200 MEGAPIXEL DIGITAL CAMERA TECHNOLOGY, HOW DOES IT WORK? In a normal single shot capture the output image is obtained by calculating the colors of adjacent pixels as each of the pixels on the sensor unit are either red, green or blue. This process is called interpolation and is based on very advanced algorithms in order to achieve an image with the correct color and detail reproduction.
ULTIMATE STILL IMAGING The advanced Hasselblad Multishot (4-shot) technology eliminates the issues which the single-shot interpolation routine sometimes can introduce, such as moir and color rendering issues by physically moving the sensor 1 pixel at the time, thereby capturing the red, green and blue information in each individual pixel point and then combining these captures into one. This results in a true color and moir free capture with increased level of detail as there is no need for interpolation at all.

This ultimately ends up in a result which is equal to a 200 Mp single shot sensor coverage in the green channel but practically, because of the pixel pitch overlap, the end result is very close to full 200Mpix coverage with very minor gaps between pixels.

Because of pixel pitch overlap there are only very minor gaps in the coverage of the green pixels. Numbers indicate capture sequence

Furthermore the green channel is being partially double sampled because of the initial multishot capture and both the Red and the Blue channel has a 12,5% higher representation of pixels compared to a potential 200 Mp single shot sensor.
