Personnel Management

Human Resource Management (HRM) is also a strategic and comprehensive approach to managing people and the workplace culture and environment. Effective HRM enables employees to contribute effectively and productively to the overall company direction and the accomplishment of the organization's goals and objectives. HRM is also compensating people services in line with the job and organization requirement. Organization structure: - The ways to structure organizations, using organization chats, indicating paths for consultation, company hierarchy, bureaucracy, and span for control. Types of organization structure: Functional is grouping of personnel for a particular function (manufacturing, personnel, marketing, etc.). Divisional is based on an organization geographical location or product variety. This also harbors some functional traits within itself. Matrix is a mixture of functional and divisional structures. An example of this is to coordinate products and brands across countries. Project grouping of people based on particular project or pieces of work with temporary nature. In respective of the factor being applied the line of permanent or temporary leadership authority must be clearly defined for effective control. The main structural forms are multifunctional, multidivisional and matrix structures. (Organization Behavior 4th edition by Ian Brooks) Factors affecting organization are the following: technology and product, communication, functions and specializations, organization size, responsibility and authority, strategy and market conditions. Employing people: Recruitment is the activities that link the job seekers and the employer. Recruitment procedure is manpower requirement planning, recruitment policies, job description, advertising and application forms. Selection is the manipulation of applicants data and performance indicator in tune with the job requirement. The procedures follow in these are short listing, test(s), interviews, references and notification. Other aspects of procedure to be followed are: - legal aspects in SA, the induction process, cost of employment and termination of employment. Motivation and Leadership Motivation is simply the will to perform. This are broadly discussed with psychological thoughts. Among this is Abraham Maslow - hierarchy of needs, Frederick Herzberg- dual factor theory, David McClelland The need for achievement and Victor Vroom Expectancy Theory. Money is not the prime motivator. Leadership is simply an achievement of authority through respect. The quality of leadership is usually affected by Background, Personality, followers and Goals. Employee Appraisal is an act of assessing a personnel performance and development plan. Other personnel management functions are training and development and job design and payment systems Team working & Creativity

Team working is a situation where two more people are working to achieve a common goal. Guide lines for team working are:Clear goals, expectation and good ground Optimizing a team composition theory: - Team balancing and psychometric analysis. The tendency role is as follows:The action oriented roles, people skill oriented role, cerebral intellectual role, optimizing team composition, dangerous group combinations, etc. Group dynamics meeting the groups needs. Managing the creative process: Planning, Bottom line, Brainstorming and Lateral thinking. Decision making techniques.
