Rajat Dixit is the Vice-President HR at a leading KPO, of a metropolitan city in India. Sitting in his office he is looking at the astonishing results of the employee survey conducted by the summer trainees recently. It indicates that most of the employees are not satisfied, they are unhappy. When he looks at the reports he finds the statistics on different parameters.

He is turning pages of his diary which he frequently uses to write down his observations and reflections related to different HR Aspects. Few of them are: The organization is not a simple place. It is full of different type of complexities and network of human relations are a vital part of it. This may involve a whole array of human emotions; fear, anger, joy, trust and suspicion. There are situations which are pleasant and unpleasant. Sometimes the goals may be accomplished right in time and sometime there are some deadlocks or barriers in the goal accomplishment. Every time it all depends on people, they do their job right or they leave it in a midway or to meet the deadlines they stop adhering to the quality standards. Employees have a positive notion about the organization when they enter the organization they are ready to honour and obey their employer, but eventually it may not always be a WinWin Situation and sometimes the conflict may arise leading to clashes. The interpersonal harmony may not be equal in all teams. So at the time of appraisal the employees may have a thought- performance reviews are biased or some supervisors may be lenient in rating while the other may be strict. Some people may complain of overwork, while at the same time managers may identify some areas as overstaffed. A proper check may be required to maintain a balance. Moreover if that is a situation it shall be immediately resolved. Later in the afternoon, after the lunch time he discusses the situation with other colleague and he concludes that: With short deadlines and tough competition becoming a common feature at the workplace, it appears to be a myth that employees could stay happy at the workplace.
