands, under the skin. That is not the Mark of the Beast, for they have not denied Christ by signing up with a Christ-rejecting, Communist Government. But how soon? The Bible didn't say it would come on all the people at once. For several of our brethren behind the iron curtains have gone to prison, given their lives in many ways, rather than sign up, and everything, even bread, was rationed. Some have compromised, for the sake of their hungry family, and to be at "peace." WHAT WILL YOU DO? ~

Chapter IX
DON'T BE "PUT A WAY"

I don't want to be "put away". Paul commands the church "to put away from among yourselves that wicked person." (1 Cor. 5: 13). How do you do it? Verse 5 tells them. The way to put them away is to deliver them unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh that their Spirit might be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus." I don't see much Scripture for "turning out," although I don't object to it if a person must do it, because it sometimes splits a church and causes trouble. Paul practiced what he preached. He put two men away because they blasphemed. (1 Tim. 1 :20). Paul did the same thing, but it was through ignorance (v. 13). That makes a difference. When you know about these things it is a serious thing with God. That is why it was so serious with Brother Ananias and his wife. They did it under the light and in the face of the Holy Ghost anointing. Peter was guilty of the same thing

(lying to God) but that was before he came in the light of the Holy Ghost. Brother, Sister, who have been trifling with God under the sound of the Holy Ghost messages, don't think you are going to escape discipline. God dealt with a young lady, by the name of F-. She finally came to God after God took little Charles. Ray, her 18 months old baby. She became a member of the church where I pastored. She rejoiced many times in the Lord and told the people how she was going to meet her little Charles Ray iff Heaven. She would especially get happy when we would sing, "I'll Meet You Over Yonder." One night at church the Holy Ghost spoke and told her she had sin covered LIp in her life. I went to her and she denied it. I told her to confess it out, but she would not. About nine months later we stopped by to see her. I opened the Bible and began to read what God gave me after we had prayer. I looked her in the eyes and told her what was in her life. She confessed it out. She cried as my wife took her guitar and sang: How will it be when we get over yonder, To meet our friends upon that glassy sea '! To meet our loved ones and crown Christ forever, Oh, this is just what Heaven means to me. She said she was right with God as we walked out and left her rejoicing in God. Although this had reproached Goel's cause God was so merciful! Sunday afternoon we went by to get her to carry her to Sunday School. The beds were rolled up and hanging in the yard. The room was empty. I stood shocked as her brothers, who were unbelievers, told me this story: About three o'clock Sunday morning she began to suffer agony. They wanted to carry her to the hospital, which was six miles away. She said, "You may as well carry me to the funeral home, for I am not coming back."

They would not agree with her and started to carry her to the hospital. As they started to the ambulance she said to Billy, her four-year-old son, "Billy, I am not going to live with you any more. I am going to live with little Charles Ray. Good-bye, Billy." As they drove up Main Street she was heard fraintly singing, as she seemed to be easy: Will the circle be unbroken, Bye and bye, bye and bye? There is a better home awaiting, In the sky, yes, in the sky. She was only in the hospital a few minutes when she looked up and said, "I will not be here much longer. I am going to be with my little Charles Ray!" Then looking up she pointed. She gazed there as she exclaimed: "I see little Charles Ray now up there on that beautiful shore. There he is! In a minute I'll be over there with him!" In about a minute she had stepped across on that other shore to try a reality of a better world where there will be no more suffering, no more sad farewells to loved ones, no more graves to be dug, no more pains, tears or troubles up there for the former things are passed away. Is that not better than if we had "turned her out" and still be suffering from a "church trial"?
