2.

In the arrangement shown in figure. The ends A and B of an inextensible string move downwards with uniform speed u. Pulleys A and B are fixed. Find the speed with which the mass M moves upwards.

3.

Figure shows a hemisphere and a supported rod. Hemisphere is moving in right direction with a uniform velocity v2 and the end of rod which is in contact with ground is moving in left direction with a velocity v1. Find the rate at which the angle is changing in terms of v1, v2, R and .

4.

Two rings O and O` are put on two vertical stationary rods AB and A`B` respectively as shown in figure. An inextensible string is fixed at point and on ring O and is passed through O`. Assuming that ring O` moves downwards at a constant speed v, find the velocity of the ring O in terms of .

6.

Find the speed of the box-3, if box-1 and box-2 are moving with speeds v1 and v2 as shown in figure. When the string makes an angle 1 and 2 with the horizontal at its left and right end.

7.

Consider the situation of block pulley arrangement shown in figure. plank is connected to three strings an electric motor M is fitted on it and a string is wound on it according to the arrangement shown figure. Given that the string is winding on shaft of motor at a speed Find the speed with which the plank would be going up.

(b)

(i) Block B shown in figure (a), moves downward with a constant velocity of 20 cm/s. At t = 0, block A is moving upward with a constant acceleration, and its velocity is 3 cm/s. If at t = 3 s blocks C has moved 57 cm to the right, determine the velocity of block C at t = 0 and the acceleration of A and C. (ii) Block C shown in figure (b), starts from rest and moves downward with a constant acceleration. Knowing that after 12 s the velocity of block A 7.2 m/s, determine the (a) (b) acceleration of A, B and C and the velocity and the displacement of block B after 8 s.

13.

The system shown in figure, starts from rest, and each block moves with constant acceleration. If the relative acceleration of block C with respect to block B is 6 m/s2 upwards and the relative acceleration of block D with respect to block A is 11 m/s2 downward, determine the velocity of block C after 3s from starts.

14.

Block A shown in figure move by a distance 3 m to toward left. Find the distance and direction in which the point P on string shown in figure is displaced.

15.

Figure shows three blocks A, B and C connected by cable and system of pulleys. The block B is pulled downward with a constant velocity of 7.5 cm/s. At t = 0, block A starts moving downward from rest with a constant acceleration. It is given that the velocity of block A after travelling 20 cm is 30 cm/s, find the change in position, velocity and the acceleration of block C at this instant.

16.

Two blocks A and B are shown in figure. Block A moves to the left with a constant velocity of 6 m/s. Find : (a) Velocity of the block B. (b) Velocity of the point P of the string (c) Relative velocity of the point M of the cable with respect to the point P.

17.

Block B shown in figure, moves to the right with constant velocity of 30 cm/s. Find : (a) The velocity of block A (b) The velocity of the point P of the string (c) The velocity of the point M of the string (d) The relative velocity of the point P of the string with respect to the A.
