DISABILITY SECTOR TRAINING FUND NORTH COAST REGION

SUPPORT FOR YOU

Building your resilience
The workshop is for parents of children (0-18 years) with Aspergers Syndrome who are interested in learning strategies for surviving and thriving whilst bringing up a child on the spectrum. The aim of the workshop is to assist parents to recognise and stop the stress cycle more often and reap the benefits. Decreasing our own stress as parents can feel impossible at times, particularly in the context of raising a child who is on the autism spectrum. Increased parental stress in the household can add to the problems our children experience and leave us feeling guilty and even more stressed! Fortunately there is another way. Enhancing ones own personal coping has a flow-on effect to the rest of the family. The workshop will include information and practical activities to assist you to increase your coping strategies and sense of well-being. Benefits of these methods include better health, more effective parenting and a happier family life.
