Check in and Day of Show entries will be taken from 7am-8:30am Judging to begin at 9am
Early entry fee is $3.00 per rabbit. Late entry and Day of Show entry fee will be $4.00 per rabbit.

The following breeds are sanctioned with the national specialty clubs:
Californian (O), Champagne D'Argent (O), Dutch, Flemish Giant (Open), Florida White (Y), Havana (Open), Holland Lop, Jersey Wooly (Open), Mini Lop English/French Lop (open), Mini Rex, Netherland Dwarf, New Zealand (Open), Polish (Youth), Rhinelander (Open), Silver Marten (Open), Tan (O) ALL RECOGNIZED ARBA BREEDS MAY BE EXHIBITED! If you would like another breed sanctioned, please contact the show secretary.

MEAT PENS/SINGLE FLYER


Meat pens consist of three rabbits not over 70 days old, not under 3 lbs. and not over 5 lbs. The rabbits must be of the same breed and variety. Exhibitors will be allowed to enter only two meat pens and single fryers per exhibitor.

SHOWMANSHIP
A showmanship competition will be offered at the show. Sign up will be available at check in the morning of the show. Judging times will be announced after the show begins.
DIRECTIONS

The show site is located at the M.A. Edmond Livestock Show Arena (not on the main Southern campus). From Baton Rouge take I-110 North towards the airport; take exit 8C (towards Natchez) and go right on Hwy 61 Scenic Hwy. (the interstate ends here). You will go 4 miles and turn right at the S. U. Ag Livestock Arena green sign. This road is apx. 1/10 of a mile north of the Citgo gas station. Citgo station is located at 14506 Scenic Hwy, Baton Rouge LA 70807.

Youth & Open Show Rules


1. All complaints or allegations of misconduct by one member against another must go before the Board of Directors with a $50.00 deposit. If the complaint(s) is upheld by the Board of Directors, the deposit will be returned. If the complaint is not upheld, the deposit will be used to help defray expenses in operating the show. 2. Youth exhibitors must exhibit their own rabbits in order to receive premiums. Any exhibitor not able to show their own rabbits will need to get an excuse from the superintendent before the show before another youth can exhibit for him/her. 3. This show is sanctioned by ARBA & LRBA. All exhibitors must follow the ARBA show rules. Youth cannot show the same rabbit in both shows. Adults cannot show in youth classes. 4. All youth entries must have a telephone number and an attached W-9 form; the W-9 form is needed for processing of premium checks. If the social security number is not entered or is incorrect, the premium check will be forfeited by the University's Controllers Office. 5. All entries must be permanently and legibly earmarked in the rabbit's left ear. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. 6. Neither Southern University or the co-sponsoring club will be responsible for loss or damages. However, every precaution will be taken to insure the safety of the rabbits and exhibitors. 7. Entry fees and late entries will be taken between 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Judging will begin at 9:00 a.m. All exhibitors in the show must be in the showroom no later than 7:30 a.m. 8. The Rabbit Show Committee will furnish scales. These scales will be used as the official scales for weighing rabbits. 9. No one will be allowed behind the judging tables except the judge, official secretary and show personnel. 10. The University will mail all premium checks after the show. 11. The show's superintendent will eliminate any exhibitor who does not adhere to the rules from all competition. 12. Any exhibitor showing ownership of a rabbit while being judged or found harassing a judge will be eliminated from all competition. 13. This will be a one-day, carrying cage show. Exhibitors must use a leak proof pan. 14. Exhibitors should have his/her rabbit ready for showing when the class is called. If the exhibitor is not at the judging table after the third call, the rabbit will be eliminated from showing. 15. The rabbit show officials reserve the right to add or substitute a judge or judges where deemed necessary. 16. Open show exhibitors will be awarded rosettes only. 17. Smoking will not be permitted inside the building. No alcoholic beverages will be permitted or consumed on the premises. 18. Any person(s) engaged in selling rabbits (rabbits entered in the show are excused) or supplies shall pay a vending fee for this privilege at the show. 19. The Southern University Livestock Show management reserves the right to remove from the grounds, any display of rabbits which may be deemed objectionable, without assigning a reason. This is to include but, not limited to: overcrowding, young animals, animals showing signs of illness, etc. Per ARBA rules, the show management must remove any diseased or unsightly animals from the show room. Any entry fees on these animals will be forfeited. 20. Southern University reserve the right to refuse entries from exhibitors placing any entry from within 150 miles which has had a confirmed out break of RHD/RCV/VHD within the past 60 days of the entry deadline. 21. Youth exhibitors may enter sanctioned youth shows between the ages of five (5) and eighteen (18) years. An adult cannot show in youth classes at any time. Youth exhibitors must be able to handle their own animals.

Meat Pen Rules Youth only


1. Exhibitors will be allowed to enter two meat pen or single fryer per child. 2. Only the top three meat pens will sell. Southern University will retain the top three meat pens and no matter from what state the exhibitor resides. Southern University Livestock Show office will take possession of the pens and they will become the property of Southern University. These meat pens will be distributed to needy youth breeders of the Southern University Rabbit Research Program, according to the discretion of the show management. All pedigrees must be turned in to Southern University before receiving a premium check.
