About the Trust: Spark is a Trust that works in the broad sphere of education.

Not only has it been conceptualised and founded by students but also it is wholly run and managed by students. The Trust has been operational for about 6 months now and currently has 26 volunteers who work as part of the management. We are being mentored by Smt. Manimala, who is a Trustee of the well known Sankar Foundation, an NGO that has been declared the most efficient medical sector NGO in the world by Mr. Gordon Brown. We are also supported by Asian Genco , one of the leading power producers of the country. It must be noted that no member of the Trust receives any kind of compensation from the Trust for his or her services all members of the management are purely volunteers.

Past Performance: In these last 6 months, Spark has operated in 3 colleges at Delhi University, namely Hansraj College, Hindu College and Kirorimal College, to successfully implement, what we call our, Cycle 1. Cycle 1 involved a tie up with Alchemist, which is a leading career development institute in the region. With their help, we devised a certification course which involved giving training sessions in each of the above mentioned colleges. The most striking feature about our operations was that we provided this training to all participants free of cost, whereas this training would be available in the market for about Rs. 6,000 per student. Through these last few months, we have successfully trained and benefitted more than 600 students over the 3 colleges. In essence, we have provided training worth 600*Rs. 6,000 = Rs. 36,00,000 with a budget of Rs. 1,00,000. We managed to make use of the leverage provided by a cleverly crafted certification course through sustained negotiations with Alchemist.

Our Model: Scores of college students aim at getting job placements on-campus, undoubtedly they all have qualms regarding the recruitment process. The students from economically average backgrounds cannot afford to enroll for the professional courses for training in this regard. As a result they lose out on an opportunity to reach out and grab what is best for them. Even if they have the intellect and the acumen for the job, they cannot manage to clear the group discussions and the interviews due to the lack of skills and fluency required in these disciplines. This creates a gap between the deserving students and the jobs. Spark aims at bridging this gap free of cost, so that every student, irrespective of his/her economic status is able to have a fair chance of getting recruited by a company. Having tied up with various career development institutes has given us the necessary expertise required to polish the various recruitment skills of students. Highly qualified, knowledgeable speakers from these institutes will hold sessions on How to crack interviews, Group

Discussion techniques and overall personality development which would directly benefit the students aspiring for job placements. The success and the fame of an institute majorly depends on the quality and quantity of job placements that happen. The main factor which attracts parents and students alike to apply for a college is the placement ratio of that college. Thus, the reputation and the value of a college greatly rests upon the placement scenario of a college.

What we want?

This time in the new cycle, we aim to show the students of DU, what alternatives are available to them after college. This could include jobs, entrepreneurship, further studies etc. We hope to have you come over to one of our campuses and talk to our audience about one of these options.
