A RISK ASSESMENT REPORT ON THE SAFETY STANDARDS AT ECO PARK, TAMAN BOTANI, IPOH, PERAK.

SITUATION People are often visited parks in the morning and evening to do a variety of recreation activities such as jogging, exercise, playing, relaxing while enjoying the natural beauty at Eco Park, Taman Botani. Many things can be found there, such as playground for kids, bridge, track for jogging and walking activities, seating area to enjoy the natural beauty of nature and etc. Unfortunately, no matter how well-kept the place is, there are problems identified.

PROBLEMS (a)

Picture (a.1) : BEFORE Problem As shown in the picture (a.1) above, the wooden bridge had worn out and broken. It may cause people to fall down the bridge and victim may suffer from physical injury or fatality.

Solution To overcome the problem mentioned, we recommend the concerned party repair the damaged bridge by replacing it with a new and more durable wood or replace the bridge material using reinforced and prestressed concrete or steel and aluminium. This can be seen in the Picture (a.2). PROBLEMS (b)

Picture (b.1) : BEFORE Problem As shown in the picture (b.1) above, the bridge does not have a barrier fence. It can be dangerous to children who play around this cliff and to the visitors who do jogging and walking activities have a possibility to slip off the cliff. This may lead to serious injuries or death on the victim.

Picture (b.2) : AFTER

Solution As shown in the Picture (b.2), to overcome the problems mentioned, we recommend a safety fence to be built along the banks to prevent the accident from happening. Thus, visitors can feel safer to come to this recreational park.

PROBLEMS (c)

Picture (c.1) : BEFORE Problem As shown in the Picture (c.1), the road covered with iron pipes. There are many holes that can cause danger to pedestrians and vehicles. The road will be more dangerous when people walking or jogging after rain because the road will be slippery and can cause accident and may lead to physical injuries.

Picture (c.2) : AFTER Solution As shown in the Picture (c.2), to overcome the problem mentioned, we recommend the damaged road to be repaired by removing the iron pipes and construct new roads that have safety features to avoid any accidents and injuries from happening.
