Why the Khazanah Scholarship is for me and how would I contribute to the good governance practices and leadership

development of Malaysia
Born in a small family of four and leads a really simple life has taught me the significant of being a knowledgeable person in order to survive in this competitive world. On 25th November 1994 at Taiping Hospital, I was born. My respected father that I will always loved, Othman b Mohari passed away when I was one year old. I was raised perfectly by my lovely mother, Nor Azizah bt Shafie. My mom is a farmer and she also did a lot of jobs to fulfilled our needs. Certainly, my mother is the one that influenced my values in my life. She has shown me that if I want to succeed I will have to put my all into my task at hand. Being her daughter taught me to be independent and grateful for what I have in my life. She also taught me that I do not have to be significant person to contribute in a society or organization. Living in a small and discrete town of Kg Dato Sri Kamaruddin. Sri Manjung, Perak for about 10 years, I definitely adore the simple life in a small town. I received my formal primary education at SK Kg Dato Sri Kamaruddin, Sri Manjung. My UPSR result was excellent which was 5As. As for the excellent achievement, I was offered to further my studies in prestigious institution which is Mara Junior Science College Merbok or known as MRSM Merbok. In 2007, I started my life as secondary school student in boarding school before moving to MJSC Pasir Salak at 2008 until I sat for my PMR examination. In my PMR result, I successfully maintained my perfect achievement by getting 8 As. Then I was offered to further my studies in special education programmed by MARA in MJSC Taiping. I study in MJSC Taiping in form four and form five. Praise to Allah, all my hardwork and sacrifice was paid off when i got fantastic result in SPM which is 6A+s 3As. Now it is proven that my academic performance is always consistent and good. I also proved that I am independent student and I also can afford of being far from family. This is also the reason I think I am really suitable for Khazanah Global Scholarship Programme. I have a keen interest in further my studies in Foundation in Science and my tertiary level studiy in Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS). I know that Khazanah Scholarship is the best opportunity available to achieve my dream. Besides having a good academic performances, I also have a great leaderships skill. This is proven when I am chosen to hold the huge responsibility of Vice President of Fire Brigade Society. Besides that, I always do my task systematically and perfectly and I had the trust of my advisor to be the Secretary of Bowling Club for two years. This club also the won the Best Club in 2011. I am sure that with this quality I will have a bright career in the future. My leadership also shone when I became one of the member of important society in our college which is College Religious Committee. Being the member of this committee has built a strong religious principle in myself. This

value is extremely significant as there are a lot of challenges in this modern world. Being the daughter of a single mother, I had been taught to always do good deeds to people in need. I love to do community work very much and in form four my club, Fire Brigade Society and I had arranged a community work. In this community work we had collaborate with Bersamamu TV3 and we help a poor family. Recently, my friends and I had done

community work in a charity home, Rumah Kebajikan As-Shukor in Rawang. I know that i will continue in helping people especially when I have a good career. This is because when I have a great career, I will greater chance to help people. Besides, I also would really like to joined MERCY Malaysia to contribute to the people in need. My greatest weakness is that I may easily sympathize when I look at those unlucky people who suffer chronic diseases no matter children, adolescents, or even the elders. I will feel a sudden yearn to help them in any ways so that they can enjoy their precious life as I am enjoying mine. Being a doctor is such a noble job. The earning is profitable too. But yet, the thing I seek the most by being a doctor is the pleasure to treat sick people. As conclusion, I am certainly sure that I will do my best to ensure that I will succeed in my studies. I am here ready to be recruited as the Malay and Muslim doctor. Therefore, I would like to respond to the need of 1 doctor for 500 citizens by 2020 as stated by the government via Health Informatics Centre Planning and Development Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia. As the population grows and technologies evolve, the demand for medical expert will always there. By then, Dr. Nur Fathin Atiqah bt Othman, will be there to ease the burden.
