If a function f(x) is continuous on the closed interval [a, b], where a < b, and differentiable on the open interval

(a, b), then there exists a point c in (a, b) such that f(c) = f(b)-f(a) over b-a, (quadratic formula), If -1 is less than or equal to A which is less than or equal to 1 then the inverse sine of A is an angle theta written theta = sin-1 A where sin theta is equal to A. --------This is just some of the many fun things, our educational system deems necessary that we will have to learn before our graduation. And after that even more fun lies ahead for us in college. Currently, we have a student debt of 832 billion dollars, our system is falling behind other nations, college and high school drop outs are on the rise, graduates are coming out of college realizing there are no jobs for their degrees, the jobs in most demand are the ones our system ignores the most, and instead of teaching real-life skills our system continues to cram our brains with quote necessary academic skills. Welcome to the American Educational System. Notice any problems? If as Nelson Mandela said Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world then Americas Educational system is like a Nuclear Bomb, it seems really bright a first, until it destroys everything leaving behind a pile of rubble and no future. We are about to see our Educational System kill this

nation. Today lets disarm this bomb and replace it with a system that will leave the American children with a prosperous future. The main sources of our problem are that our system has too many people enrolled in academic colleges, requires all to learn mostly pointless and useless academics and does not teach enough Real World Skills. So why is too many people enrolled in college a bad thing? Doesnt college automatically equal success? Well first of all according to NPR our student debt has reached $832.99 billion dollars. And with this enormous debt what are our students taking courses in? Student financial aid expert Mark Kantrowitz remembers a student asking for $100,000 to take a course in ethnomusicology. What is ethnomusicology? Well you see, in return for going $100,000 in debt you can enter one of 2 exciting job fields, being a music librarian, which doesnt pay well, or a professor of ethnomusicology! And thats it. Another negative of too many people in college is that the demand for highly educated workers is down. As Ellen Richards, an L.A. College Bound Examinar, states, there is Too many college graduates and not enough jobs. We have all seen the pictures and videos of college graduates at Occupy Wall Street complaining about getting a college degree and there not being a job. And the reason they have no jobs is because there is an oversaturation of college educated people. So what is the government doing to combat this oversaturation of our workforce? Well in the recent state of

the Union address Obama advocated providing additional student aid thus encouraging more people to saturate the already oversaturated workforce. So where are the jobs? According to a study done by Georgetown University titled Help Wanted, Projections of Jobs and Education requirements through 2018 they predict that by 2018 only 33 percent of jobs will require a bachelors degree or higher, while nearly 50 percent will require an associates degree or less, accompanied by real-world skills. And these real-world skills are lacking in our students and are not being taught according to Harvard University in a study titled Pathways to prosperity. They state that the job field that requires a mid-level education is exploding. Jobs such as health technicians, nursing aides, home health aides, attendents, dental assistants, massage therapists and other jobs in the healthcare field that require only minimal post-secondary education are in the middle of a rapid hiring spree. There is also predicted to be a huge number of job openings in construction, manufacturing, mining , installation, and repair which also require only minimal post-secondary education and pay quite well. And what is our Educational System doing to fill these jobs? Nothing. Well actually they are preventing students from filling these positions. In the study done by Harvard they cite that by increasing academic studies in secondary schools they are actually causing a rising number of high school drop-outs. By focusing on academics

rather than actual real-life skills they deter those bad at academics that would otherwise be good at filling the demanding job positions of the future. The solution: Vocational School programs. Its something the Finnish Educational System, which has been rated 1st in the world by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, has been doing for years. In Finland Students entering 10th grade have two choses, they can go to high school which prepares you for college if you want to become a professor, doctor, accountant, etc. or they can choose vocational school where, for free as part of the public school system, students can receive real-world education, through job-centered classes and apprenticeships, until they are 21 to prepare them for the trades and jobs such as chef, medical technician, mechanic, plumber, manufacturing, construction, IT technician, dental assistant and other mid-level education jobs that are booming in the United States. Vocational schools will prevent drop-outs because since they contain minimal academic courses and more job-centered classes that students that are bad at math or science can excel in. It will keep down student debt because many students will switch to the public vocational school system instead of taking costly courses in ethnomusicology. It will help our economy, educating students for the most demanding jobs. It will provide proper education for the poor who cant afford post-secondary education. It will allow students to pursue their dream job instead of memorizing pointless formulas. It will fix our inferior system. And

it will provide students with real-world skills through job-centered classes and apprenticeships. Dont expect this change by doing nothing. We see the politicians continue to pursue failed policies. If we are to bring meaning back to the caps and gowns of graduation which today represent uncertainty and monstrous debt, and finally make them represent prosperity and education which they are meant to, we must act. We must mail, call or simply email our representatives and tell them we wont settle for an inferior system, we wont settle for just o.k., that there is no negotiation when it comes to the education and future of our children, then we will accomplish the reform we demand. Ive given you all the reason to change so why would you want to continue with a failed system.
