ESP has developed in different country and in each country in a different speed. Three main reasons responsible to it development are the demands of a brave new word; a revolution in linguistics and its focus on the learner. 2- How could you define ESP? English for Specific Purpose is an approach to language learning that is based on the learners needs and in his reasons for learning. It concerns in how people learn processes of language learning. 2 Class 1- Define Design.
Design is to create, to construct or conceive according to planning.

2- What questions should you question yourself when designing an ESP course? Questions like: Who is my student? What does he need to learn? Why he need it? What level of proficiency must be achieved? What topic area will need to be covered? What learning theory will guide the course? What kind of methodology will be employed? Where is the learner take place? What potential does the place provide? What limitations does it impose? When is the learner to take place? How much time is available? 3- Whats the impact of the various descriptions of language on ESP? 3 Class 1- What most called your attention in todays class? There are five main theories related to the learner. We had explanations about each ones, however, the examples worked on class were related just to two theories behaviourism and cognitive code. I think that we would have examples related to the others ones. 2- Is there anything which you think might be useful in your future career as a teacher? Justify your answer. The practice of to do a need analyses is the main think that I will take to use in my professional career as a teacher. 1-Why do Hutchinson and Watters suggest a learning-centered approach to teach an ESP course? Because the learning-centered approach is based on the principle that learning is totally determined by the learner. It takes the learner in account at every stage of the design process. 5 Class 1- Based on your experience as a student and / or as a teacher, list some of the advantages and disadvantages of have a syllabus. The advantages are because we use it as a guide, a check list and it helps teacher organize his work. The disadvantage is that it perhaps can limit rather than encourage the learning of students 6 Class 1- What could you learn in todays lesson for evaluating ESP materials? Evaluate materials is a way of exploiting a course design. It can offer ideas of what avoid and what to do, and based in existing materials evaluation we can produce our own. 7 Class 1- Briefly explain the materials design model (4 elements) as discussed today (p.108).
