Recording
You can record immeditely by using the built-in microphone.

Installing batteries

Be sure to replace batteries in stop mode.

Recording

To open the battery cover, press and then slide it off.

To check the battery condition, press the Play/Stop button or Rec button.

Install two batteries. (At this time, make sure to match the "+" and "-" ends of the batteries with the diagram inside the compartment.) Then slide the cover back into place.

Recorded ones will not be deleted when replacing batteries.

Release the Hold switch, then press the Rec/Stop button for power ON. Press the Rec/Stop button again after moving the microphone toward the sound sources.

To stop recording, press the Rec/Stop button again.

The Play/Stop button cannot stop recording. If nothing enters within 1 minute, the unit will be automatically turned off.

Recording starts when the red lamp lights ON. Simultaneously the recording number,level, and time will be displayed. (The recording number will be the next of the last one.)

q To avoid failure, perform a trial recording first. q If the recording time exceeds the maximum, a message "FULL" appears and the recording no longer continues. q You can record maximum 99messages in each file. If further messages are recorded, a message "FULL" will appear. At this time,record again after selecting a new file.

Using an external microphone


Record after connecting an external microphone to the external microphone jack (EXIT MIC JACK), as shown in the figure below.

Select a recording mode after pressing the Mode button in stop mode.

Selecting the VOR (VOICE OPERATING RECORD) mode


Avaliable only when any sound exists. Press the Mode button twice in Stop mode, and then select VOR ON/OFF.

Adjusting the Volume


To adjust the volume, press the MODE button three times in stop mode or press it once during the playback.
q

You can record your voice even in action by mounting the external microphone on your collar. And you can record with better sound quality when the microphone is closer to the sound source.

The existing recording mode is displayed when the Mode button is pressed. You can select another mode by moving the selection jog button (SEL) up and down. q Wait for about 5 seconds or press one of the other buttons to exit.

When the Mode button is pressed, "VOR OFF" wil be selected. You can select "VOR ON" by moving the selection jog button (SEL) up and down. q If you press the Mode button during the recording, the VOR can be immediately turned ON/OFF.

Press the Mode button and the figure of volume adjustment will appear. You can adjust the volume by moving the selecting jog button (SEL) up and down.

Checking the amount of recording time left


You can check the amount of recording time left by pressing the Play/Stop button long in stop mode or during the recording.

unit has the best sound in SP mode (Standard Period Mode).

Displayed is the amount of recording time left in the present mode.

Increasing the recording number during the recording


When the FF(fast forward) button is pressed during the recording, the recording number will be increased one by one.
q

Simple recording
To directly record, press the Rec/Stop button for at least 2.5 seconds in power OFF. q To directly record, press the Rec/Stop button when selecting a mode or during the playback.

Playback starts when the green lamp lights ON. Simultaneously the recording number, level, and time will be displayed. When there is when no recorded messages "NOINFO" will disappear.

The maximum recording number is 99.


q The recorded messages can be deleted due to breakdown. Note down your important messages just in case. q If you want to re-start the recording after stopping it, press the REC button about two seconds later.

Select the volume adjustment mode by pressing the Mode button during the playback. And then adjust the volume by moving the selecting jog button(SEL) up and down.

Press the Play/Stop button again to stop.

The recording function needs at least two seconds for re-starting.

Use earphones if much noise exists.

When the Play button is pressed again, the playback will start from the last stop. The unit will be automatically turned OFF if there is no pressing of another button within one minute.

Erasing one message
1. Select the recording number you want to erase, then press and release the Erase button. q The message of selected recording number is displayed. Then the message "Erase" appears and blinks. 2. Press the Erase button one more time. q The recorded message will be erased with a beep.

1. Press the Erase button for at least 3 seconds in power ON. q The A, B, C, and D files and the time menu blink. 2. Press the Erase button once again for at least 5 seconds.. q ' ' is displayed with a long beep.

When you press the FF or REW button long enough during the playback, the playback time will be increased or decreased as much. But when you press them short, the recording number will be increased or decreased then the playback will return.

Press the Repeat button once during the playback or stop.

Connecting external equipments


You can have an interactive recording between the unit and external equipments by using external cables.

Recording the messages from a phone

Connect an external cable to the MIC JACK of the voice pen to the earphone jack of an external equipment before recording.

You can monitor the recorded message using earphones. At this time the recording level is not changed by volume controller of the voice pen.

Connect an external cable to the MIC IN JACK of the voice pen to the AUDIO OUT JACK of the adaptor for phone recording. Connect a 30 cm phone cable to the phone to the adaptor for phone recording. Connect the phone line to another jack of the adaptor. Press the Record button, and the messages from the phone will be recorded.

Recording the messages from the voice pen in external equipments


Connect an external cable to the OUT JACK of the voice pen to the MIC JACK or the external input jack of an external equipment. Then press the Play button of the voice pen and the Rec button of an external equipment.

Voice Manager (Program for Managing Sound File)


This is the program to copy the recorded sound files in PC and classify, search, and apply them by connecting an external cable to the OUT jack of the Voice Pen to the MIC or LINE IN of the PC. For further information, refer to the HELP of the Voice Manager.

Click the Recording Mode icon. Press the Play button of the Voice Pen.

Click the Play Mode icon. Press the Open icon to open the file recorded in PC. Click the Play icon. Click the Stop icon to stop listening. Use the Compress and Save button to compress and save the current open file.

After the files from the voice pen are recorded in your PC, the waveform of the sound will appear on the screen.

After the recording is completed, click the Stop icon.

Editing the recorded files

Managing files You can manage the registered files.

Click on the Open button in the Play or Edit mode to open the file you want to manage. Click on the Register button and type information related to the file into the memo area. And then select the group you prefer.

Click on the D/B(Data Base) button and Dialog window appears. Select the group you prefer from the Select group on the Data Base Dialog window.
q When lists of registered files are displayed, select the list you

prefer.Then the appropriate voice files are displayed.

To add file registration, click on the Add button and select the voice file you want to add. To check information related to the files, select the file you prefer from the list of files and click on the Info button. For file playback, select the file you want to play from the list of files and click on the Play button.

Precautions
Read the following precautions before using the voice pen.

Do not drop the voice pen or give it a mechanical shock. It can cause its hindrance. Do not place the voice pen on the followings: - Hot places (60oC) - Locations exposed to the direct ray of light or near a heater - Cars whose windows are closed - Humid places such as bathrooms - Areas with too much dust Do not apply excessive force to the LCD window. This can cause breakdown or malfunction.

Avoid putting magnetic cards such as credit cards or subway passcard near the speaker. Otherwise the cards can no longer be used. Be understood that our company does not reimburse you for any loss from the use of the voice pen or any demand of indemnity from the third person. Be understood that our company does not take responsibility for any memory loss by reasons of breakdown, repair, and others.

Do not recharge, disassemble, or put the batteries in fire. Electrolytic fluid such as fusible alkalies can flow and hurt your eyes. This can cause heat generation or explosion. When there is electrolytic fluid (such as fusible alkalies) on your clothes or skin, wash it immediately with water. When you have it in your eyes, wash it out and go see a doctor. Do not use different kinds of batteries together. When the voice pen is not used for a long time, remove the batteries.

Do not repair, disassemble, or alter your voice pen yourself. If any malfunction (such as smoke or transformation due to heat) happens, remove batteries immediately. Do not use in airplanes or areas restricting the use of electronic devices. Avoid using the voice pen while driving or walking. It might cause some accidents.

Troubleshooting (when using the Voice Manager)


Check for the following items first if any problem happens.

Recording or Playback menu becomes the state of nonactivation Recording does not work.

No sound card. Install the Voice Manager program again after inserting a sound card into your PC.

Check that the Voice Pen is connected to your PC (Sound Card). Select the icons in the following sequence: Control panel -> Multimedia -> Audio -> Recording. And then check that the MIC IN is activated in the Recording Control Window. Cancel the mute toggle or select Microphone from Recording control. Too loud sound can cause noise. Adjust the volume using the volume controller of the Voice Pen.

The following message appears on the screen: "VOICE MANAGER. help file was created with a language not support by this version of windows". The following message appears on the screen: "Waveln Open : the actual device can't record this format".

Install the Voice Manager program again after deleting the existing one through "Program Add/Delete".

This message appears when the audio codec is deleted. (The audio codec is automatically installed in Windows setup.) Install the Microsoft GSM6, 10 Audio Codec in the Control Panel, and then restart your system.
