Easter changes everything! It changes our view of the past. It changes our life in the present. It changes where we live in the future. I look forward to worshipping with you this Easter Sunday. Inviting someone to church may not seem all that important to you, but it made a huge difference in my life. They were studying missions about the Louisiana bayou and so some kids came to my house with boiled shrimp. I was eleven and had never eaten boiled shrimp. They were delicious, but what I remember the most was someone cared enough to invite me to church. The shrimp were great, but I needed the visit a whole lot more. Is there a better occasion than Easter to invite someone to church? The Easter mission offering we collect each year, goes to help start new churches in North America and Canada where few or no churches may exist. Last year we were able to give over $23K. Thanks in advance for being a generous missionary church. Almost any church can grow when there are new people moving into the community. Many of these people come looking for us. We gladly welcome them. The housing slump and lack of moving over the past ten years has almost brought easy growth to an end. Eastmont and others have declined in attendance as a result. Yet, when I walk neighborhoods I still meet people who dont have a church home, and they are within a mile of Eastmont. We cant make people attend church, but our Lord expects us to at least be neighborly and invite them. The sower knew some seeds would never grow, but he planted anyway because he knew some seeds would grow. It used to trouble me that our Lord Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb. Then I heard S.M. Lockeridge say: Why should He buy one? He was only going to use it three days. Ill see you Sunday.
