Dont Go Away Hungry

And if I send them away hungry to their own houses, they will faint on the way; for some of them have come from afar" (Mark 8:3).

There are commercials declaring that about 20% of our children do not have enough food and go to bed hungry at night. I have no idea how such statistics are formulated. I have a lot of trouble with that number. Frankly, I dont believe it. BUT, if there are children who do not have enough to eat, it is not because we do not have enough available food in this country. More food goes to waste every day than that 20% could begin to eat. Beyond all the politics that are involved, there is opportunity. Go to where the food is. Do the work needed to get it. Share what is available. There is no need for unwanted hunger. As Jesus looked at the crowd of people who had remained with him for three days without a supply of food, He knew that something had to be done. People need food. His disciples struggled with the problem of feeding people while in an unsettled area. There were no merchants. There were no ready supplies. The only available food was what had been carried, was in the hands of a few, and the amount was small. Jesus knew that the people could not be dismissed to travel to their homes. They had no strength. They had not eaten. It could be dangerous for many of them. The people before him needed nourishment. As always, Jesus made it work. He took what was available, and with His power He multiplied the food. He fed the multitude. Without the feeding from Jesus, the journey would have been quite different. Among the blessings that Jesus promises is the blessing of being filled. It is the filling with righteousness that is promised (Matthew 5:6). Sadly, there are still multitudes who are not being filled. They assemble, but go home without being fed. Jesus has the food for all. There is no need for anyone to be hungry. The supply is available. Let the hungry be fed. Russ
